[BUG] Strange Camera Glitch During Intro Sequence
Kelmych replied to thelordcaptain's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I don't have any of the problems that thelordcaprain has, but I've always felt that my character's eye height was too low. With a normal height character I feel like I'm always looking at the botton of the neck or even lower on NPCs. -
Identifying the "heavy" mods? [SOLVED - ENBoost]
Kelmych replied to DanielCoffey's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
I'll add a note about your experience to the ENBoost subsection and RH_Ironsights mod in the guide. I don't want to make ReduceSystemMemoryUsage=false be the general recommended default since the purpose of adding ENBoost to this guide was for the memory buffering. -
When to uncheck/turn off mods in Wrye Flash?
Kelmych replied to Snarkyfork's question in Wrye Bash Support
Mods listed by Wrye Bash/Flash as mergeable are automatically handled by the bashed patch process. The records are merged into the bashed patch and the mods are deactivated. There will be a plus sign instead of a check for these mods to indicate they have been merged into the bashed patch. This is the desired behavior. Don't change the plus sign by manually deactivating the plugins; let WB handle them. The previous post describes what to do with NoMerge plugins The boxes that are unchecked in the bashed patch selection are generally ones with no content (e.g., alias mod names), that don't actually work in WB (e.g., script contents), or that are not usually used (e.g. tweak names). Of course, f you like the WB approach to item sorting you can certainly check the Tweak Names box. Since you are using FO3 you might find the material in the Clear and Present Danger guide here on the STEP site useful (see my signature for a pointer). -
xEdit False Positive Conflicts
Kelmych replied to Electrocutor's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
Any change of cost, as an example, is a conflict and not a false positive. XEdit notes that there are differences among the values for this parameter as set by multiple plugins. Even if it is changed to the original value there was a conflict among multiple plugins. This happens a lot where a plugin changes a value to the original value from the game esm plugin, but it should actually be the value set by an intermediate plugin. These are often the most important and common conflicts that need manual resolution. -
xEdit False Positive Conflicts
Kelmych replied to Electrocutor's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
xEdit looks only at the data in the plugins and notes conflicts (differences). The game engine will merge some record types at runtime, and each Bethesda game can potentially merge a slightly different set of records. Bethesda does not publish lists of these; users have to discover which records are merged by the game engine. I don't consider these to be false positives since the identified records are indeed different, and there is no definitive list of which record types are merged by the game engine itself. This post by Arthmoor discusses some records that are merged by the Skyrim game engine. -
Anyone tried DALCO Inventory Sorter?
Kelmych replied to icetbr's topic in Fallout 3 - Clear & Present Danger
I haven't tried it. There is a sorting/renaming capability in Wrye Flash, but this probably generates a more extensive set of names. -
Identifying the "heavy" mods? [SOLVED - ENBoost]
Kelmych replied to DanielCoffey's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
I use FWE Alternate start also. I've tried the Ribet City start and more recently the Robco start. With all of these, and the normal start, there is a period of slowness when I enter the outside world especially if I pan the camera. I think this is due to the game loading various buffers for the cell. I later see this once in a while especially when entering the outside, but not often. -
Identifying the "heavy" mods? [SOLVED - ENBoost]
Kelmych replied to DanielCoffey's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
I'll look in more detail at this when I am at my computer. With 3 Gb of VRAM you shouldn't typically be having problems with textures. I'm not sure how much load the two landscape LOD mods add as I haven't used them extensively yet. Impact and perhaps EVE can cause slowing during combat. The Arefu quest mod seems to add a fair amount of load. Script based plugins that reduce items like PLFewerItems can cause loading if they are enabled for too long; after using them for a while it's a good idea to uncheck them in MO. I don't use Robco Certified because it isn't very robust. -
Typically Papyrus logs aren't very useful for finding problems. They're full of data from various mods that are not usually significant errors, and anabling the writing od Papyrus logs can cause problems as these interfere with other processes in the game engine. Sometimes noticing a pattern in the last problem written in the logs can be helpful, but otherwise I haven't found them very useful.

Make sure you are using the Wrye Flash version for FO3 from the FO3 section of the Nexus, not the Skyrim version.

SKYRIMLE S.T.E.P. compatibility with Stealth Skills Rebalanced (kryptopyr)
Kelmych replied to maxconn17's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I have used this mod with STEP Extended for a long time. I don't remember having any compatibility problems; I did check in TES5Edit when installed it and I didn't see any significant issues. -
I've been using it for a long time, and I have found it useful.

ACCEPTED SM Drop Lit Torches (by Strategy Master)
Kelmych replied to stoppingby4now's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
It certainly looks useful. I'll try using it and see how it seems. As GrantSP mentions, MCM menus are usually very helpful -
The Fallout 4 mod Satellite World Map recommends adding several parameters to Fallout4Custom.ini: [Pipboy]bPipboyDisableFX=1 [Display]fPipboyScreenEmitIntensityPA=1.25fPipboyScreenDiffuseIntensityPA=0.15 I don't see these parameters mentioned in Fallout4Prefs.ini for fINIp 4. I assume it's better to use MO to add them to Fallout4Prefs.ini vs. putting them in Fallout4Custom.ini?

Looking for a way to increase view distance LOD
Kelmych replied to Snarkyfork's topic in Fallout 3 - Clear & Present Danger
This mod referenced in the guide says it complements FO3LODGen and improves LOD. -
Solution wanted for Iron Sights drift
Kelmych replied to DanielCoffey's topic in Fallout 3 - Clear & Present Danger
One Reddit post in the referenced thread suggests using this mod to fix the aiming problem rather than making any changes to the Stutter Remover. Did you try it? -
Pipboy is to small after installing UIO
Kelmych replied to Snarkyfork's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
Mod Organizer saves the ini files when a profile is created, and if they are edited it saves (and then uses) the changes for that profile. Each profile has a separate set of ini files. MO does not change the version in <yourname>\Documents\My Games\Fallout3\ . NMM doesn't have profiles so it must be using the ini files in <yourname>\Documents\My Games\Fallout3\ . I don't know why they are different; I don't think any of the UI mods change the ini files; DarnUI requires some changes in the ini files to work properly but these need to be done manually. But the ini changes to support DarnUI don't involve the pipboy size. By the way, did you use fINIp 3 (Fallout INI Project 3) to initially configure the ini files? I have not seen this problem in my Fallout 3 game. -
There are two mods in the STEP Fallout 3 guide that address overall LOD. I suggest asking questions about FO3 in the Clear and Present Danger forum threads, by the way.

Water (dirty, pure) doesn't quench thirst

When we make an overall compatibility patch for the guide we'll include these fixes. -
Solution wanted for Iron Sights drift
Kelmych replied to DanielCoffey's topic in Fallout 3 - Clear & Present Danger
What is your Small Guns skill level? Unless it is quite high all the small guns have drift. I'll look at it in more detail with my game. My system is reasonably up to date (see system specs in signature). -
The dD-Dragonborn-Dawnguard-EBT Patch.esp patch is merged into the STEP Extended patch, not the STEP Combined PluginHF.esp.

I don't remember seeing this in my game. Has anyone else on the forum seen this? -
MO not starting FOSE for Fallout 3 goty
Kelmych replied to Snarkyfork's question in Mod Organizer Support
Getting the UI working properly is tricky. That is why it's at the beginning of mod installation. The installation fomod scripts for some mods change based on which plugins from other mods are already installed, so for some problems it is necessary to start over on installing the UI mods. -
MO not starting FOSE for Fallout 3 goty
Kelmych replied to Snarkyfork's question in Mod Organizer Support
You should not have problems starting FO3 through FOSE using Mod Organizer. The installation process details are in the Fallout 3 guide here on the STEP site. When using Mod Organizer Steam itself is not typically used. The FalloutLauncher replacer for Steam, which is described in the guide, allows Mod Organizer to "hook" Steam while starting the game to allow Steam overlays. There have been other attempts to allow Mod Organizer to hook Steam when starting FO3 (using FOSE or the Fallout Launcher) but AlexxEGs is the only one I know of that seems fairly robust. Note that the FalloutLauncher replacer isn't required to get FO3 running with Mod Organizer, it just allows Steam to be connected to the game. If you still have questions let us know; I suggest asking these questions in the Support thread for the Fallout 3 guide. There are cases where users have had problems getting FO3 to start when using Mod Organizer even when following the steps in the guide; we don't know why this happens. -
Many of the patches included with Kryptopyr's mods were created by others since she is often busy with the main parts of her many mods. I suggest creating an edited version of the patch and sending it to her for review (including details of what is changed and why).
