  1. For anyone who hasn't noticed .. AOS 2.5 is on the streets
  2. Wolfskull Ruins https://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Wolfskull_Cave ( Ruins, where the ritual is taking place ) Eldergleam Sanctuary https://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Eldergleam_Sanctuary Temple Of The Divines https://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Temple_of_the_Divines Ancestor Glade https://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Ancestor_Glade Arkngthamz https://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Arkngthamz Blackreach https://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Blackreach
  3. Also amended the description to explain the reason for showing that picture of the properties of the original sound files "Thats 3.15 Gigabytes of data the game engine normally has to shift around constantly just to keep the music flowing. With my mod installed, the game only needs to move 2.94 Megabytes of data around( those small silent replacer files ).Less load on your system playing the game." I dont think that benefit of using the mod was obvious before. Edit : See post #21 - The above was a bit misleading
  4. Nico has mentioned it https://www.afkmods.com/index.php?/topic/3999-bug-fixes-recommended-in-addition-to-the-unofficial-patches/page-4&do=findComment&comment=155482 So it may get hoovered up by the UPP sometime in the future - Everyone is having a break from UPP playing Witcher 3 recently.
  5. You could try running Steve Gibsons Spinrite on the Hard Drive, that program does amazing things to preserve the longevity of hard drives, including SSDs. Any new machines I get I run my copy on them and guarantee a few more years longevity out of them, and any HDs in the past which have failed to the point of bits of files were slowly becoming non-recoverable data - Run Spinrite and you at least get the chance to grab the files off the drive before it dies and transfer them to a new good drive. HDs fail ( SSDs fail spectacularly, thats why I still prefer a spinning disk ), either Spinrite saves them or you lose your data and drive. Spinrite is quite unique in its abilities. 6. And most of the following settings do not need to be changed ... https://ck.uesp.net/wiki/INI_Settings_%28Papyrus%29 ( I think SMKViper ( Bethesda staff ) provided that information ) Edit : See also This topic
  7. And also a note : If you suspect that you have made too many changes to the games INI files, and have possibly unbalanced the game as a result - Delete the INI files, and the next time you launch the games Launcher ( original Launcher, not TESV.exe or SKSE ), your INIs will be regenerated with what the game engine determines to be ideal settings for your machine specifications.
  8. Holy hell, good luck with this and the skyrimprefs guides :cop: May I suggest that : uGridsToLoadThis setting determines how much of the world is rendered around the player. This value may only be an odd number. Default is 5. Additionally has a note to the effect that "it is recommended to be left at its default setting" ( I know, there has been a lot of arguments reference this, but on balance that is still the best recommendation for everyone, individuals can do as they wish, they are not forced to take the advice ) Also a few other bits n pieces in this topic https://www.afkmods.com/index.php?/topic/3132-skyrim-useful-ini-settings/ If you want to link that Wrye Bash BAIN with INI Tweaks, feel free ( probably best to grab and upload it to the wiki as a download in case I get pee'd off with dropbox changes to policy / behaviour in the future and nuke my files there ) Also Wrye Bash has a bunch of INI Tweaks as standard installed which can be referenced as a set of safe to use tweaks.
  9. Wrinkly has made a couple of blog posts User Interface Overhaul, and Sorting Improvements That last one reference sorting is a good one to bookmark if anyone asks "Whats does LOOT do exactly when you click "Sort"" ( Propellor hat needed, plus coffee )
  10. That part of the 6 or 7 load ordering steps which LOOT does has been updated again since to lessen the transition impact from 0.6 to 0.7. It still does that step, but its been refined to try and preserve plugins places in the load order where plugins have no specific position that needs to be adhered to. https://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1516193-rel-loot-thread-18/page-2?do=findComment&comment=23946221
  11. Well IOR full version now removes from the game .. Removes kelp, underwater rocks, land pebbles, snow pebbles, thickets, and snowy thickets. So out of those, if you install DTP, the meshes which reduce the polygons on land pebbles, and underwater Kelp will be redundant, because of IOR telling the game not to even load them. They will just sit on your hard drive not doing anything. But the rest of the meshes from DTP will still do their reducing polygons thing on grasses, so for performance purposes its still worth installing aswell as IOR. I prefer having reduced polygons on underwater Kelp in addition to the grasses from DTP, so I use the Pebbles only version of IOR. Underwater is too desolate without some kelp for my taste.
  12. I didn't know that, it was not mentioned in your mod description .. "Decrease Those Plants: Reduces the meshes of a lot of plants and is compatible with mods like SFO. This is a performance enhancing mod. The mod mainly reduces grass, and dead foliage. Its main purpose is to reduce plants whilst keeping the visuals intact so your game runs faster and you notice little change in density. Lush Trees is an optional for this mod as well." Thanks SP for the extra info regarding what your mod is doing to our game setup. But this mod removes the need for even having any null meshes installed, it uses a plugin to stop them randomly being placed in the game to start with, whether there will be any measureable benefit from doing it that way instead of loading up null meshes I do not know, it would make sense though that this method should be slightly more optimal in its aproach to getting rid of them.
  13. :O_o: I would decide what you want to achieve, they both have different design goals, you just need to decide which bunch of 33 thousand textures you want on your hard drive.
  14. And new topic opened on BGS forum https://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1517172-xedit-generate-bash-tags-for-fo3-fnv-tes4-and-tes5/
  15. Yep out of four computers I have bought for my family my personal machine upgrades are the lowest priority, its about time I had a new one but the car will be the next thing. So this ol machine keeps my hobby ticking over, and me off the streets. One day something serious will blow and force a change, but until then its running Skyrim fine. I use the desktop occasionally, but thats no challenge :), I still havent got around to it but one day I also want to get Skyrim running on the Linux OS on this laptop.
  16. :) Its win 7 x32 with aero turned off so I can run skyrim on my crap laptop graphics card without wasting 80mb of VRAM on windows niceties. Runs smooth
  17. I wouldn't say nobody does ;), I know quite a few, aswell as myself
  18. Assuming vanilla textures - Go have a look at the Ratway tunnels walls textures under riften with RS and ELE installed, and compare with what you are used to. They look a bit less glossy and more moist to me, closer to what I imagine such a place to look like. The distant fog down there has been changed slightly too for the better. With my setup I get a look that is slightly brighter than JawZ Default look, but thats down to my old laptop screen and trying to get the best out of calibrating it for my eyesight for everything I need to use the laptop for .. ( Not using ENB ) Edit : PS I used to love RLO too. Much prefer the atmos everywhere with RS and ELE instead.
  19. Same here ( its the only part of ruffled feather I currently use ), but opted for the pebbles removal only option and rely on Decrease Those Plants polygon reduction aswell for more performance so that I can keep the kelp. Its a good happy medium for me and overall does help a little with performance. Started using his No Guards Torches mod too.
  20. ^^ No Vanilla comparison ? ( or rather Vanilla with ENB in your case ) Personally I like the RS + ELE look ( which is similar to ELE Full ) we have grown accustomed to seeing with this mod combination.
  21. I cant find anything to moan about with that JawZ, and seriously would not play without it. I love the subtle changes this makes to the game, vanilla Skyrim has some beautiful atmospheric moments which are enhanced with this installed. I cant explain those very well, and they are quite often only momentary as the lighting starts fading to night time ( I have on occasion waited for such times to occur, and then went back to a previous save to walk time forward again just to before the moment of a particularly beautiful misty dawn or dusk - Both with and without ELEWL installed to see the difference it makes ) .. Glad to see ELEWL will be getting released ( along with the other eagerly awaited updates to RS and ELE ).
  22. Insignificant Object Remover Semi-randomly placed, discoloured pebbles all over the place taking up processing time, not reflecting light properly in a lot of cases and generally looking awful : Remove them with this mod, and the only difference you will notice is you dont get those awful pebbles anymore. It also does underwater Kelp for performance purposes, but there is a pebbles only option. This is an unusual suggestion for STEP consideration, seeing that it removes objects from the game as opposed to improves on them, but I think once you have experienced it you may agree its a damned good idea for anyones setup. I havent looked into if you already suggest a mesh replacer for the same, but this works better imho
  23. ^^ Updated the first post in that topic again with a new image at the end = CRCs for comparison ( using TES5Edit 3.1 )
  24. Changes to note in the first post here .. https://www.afkmods.com/index.php?/topic/4110-manual-cleaning-skyrim-master-files/ .. The WICourier edit Now that TES5Edit 3.1.0 is released - Removed the WICourier edit ( which is cleaned by normal auto cleaning using the newer version of TES5Edit - so not necessary in this manual cleaning guide anymore ) - Previous screenshot 4 and instructions have become number 3 in the OP there in place of the removed instructions.
  25. Guys I dont think these are going to be coming back, unless EWI ups them someplace else .. He got banned again today and I think its permanent this time. Edit : After the wiki re-overhaul one of them is mentioned here https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:ENB#Performance_Tips No idea what to suggest as a replacement, maybe one of Phinix Performance options in PNENB ? ( I know he used to have 3-4 performance options, I studied it once to see what else I could do to try and get any performance out of my oooold laptop :), gave up with ENB on this machine after that - But the guide says PNENB does not have any https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:ENB#Phinix_Natural_ENB so maybe those old options have been dropped since ) Edit 2 : And if you have more of EWI stuff knocking around in various guides, I reckon those will all not be coming back on nexus either
