Is this with a full Step install and iMaxParticles setting per our instructions in BethINI if so? Step Heavy ENB? No this is Step Milk Drinker ENB. iMaxPerticles is 6000. I also currently use Soft Shadow. 16 hours ago, TechAngel85 said: Beyond what Z asked, I'd add to that: Is your system within our recommended specs (listed at the beginning of the Guide)? My GPU mark is only 7000 but I also play at 720p. At high quality particle option, the FPS drop is really so much (40 - 80 fps). With Optimized option I only drop around 5-10 fps when come near the fire. More information: CPU: Ryzen 7 3750H GPU: GTX 1650 Mobile Ram 16GB At SSE Display Tweak I use borderless upscaler, 1080p 75%. Edited December 15, 2022 by duy123a

Can you comment on the visual difference or maybe post two screens of that fireplace with/wihthout the optimized vs high quality options, all other Embers options same as in the guide install instructions?

All other Embers options are the same as STEP guide. Pictures are taken at Riverwood inn. 1st Picture: Optimized Option, my fps is 90 at this time. 2nd Picture: High quality Option, fps 40. My opinion: The fire in high quality is slightly better a bit, and you can see a different shadow of firewood.

I think we will recommend optimized but with a note that HQ is slightly better with a significant performance cost. I'm assuming this will impact performance for any fires Embers touches with particle effects (so torches shouldn't add to the performance cost in our Embers config)
CorneliusC Posted December 15, 2022 Posted December 15, 2022 Thank you. Been using the optimized textures version for a while now without any noticeable differences or errors in my gameplay ...
z929669 Posted December 16, 2022 Author Posted December 16, 2022 Mod updated (nothing consequential to Step that I know of). Updated wiki instructions.

Magic effect consistency improvements, mostly for yellow flames. Fixed patch for Breezehome TNF Beds Plus.

Kattmandu Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 Updated...again. 'Further Customization' options have changed (mostly just renamed). 'No Red Glow' option is now depreciated.

I won't have time to test the impact of the chosen options (No Parallax and Vanilla Campsite Rocks both ticked), so if you could verify, that would be great. We definitely don't want parallax, but it's not clear what this impacts. We presumably want vanilla campsite rocks, but again, I've no idea what Embers is changing here. Embers may be better, but not if it conflicts with landscape or needs patching. I'm assuming no parallax and vanilla options are effectively what applied before this update.
Kattmandu Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 (edited) MindFlux has been updating this mod quite often. Now the Black Torch Smoke option is selectable (previously was greyed out). However, it looks like it's dependent upon Smoking Torches or Mathy79's Medieval Torch mod. Edited July 28, 2023 by Kattmandu 1
CorneliusC Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 Small update to the mod (version 2.8.4), which, among other things, fixes a missing texture, which would have lead to missing LOD with Giants' campfires (See this post about the DynDOLOD error messages).
