How much RAM use can you get to before a CTD normally?
JudgmentJay replied to Valamyr's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Yeah 3-3.2gb seems to be the point where my game will crash. Using uGrids=7. I have no way to back this up, but from my personal experience it seems like Skyrim will crash regardless of RAM usage if it has to handle too much information at once. Increasing uGrids is obviously the easiest way to reach this threshold. Increased Terrain Manager .ini settings and the distant land mods (Skyrim Distant Detail and Skyrim Distance Overhaul) are also heavy hitters. Again I could be totally wrong, but that's my experience with the game. You should also obviously check your logs in case your crashes are mod-related. -
https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/26194 I don't think this mod is core STEP material, but I thought it'd be helpful for realism/hardcore players. It adds ice and/or rocks to the Sea of Ghosts so that it's possible to reach points of interest without swimming. Not only is this more lore-friendly than swimming in such conditions, but it's extremely useful for people using the Frostfall mod since you actually die from swimming in frigid waters.

Yeah I think Better Rocks and Mountains (mesh only) is already a part of STEP, is it not?
-
Discussion thread: No Stretching by Langley Wiki Link New mod that adjusts the meshes of Imperial fort/cave floors to prevent texture stretching. Does not conflict with STEP as far as I know (I checked, but I only have ~90% of STEP mods).

ACCEPTED Skyrim Realistic Overhaul (by Starac)

As a non-graphic artist I don't see anything wrong with SkyrimHD or SeriousHD textures. I trust that you're right about the quality of their work behind the scenes, but the end user (like me) doesn't really care about that so long as it looks good. I never really had a problem with the "install SHD first then overwrite with SRO" method of old STEP, but TPC looks just as good to me and reduces the number of mod packages I have to install. Win-win in my opinion.- 425 replies

RCRN with CoT's clouds would be amazing.
-
RCRN's footprint is pretty tiny. When Boris releases those SSAO optimizations I'll probably try out a vanilla-like ENB with SSAO, god rays, and shadow fixes. Best of both worlds!
-
I think I'll end up picking and choosing armor sets between the two mods. Both are awesome and alot of it will come down to personal preference.

Probably just the armor. He should probably start a weapon compilation too!

A companion mod to Hvergelmirs Armor Retexture, this is a complete retexture of Skyrim's Steel armor and weapons. For now it's armor only, but weapons are coming eventually. In my opinion this steel retexture is superior to Cabal's, especially the fur parts. Looks really amazing. https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/25664/ As a side note, it looks like lthot is planning on retexturing all the armors and you can see the progress on the main HAR page. Kinda wish he'd work backwards or at least organize with Cabal so that they're not retexturing the same armors. Oh well. EDIT: Looks like he added it to HAR

Green Moss/lighting/texture/??? issue, STEP 2.2.0a
JudgmentJay replied to Valamyr's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I've never seen something like that. I would start with a fresh install of Skyrim and install the mods a few at a time to try and pinpoint the culprit. -

What about nuska? He's the author of Ethereal Elven Overhaul, High-Res Female Orc Skin, and High-Res Female Nord Skin. -
Reflection - New mod by Chesko. Brings back the idea that you need to sleep before leveling up. When you level up you can assign your Magicka/Health/Stamina, but you can't assign your perk point until you sleep. It also has those little level up messages from Morrowind and Oblivion. One caveat - it requires the latest "very" beta version of SKSE... 1.06.01 (obtainable here).

Nice. I'll give this a second chance now that it's been cleaned.
-
I'm playing this as well. Going for a 0 detection 0 kill run on very hard difficulty. Pretty fun so far. I highly recommend using the SweetFX injector because the game's colors by default are pretty washed out. There are also a few good .ini tweaks such as a higher FoV (which is very much needed imo).

Pretty sure I've seen him mention Photoshop multiple times.

AI & spawning problems with higher ugrids?
JudgmentJay replied to Necrokat's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Are you talking about unmodded Skyrim? Because modded, Skyrim typically sits anywhere between 2.5-3.2gb of physical RAM usage for me. Textures mods + uGrids=7 alone puts it at about 2.2gb when first loaded. Interface, sound, and gameplay mods bring it up about 300mb more. -
My bad, you're right. I forgot that I left that mod out of my install.
-
By the way Expanded Towns and Cities was updated to version 5.0 today and the author claims that all the UDRs are gone as well as any navmesh issues. Worthy of a re-test!
-
I checked this earlier and these textures are not covered by STEP, so it's a good addition.

Can't wait! -
Heh, yeah... this'll be great if it can somehow be restricted to things that should be reflective. Somehow I doubt that's possible though. Kinda wish he'd spend more time optimizing and fixing SSAO bugs but that's just me!
