Modding advice based on my spec for a stable and fun experience?
Kelmych replied to Final_Fusion's question in General Skyrim LE Support
It isn't related to the problem you are discussing, but since you use CCOR you don't actually need any plugins from Cloaks of Skyrim or Winter is Coming. You need these mods installed, but only for the textures and meshes. The plugins can be moved to optional ESPs in the left pane of MO for the two mods.- 13 replies

Nothing Launches through Mod Organizer
Kelmych replied to spicykebab's question in Mod Organizer Support
You did run the FO4 Launcher initially outside MO to get the registry values set, right? Preferably you ran DoubleYou's fINIp program. -
Fallout 3, RH Ironsights Drift Caused by Stutter Remover
Kelmych replied to DrShloickerstein's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I don't recall having problems with drifting sights on weapons when using RH_Ironsights. Except for a few weapons, as noted in the FO3 guide on the STEP site (see my signature). I don't try to use RH_Ironsights with any of the Millenia weapons in my game because of the issues with RH_Ironsights and WMK in FO3. I thus don't have much experience with these. I also generally avoid using the Millenia replacers for standard vanilla weapons like the Assault Rifle. Which mods that you use affect the Assault rifle, and other weapons that have this drift problem?- 3 replies

Version 2.6 adds patches for two mods that are not in the STEP list, so the options for 2.6 for STEP use should be the same as for 2.5.

PB Broken Steel and Point Lookout are part of the combined PB plugin, so they don't get merged into the bashed patch since these plugins aren't used. schematics2.esp is marked no merge; I was apparently lookig at the original version.

How to troubleshoot texture problems?
Kelmych replied to GlassWizzard's topic in Fallout 3 - Clear & Present Danger
I looked in my game and I have the same situation. I'd always considered it to be an "undershirt" worn by NPCs but you're right it shouldn't be that way. The facial textures seem correct but the body ones don't. -
Antialiasing not working with Fallout 3, no post processor.
Kelmych replied to DrShloickerstein's question in Post-Processing Support
Thanks Audley for the excellent summary. A reference to your post was added to the Fallout 3 guide. -
I've seen situations in which Wrye Bash uses a different load order than the one in MO, and this can potentially cause problems like this. I expect it has something to do with settings, but it's hard to determine what is happening since for me the situation doesn't recur the next time I use WB.

Dynamic Distant Objects LOD - pre 2.xx
Kelmych replied to sheson's question in DynDOLOD & xLODGen Support
I went to the WB support thread and got Wrye Bash 307.201603282116 - Standalone Executable.7z by Utomno. The executable is dated 2016-03-28. I installed it into Skyrim\Mopy and also replaced the existing bashed patch used in MO with a version from the templates folder. I generated Bashed Patch, Skyrim.esp using this version of Wrye Bash. It has the same error in the bashed patch as the entry using the older version of Wrye Bash. In the bashed patch object 00009389 is in the Tamriel Worldspace block 0,-1 subblock 2,-3. The WB entry itself seems correct. The other plugins that modify this object have the block and subblock correct. The same block/sublock in the bashed patch has object 00009344. This object is also in the wrong block and subblock in the bashed patch. I repaired the entries in the bashed patch and am rerunning DynDOLOD. Should I post this error in the official WB forum or do I need to gather more information first? -

The clothing mod does typically determine the body skin texture, at least the base texture. -
How to troubleshoot texture problems?
Kelmych replied to GlassWizzard's topic in Fallout 3 - Clear & Present Danger
I assumed you already did the standard fixes of making sure that Archive Invalidation is set in MO, and that bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles=1 is set in Fallout.ini (as per the guide). These fixes account for the majority of Internet posts about this problem. -
Dynamic Distant Objects LOD - pre 2.xx
Kelmych replied to sheson's question in DynDOLOD & xLODGen Support
The bashed patch has this entry with both the block and subblock values reversed. The other plugins overwriting the Skyrim.esm cell have the correct block/subblock entries. If I run the bashed patch again will it fix this, or it is a bug in Wrye Flash? -

You might look in FO3Edit at the base radio object and see if it is possible to change the default radio station. I have never looked at these in detail. It might even be possible for them to default to off.

I'm not aware of a mod that does this. I don't know what YouTube does with vanilla Fallout 3 music from Bethesda. If that isn't the problem you could temporarily disable the mods that add music which YouTube thinks are copyrighted.

I was looking at the FO4Edit Nexus page (the location of the most recent TES5Edit) and at the documentation referenced there. One of the pages is the Skyrim Dirty Plugins List. It mentions 4 records that should be removed from Dawnguard.esm in addition to those removed by TES5Edit cleaning. I looked in Dawnguard.esm in my system and I found 3 of these records present even after 2 stages of TES5Edit cleaning (I didn't find the one in CELL 00039F67). Is this information accurate, and if so should we add the instructions to remove some or all of these to the instructions on the Dawnguard wiki page?

How to troubleshoot texture problems?
Kelmych replied to GlassWizzard's topic in Fallout 3 - Clear & Present Danger
It would help if you provide the name of the NPCs whose images you are showing so we can find them in the game and check them. It always possible that there may be differences between the face and body since they are provided by two separate mods, but others can check and see if the same issue happens with their game. There are other clothing mods than the Exeter ones for females; the Exeter ones are the only ones included in the guide since they they are the only comprehensive set of clothing and armor mods that use an underwear version of the body. The other female clothing mods typically don't add underwear to the body. -
No Weapon Swings/Sheathing Sounds Without C: install workarounds?
Kelmych replied to GrizzledTaco's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I have never installed a game on the system drive (C:). The game saves and some small configuration files are automatically there because the user directories are on the system drive, but Steam, the games (e.g., the Skyrim folder), and utilities used with the games such as Mod Organizer are installed elsewhere. It's a good idea to always set any folder used for the game files and utilities to allow Everyone full access. -
ACCEPTED Not So Fast - Mage Guild (by cdcooley)
Kelmych replied to WilliamImm's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I use Apocalypse also. My primary magic mod is Mighty Magick Skyrim since it has some features I like and (like Apocalypse) it can be used with other magic mods since it doesn't make any large changes to the magic perk tree. -
How to troubleshoot texture problems?
Kelmych replied to GlassWizzard's topic in Fallout 3 - Clear & Present Danger
I don't know of any videos or web pages that show using xEdit to examine a problem like this. Pick an NPC that is having problems with the head. Activate FO3Edit. Click the plus sign next to Project Beauty.esm and then click the plus sign next to Non-Player Character. Find the row with the NPC you want to check. The right hand window will show all the mods that change plugin records for this NPC. See if there are any records that are changed by mods other than Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch.esm, Project Beauty or a Blackened patch that includes Project Beauty content. -

I also activated this mod recently and I used the approach that Greg did on his second playthrough for the Saarthal quest. It worked properly. I just started the next mage guild quest (find books). -
[WIP] Mod Picker
Kelmych replied to Terrorfox1234's question in Mator's Utilities Support (archived, read-only)
This seems a bit like an automated version of BOSS (which grouped mods) but required a great deal of maintenance. The automation part, if I understand the FAQ, uses crowdsourcing to automate the building of the lists (unlike the manual approach used in BOSS). It also provides some automated recommendations based on analyses of the plugins (as LOOT does now).
