  1. Actually, I went through the same process recently and I was rather delighted to run the game for the first time post-STEP-installation and not have anything blow up all the way to Riverwood. If you followed the guide where it says order matters then you'll be fine in that regard. If you didn't notice, all the other sections are in alphabetical order, so the installation order there (obviously) shouldn't matter. With the awesome power of BOSS and WB it's unlikely you'll run into any major problems unless you install mods on top of STEP that aren't compatible, but that can mostly be avoided by (1) checking a mod's compatibility section before installing, (2) running WB and BOSS every time you install/update a mod, and (3) pay attention to any overwrite prompts when editing files. The only other advice I'd offer is installing mods with Mod Organizer or another program that virtually builds your Data folder, that way you're not actually overwriting anything.
  2. Discussion thread: Bumpy Inn and Shop Signs by Jenova19 Wiki Link Nothing else currently edits the sign textures, and they're better than Vanilla. I've been using the "Bumpier" setting (3rd image below) and it's actually somewhat noticable.
  3. Then a bump up to 8 (only $25 for a 4GB stick on Newegg) will surely do you some good. I have an i5 2500k, AMD 6870, 8GB RAM, and a normal HDD and with all of the highest resolution files possible I'm doing 40+ fps everywhere. 17 Gigs is nothing, I'm pushing 21! :D
  4. Oh, cool, I didn't know it had been finished, I might look into that, or as Bealdwine suggested, just drop the few bucks and find out :P As for Eve... I just can't get into it. Â I've tried several times but it's a very passive game and it just doesn't seem worth the $15/month. Â It's entertaining to play with the market sometimes and of course there's a big "yay!" moment when you make a huge profit, but aside from increasing your account balance there's not a whole lot to do besides PvP. Â Even that'd be fine if the combat was any kind of engaging. Â It doesn't help that after the first few ranks it begins to take literal weeks to level any skills up. Â Fortunately, I love CCP and what they're trying to do, so I can throw my money at Dust 514 instead and have a badass FPS to play :D
  5. The non-glowing version doesn't look too bad, but I'll have to play with it a little
  6. I'm really liking this one, I'm definitely using this one instead of the other two separately. +1 for inclusion.
  7. I'm not that familiar with AMD CPUs, but that one seems decent (especially with your OC) and your graphics card is pretty good. How much VRAM does it have? If it's only 1GB then that's probably your issue, especially if you're using the highest resolution mods you can. Other than that, RAM is really cheap at the moment so it couldn't hurt to bring your total up to 8GB for when the VRAM runs out. If you have the space/cash, adding Skyrim to an SSD will definitely help, and might even improve FPS depending on how much is being cached. I don't think you can just copy the files over and run it though, you probably have to re-install Steam to the new drive letter, install Skyrim through that, and then copy over all the mod resources (Data folder, SKSE files) and anything else non-Vanilla. There might be tools to ease the transferring process, but I haven't used any, so remember that Google is your friend.
  8. Dude, me and my RL friends are in the same rut: all the current MMOs suck. Â It'd be really nice to have a solid, new game to jump into, but honestly I don't even have much hope for GW2 at this point. Â
  9. Apparently Burial Urn Retexture has been removed from the Nexus, following the link in STEP gives a "mod not found" error and searching for the name provides 0 results. Â What a bummer, I really liked that one.
  10. Besides STEP I'm currently hooked on BF3 for the PS3, the Close Quarters DLC is pretty fun. My PSN is in my signature if anyone's interested in adding me :D
  11. No... not technically. Doesn't mean it doesn't happen. As for 1.6 most of the important stuff has already been updated except for the USKP. Hopefully they will release an interim version that includes all the fixes not related to dialog. I'm getting back into the grove of things and was wondering about this situation as well as I just uninstalled Skyrim and am re-downloading it. I'm not sure downloading a pirate-friendly patch would work regardless of its legality. Won't Steam not recognize or otherwise freak out over the cracked files, or simply replace them with clean, updated versions? In either case, I'm 75% of the way to a brand-new v1.6 install, are there any other mods in particular that I need to watch out for or hold off for an update for?
  12. Since it's not in STEP at the moment I'd propose moving it to the recommendations section, unless this forum is going to be expanded past the current list of STEP mods.
  13. Just for future reference, please test the mod yourself and give a decent sized description of your experiences, bugs, opinion, and anything else you might think is important. "Looks pretty good" isn't very much information for TC.
  14. "DLC" as it's used here refers to anything released officially by Bethesda. It generally does not include updates or patches since those don't add anything and are mainly used for bug fixing and the like. Since there's only been one piece of DLC released, the HD Texture Pack, most people are talking about that when they mention DLC. Installing the HD DLC pack is part of the STEP process and the method used in the installation guide forces those textures to be loaded "first" so that they only overwrite Vanilla assets and not any mods.
  15. Discussion thread: Birds and Flocks by Kazoomie Wiki Link I have to agree with TC on this one. While it technically adds something it's purely for the aspect of improving visuals, and that warrants the Graphics/Textures tag IMO. I always imagined the definition of Content Mods as a mod that adds quests, NPCs, areas, etc; basically things with actual "substance" like what'd you get from DLC, if that makes any sense.
  16. Am I missing part of a conversation? I haven't yet made a page for SRO, I'm trying to get the general template done first, then I'll start making the pages that are confirmed for the next version of STEP. If you'd like to help in this process (it requires very little Wiki knowledge, although it's a plus) send me a PM with some basic info and whatnot. Once the template's done and it's just a question of mass production I'll make a more formal "recruitment" post for potential editors.
  17. A friend of mine had the 440 and I agree, it's definitely not STEP material. I've heard a lot of people having issues with SLI and Skyrim, although if that's been fixed and you're on a budget then another 8800 might work fine, although aren't they generally low in VRAM?
  18. Wow, the STEP Blue looks pretty good! I'm not sure which I like better. I especially like how that top bar follows you down. With the darker background however, I think it needs a different/lighter logo.
