  1. I tried it out briefly. Went to Whiterun and forced it to rain. Almost everyone but the guards/workers ran indoors. It was beautiful.
  2. Discussion thread: Wet and Cold by isoku Wiki Link Another amazing mod by isoku. This mod adds alot of stuff... NPCs now react to rain and snow and will go indoors, just like Arthmoor's Run For Your Lives mod.All NPCs except for beggers will put on fur hoods/gloves during cold weather.Water drips from both the player and NPCs (animals included) while standing in rain/after swimming. You can even hear it dripping. The dripping will stop if you get under shelter. You can see player and NPC (humanoids, giants, horses, dogs, and wolves included) breath in cold weather, both through the nose and the mouth when appropriate. If you look up while it's raining you'll get blurry vision periodically from the raindrops.Blizzards slows player and NPC movement speed by 15%. Wind volume also increased.Blizzards will periodically blind both you and NPCs. You can avoid this by keeping your head down. This will of course make you harder to detect during a blizzard as well. This feature is disabled by default. All I can say is... it's about time NPCs react realistically to weather. As for compatibility, it looks like it's incompatible with killable children mods. Other than that it looks like it should be compatible with STEP. Also, if you're using Frostfall you need to disable the drip effects in one of the two mods.
  3. I really can't get over how great those screenshots look. When this gets perfected/optimized I'll definitely move over to the ENB camp.
  4. Wow that is really impressive.
  5. TreesHD is an optional mod in Texture Pack Combiner, and it uses those textures for tree bark instead of Vurt's if you have it set up correctly. I personally use TPC + about 70 other texture mods. TPC is too convenient not to use in my opinion, but if STEP is going to move away from it I'm willing to try whatever is suggested!
  6. I'm curious... where can I find those kinds of trees in-game? I want to take a look!
  7. Errr are you sure about that? Maybe I'm crazy, but I don't think I've ever seen anything like that in my game.
  8. You should only have one Lanterns of Skyrim .esp checked. If that doesn't fix it the best thing to do is to start unchecking mods to try and narrow down the issue.
  9. uGrids absolutely has an impact on VRAM... I've done extensive testing as far as that's concerned; however, Korentin is correct in that higher uGrids can lead to instability due to the engine being overloaded. uGrids=7 is generally stable enough provided you don't have insane .ini tweaks, distant terrain mods, or a ton of mods that add stuff to the game (Civil War, Immersive Patrols, etc).
  10. If by ini setting you mean uGrids, then yeah that will add a few hundred MB VRAM (and RAM) usage. Going from 5 to 7 bumps mine by about 500, but I'm using max resolution textures everywhere. Sounds like your mind is set on a 4GB card. Just go for it... not like they're that much more expensive than their 2GB counterparts!
  11. Modded Skyrim is pretty much the only game that's even remotely capable of using more than 2GB of VRAM on a single monitor. Maybe Fallout: NV with a high uGrid setting? Not sure. Potential VRAM hogs in the future would be Metro: Last Light and Crysis 3, but my guess is that they won't come close to using 2GB at 1080p.
  12. My favorite home mods are Gleaming Falls (has a house version as well as a fully exterior shelter version) and Forgotten Windmill. And of course there's always Halls of Dovahndor, but it's not follower-friendly (yet). Still pretty amazing and worth checking out/exploring if you have Dawnguard!
  13. I placed it after USKP but before TPC/WATER. SMIM's rocks have a higher poly count in addition to UV fixes, and WATER rocks have UV fixes as well so there's no harm in overwriting. Better Rocks and Mountains is no longer needed.
  14. STEP recommends uGrids=7? If you do have that set to 7, reverting it to 5 would be the first thing I tried. I would also leave shadow resolutions at their default ultra settings. Also, set water reflection resolution to its default 512. 1024 can cause huge performance hits in certain areas, even on a vanilla install. EDIT: Just looked at the STEP .pdf. The only time it mentions uGrids is to say that messing with it is not recommended.
  15. I honestly have no idea how the texture quality setting in the launcher affects modded textures. Lowering resolution would help, but I don't really think you'd want to do that. That typically makes games look like crap. If Texture Optimizer doesn't work you should really try lower resolution textures. You might be able to tell the difference in texture quality by comparing screenshots, but I'd be willing to bet you wouldn't notice when playing the game, especially at 1080p.
  16. Judging from his heavy performance loss I doubt running the textures through an optimizer will be enough. Honestly the difference between low resolution and high resolution textures is not huge (with a few exceptions). Also, depending on how much effort you want to put forth you can mix and match high and low resolution textures based on what appears in interiors vs exteriors. For example you should have no problems keeping all your dungeon textures as high resolution. EDIT: Here's the link to Optimizer Textures: https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12801
  17. I was going to insert a "that's what she said," but I decided that would be juvenile.
  18. So yeah, 1280mb VRAM on that card... you definitely want the "light" version of any texture pack that offers one. You can also try reducing AA/AF 1 notch, but I'm not sure that would make a difference. Maybe try backing up and deleting your Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini files so that the game can re-create the vanilla ones... just in case you had a tweak in there that was especially performance-heavy. What resolution are you running Skyrim at?
  19. STEP is a mod installation guide, not a mod in itself.
  20. Sounds like you're running out of VRAM. Try lower resolution textures. What video card do you have?
  21. Unfortunately I don't think there is a solution at the moment. Someone please prove me wrong.
  22. Probably a silly question, but you are using the correct ENB .dll, right? 119? Also make sure bFloatPointRenderTarget is set to 1 in SkyrimPrefs.ini in addition to the tree, land, and grass shadows. You could also try toggling some of the settings in the [FIX] section of enbseries.ini. Other than that, no idea!
  23. We need to get someone more knowledgeable about ITMs in here, because I swear I remember reading a post by Arthmoor saying that it's almost impossible for removed ITMs to cause problems. EDIT: This is the post I was thinking of: https://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1418088-relz-tes5edit/page__view__findpost__p__21676083
