dstansberry Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Discussion thread:Book Covers Skyrim by DanielCoffey and doccdrWiki LinkThis looks interesting. It re-textures the books of Skyrim so that each one has a unique look. I think I may have to give it a go! Accepted Desaturated version for 2.2.9.1 Extended
Yggdrasilion Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 I second that. It's bonkers impressive in terms of scale and quite well executed. It's the author's first work, but I like it so far.
Vond Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 I second that. It's bonkers impressive in terms of scale and quite well executed. It's the author's first work, but I like it so far. It's included in SR and had a few tvinga that needs fixing for compatibility etc that are easy to fix however
DanielCoffey Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Running it through DDSopt reduces the size of the mod from 650Mb to 490Mb. While the 512x512 textures themselves are still 171Kb each, the 512x512 normals were halved in size from 342Kb down to 171Kb. This implies the author could save them in a different format.
z929669 Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 The principle of this mod is perfect for STEP. Let's bring in Neovalen's recommendations for the mod to this thread for context. Once we have some recommendations on optimizing for STEP, I think that this can be accepted.
Neovalen Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 The author was kind enough to host USKP and USKP-UHFP patches on his page made by WilliamImm and Myself. So obviously we would need those, there are also minor conflicts with Even Better Quest Objectives, but imagine a patch is not long in coming from WilliamImm for it (if he hasn't done it already).
WilliamImm Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I've already made a official patch for Book Covers Skyrim, and it will be uploaded once I finish tweaking the NMM installer that EbrithilUmaroth provided for EBQO. If anything, I'll try to make sure it's up by the end of the day today.
DanielCoffey Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 The size reduction for Book Covers going through DDSopt was because the specular maps on Book Covers were empty and DDSopt cleaned them out. The author is aware and will be working on a new release with specular maps included.
TechAngel85 Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Still need screenshots unless we've decide to go off the author's screens (which is not normal workflow for STEP mod testing).
rootsrat Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 I will provide some screens today. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2 ::EDIT:: Ok, here goes BCS vs HR-DLC comparison. No other mods enabled, no ENB. "Aedra and Daedra" -  - Alchemist's Journal -  - More to come soon. Bulk upload for imageshack is not working for me so I have to do one by oneÂ
rootsrat Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 See also my previous post on page 1 of this thread. BCS vs HR-DLC "Childrens' Annual"Â -Â Â -Â "2920 - First Seed"Â -Â Â -Â Last batch to come soon.
rootsrat Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 "A Gentleman's Guide To Whiterun"Â -Â Â -Â Ok, done. To me BCS is a clear improvement. Not much more to say.
z929669 Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Sorry to be a stick in the mud, but I really don't like the BCS textures at all. Vanilla are much better IMO. I like the BCS idea for adding book titles and other descriptors.

Omolong Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 I'm not a massive fan of the BCS textures, but I like the idea they've done. Basically a good idea, bad execution.
