Guide updated, thanks again for the vigilance!

You don't even need to do that. Grab the new SMIM, place it correctly in the load order, uninstall the old one, and install the new one; WB should figure out the rest. Just to make sure it was done correctly you can right-click the header bar and select "Anneal all" afterwards.

One of SMIM's recent updates fixes that object. Make sure you're using the latest version of that as well as the SMIM compatible update to Ultimate HD Fire Effects (installed after SMIM)

Search before you post. Closed.

Is there any way to make the OS remember to set TESV.exe to high priority besides something like ATTK or do I have to do it every time? I already have visual themes disabled and "run as Admin" set on TESV.exe, what exactly does Desktop Composition do? The thing I hate about disabling visual themes is that it reverts my slideshow wallpaper to whichever image was up when it got disabled, does anyone know a way to prevent this?

Right you are, I deleted it, thanks.

Were you getting CTDs more often before?I haven't actually played for an extended period recently, so I can't say for sure. I suspect it's around the same amount as before for me.Â

I'll try giving it more priority, is there any way (without another application) to make sure Skyrim gets higher priority? I've never even heard of Desktop Composition o.0

I defragged and cleaned up the temp stuff a couple days ago, I'll try RAM sweeping. It's mostly stopped but still crops up every once in a while, usually during combat. Alt-tabbing seems to fix it most of the time, otherwise restarting the game does.

I've been playing pretty much all day (6+ hrs) with the beta using STEP+CoT+SkyRe+AV and I just got my first CTD approaching the Imperial camp south of Ivarstead. Thankfully v1.9 doesn't seem to have upset anything yet.

System specs in signatureCatalyst v12.11. Settings follow the AMD Control Center GuideLauncher settings are as STEP prescribes (minus AA and AF)STEP v2.2.2 + SkyRe, AV, and a few othersBaseline (mostly 1k)I have a smooth 40+ FPS, but moving the camera around is still very choppy, almost like a wireless mouse with a bad signal. It's not just lagginess either, there are whole 0.5-1 second intervals where I cannot move the camera at all and yet all background animations and effects look fine. It's happening indoors and out as well. I have "iPresetInterval", "bMouseAcceleration", AA, and AF all set to 0 and the cursor is perfectly smooth in the menus. Google's no help either, I just keep getting threads about mouse lag with the "solution" being to turn off mouse acceleration.Â

I couldn't resist. -
I highly doubt v1.9 will cause any major shifts, maybe a couple removals or something like that. I also doubt it will require a new save, none of the STEP mods are that intrusive (or at least shouldn't be). It looks like SKSE was just updated for the Beta. I'll be installing it tonight or tomorrow and start playing with it.
-
No it will not. Read only means exactly that. No program can alter the files in that folder. That means it can't write any of its configuration or temp files and can't edit any of the actual mod files either. I've never had this issue so I can't really help diagnose it. Remember that Google is your friend and good luck.

Updating the guide right now. -
For this to happen you must have previously assigned BSA Browser to the .bsa extension. BSAopt can extract files from a BSA and can also reassemble file into BSA format, so we usually recommend assigning it to the .bsa extension. Was my way okay though? Next time i'll do BSAopt but if this worked for this particular instance then I dont want to re-do it. If the folder structure's there it sounds like everything worked.
-
DDSopt will eventually add support for at least zip files (this is being currently tested with the beta version of BSAopt). Unfortunately DDSopt only handles loose files at the moment. If you are being fairly selective about which mods you optimize there might not be a lot of them you need to process especially if you don't need to use DDSopt to change the resolution of the texture files for many mods. Even if you want to use DDSopt to change the resolution of the normal maps there are only 5-10 STEP mods that seem to provide noticeable VRAM reduction with this technique. Does your table on the DDSopt guide show what effect there is? If not, is there a list somewhere that says which need it?

So I already have all my mods packaged up in WB, but I want to go through and optimize them. Is this possible without manually extracting each mod and then re-packaging it?

https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/32488       Vanilla              SRO             Tents          Tents (Weathered) Weathered is out for me on all counts, just looks all wrong. I like SRO the best, but this mod still beats Vanilla.I'd like this mods if the dirt wasn't so black and exaggerated, needs to be more subtle and "used", not thrown in the muddy charcoal. Not sure if I like SRO or this better, but both are clearly better than Vanilla. I do like this one's wood better than SRO though. The detail is too exaggerated in this one, not sure if it beats Vanilla. SRO's wood is better as well. Â

SKYRIMLE Bones and Skeletons Retexture (by Andre7890)
Farlo replied to Captiannoob's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
You can use the same testing area as you did for the shrines. Spawn the creatures ("player.placeatme ; BaseIDs on UESP), turn off their AI with "tai" and "tcai" console commands, and then you can move around them and create saves for the screenshots. Just make sure not to move after you make/load the save so the images line up.
