@Nsamurai

LOOT and FO4Edit work (NOTE: Loot sucks for FO4 as not enough people upload priority orders to the central database so it's sort function is poor ATM, in time it will be awsome)

to test that your installation is working open FO4edit go into a cell and make an overwrite mod, exit and save.

Does it appear in the overwrite at the Bottom of MO2? can you right click the overwrite and create mod?

If no then there is something still not right.

"It says the other plugins are not enabled, but I can still sort them"

this seems c:\users\%USERNAME%\appdata\local\fallout4 was not deleted and you have a modlist.txt in there and it's seeing the mods from NMM.

the early version of NMM frigged with the files in that folder they need to be deleted and reset by running the vanilla launcher from steam.

cell issue, fall through the earth running bug, CDT when building over "Cleaned" area. that sort of thing

(READING their forums it says they have performed exhaustive tests so those issues don't occur)

1 in a million is still chance of occurring.

Like my alternate settlements you can opt not to install it just as you can install any mod you choose.

the STEP/Overhaul NEED to LISTEN is in 3 areas

how to install MO2

{NOW} The settlements page as that is conflicting mod territory.

VIS+DEF_UI (mx farming,weapn displays) conflicts

DEF_UI + Armorsmith (swf conflict)

AWK + Bettermod description (4 conflicts)

I can put up a 500mod install but that would only be for my entertainment Nobody other than you has asked for anything specific. The Settlements Under construction page is an overhaul for compatibility from the OLD list.

I think what I might do is and old saves link (pre-creation kit) and main list.

so No SKE and just sub menu re-placers.

Something that we are far away from but I think would be good to keep in mind is that once a list is finalized, we could resolve most of those conflicts ourselves correct? Like by fixing them in FO4 Edit and making that into a mod that can be downloaded by others?

I like the list you've got up right now. The only two additions would be the aforementioned Snapable Junk Fences as well as the Do It Yourshelf mod. Because nothing is more frustrating (well other than getting those junk fences lined up) then trying to put stuff on all those empty shelves!

Edit: There is one I think that should be kept an eye on, but probably not added to the list right now and that is Conquest. It's a really neat idea in that you can set up temporary settlements around the wasteland. It's not to a point I'd recommend everyone doing it, but it's to a state that I'm going to test it.

there are a few issues, I'm slowly changeing the mods, there about 5 that I'm still testing. Yea there will be a patch for vis and a lighting one so I can have darker night vivid and 2 fog enhancers/removers. Had my 1st cdt after installing that new infinite settlement budget plugin will lookinto it tomorrow I have just been playing with the settlements and lights and shadows and reached the limit so just trying to find one that works for me and a broken save game  hehehehe

No problem, once I'm finish getting my mods setup I'll be able to provide input on that sort of thing.

So a few more observations I'll just put here when you get around to it:

1) FAR has been taken down, and I'm curious if you've noticed? It says it'll be back moderately soon but just not sure when this was done. Might be nothing, could be back up in a few hours all I know.

2) At what point in the process of all this should people use the Texture Optimization Project?

3) Another question is about mods created prior to the CK that never received an update. For mods like NX Pro Farming, I just wouldn't take that chance; not only do you have to worry about incompatibilities, but as it hasn't been properly structured that can cause issues. But with texture mods, I don't really know if there is such a problem in those cases. I'm curious if you know of any performance issues using an pre-CK texture mod as opposed to one build with it.

4) Clean Waters of the Commonwealth has been taken down as well. WET has an option in there for cleaner looking waters though.

1) yea I noticed It's just a lod replacement for distance views was giving it a chance to come back online.

2) hmm, Texture Optimization Project(TMP) IMO should be done 1st but can be done at any time it would require some thinking as you "REALLY" need to backup your fallout 4\data\*textures.BA2 and rebuild an optimized set (with Archiver2 from the Creation Kit) then replace the original files. I'm still chasing down a programmer to help me out to make up a script for mo2. Once done it will automate the Process I do by hand.

Textures and Performance:- 80% of the landscape textures in game are 2048x2048 trees, critters, odds and ends are 1024x1025 or 512x512.

- The point IMO of the TMP is if you have a low end PC and can't do 30FPS then you need all the help you can get. Saving Vram is a good place to start

- In this list/loadout is all about the pretty. IMO all the Bad(Blurry) 2k textures should be compressed to 1k or 512 if there are no HI def versions. Then all the textures in the list overwrite them anyway.

Performance Hit you say.....Depends on the Video card and if you are running ENBBoost. Hi Polly meshes impact Rendering speed Textures are just photos that you look at. The only impact they can cause is from the specualr map (light reflection) But the engine itself is POTATO so I do not believe it's a concern.

BUT if you install a Overhaul WIP that adds 10million polly mesh to a bloatfly then you will play at 1fps.(Unless you have a Master race computer)

Also if you add Dynamic Shadows to all lights in game you will play with 1fps.(Unless you have a Master race computer)

If you want to check how fast your computer is in game install https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10075/? with all light and shadow enabler and see how you go. If you can play at 60 FPS then install every mod on the Nexus.

I get 1-3fps with a GTX580 (GTX960 equiv)

3) texture replacers - like in the TEXTURE LANDSCAPE list are all just overwriting Vanilla Files no issues. NX Pro Farming is for the food planters(Not the poo and compost) it's SKE compatible and lives in a sub menu so no issue.

4) Mods that are removed (taken down by moderators) I'll remove from the list, Ones hidden by mod authors (or people steeling their passworsd Cough Bejinn Wives) I think 2-3weeks is ok for them to be there I'll make a note at the top.

Overhauls i.e.

https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/12511/?

https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/11853/?

https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2500/?

As we do not have BOSS any more (FO4Edit have a basic Merged Patch Function 2months ago is was OKish)  I'll have to do a leveled/Item list especially if you add miniute men into the mix.

So yea I can/will add Overhauls but they will only be the ones "I" like and they will have to enhance the vanilla game and Add to the "Immersion" So I'll throw up a basic list of those and you can (or anyone else)can have a scrounge and see if there is something else exceptional out there.

Also Weapons/Crafting addons: I've not really looked into them if there are ones that have a realistic look or add amazing crafting utility please tell me and I'll review.

I'm curious, if you optimize the textures, and then download texture mods afterwards, doesn't that negate the work done when those textures replace the optimized ones?

Optimized textures from those packs are "basically" reducing the texture to 512x512 (some of those mods do change the bump map or spec a little) All the "Big" textures are landscape ones.

"optimize" is a misnomer, your associating it to "awesomeness" if you have integrated graphics then you want the smallest textures to stop using all your texture memory if you have a 3+Gig video card texture size (with enb) it does not matter to much. (UNLESS you 5000 4k fridges in a room)

As a test you can start a vanilla game with enb hit "*" it will give you fps (i get about 54fps with a GTX580  a 960 equiv) i do not see any speed performance other than mipmap related ones (textures poping into focus) with a compressed texture pack.

Visually there is little difference (as Most NOT all textures are POTATO) other then having less mip level so further away objects will be blurry. Highly recommended for shared memory video cards and 1gb or less

My game uses 68Gig of mods and I run 32Fps with mostly 4k textures.

I suppose that is correct. It's just that I know that there are a lot of textures that are apparently way bigger than they need to be. But I saw some of the texture mods resolve it anyways as well as making it look better.

????? mmmmmm

I have a "proper" 16:10  24" 1920x1200 monitor it's capable of 94dpi. Game textures are 72dpi soo a 2k texture will fill the entire width of my screen at it's max resolution. should be good right?

Objects work in this way - their mipmap starts at 0 ie 2k then shows a smaller one the further you are from it)

look at the ground does that look like 2k? google "ground texture 2k" and look at the pics does it look like that?

No?....

landscape "seems" to start at mip level 1 soo a 2k is seen as 1k so half my screen

wrapped map textures i.e. potholes in the road seem to start at min level 4 so either 512 or 256

The point (unless somebody works it out) is you have a higher texture to get an OK pic on the screen.

With objects (items) in the game you only "See" 4k if your face is plastered to it so you normally see 2,1,512 depending on your distance.

SO in a nutshell 2k for a big screen (1920x whatever or  bigger) and 1k map and spec is good enough for a small screen (1440 or less) 1k is heaps.

If you have a UHD 4k then turn on multi-sample up-scaling and play at a lower res because unless they are machine made rendered textures or someone uses a UHD Camera to take photos they are 2k-3k stretched  or worse.

(If anyone is using a 4k photo texure in any mod tell me I'd like to see it awsomeness.)

(Machine made 4k is a hand painted 4k tile in a graphic program)

Oh and 1 more thing the WHOLE reason for BA2 is it's a "streaming" archive that sends the mip maps to the game not load all the maps in the graphic memory (in my understanding and texture loading time seem to verify this) if you want to "Optimize" your textures, compress them and that will "boost" your "Awesomeness" with "Optimization".......

base note:

D.E.C.A.Y - Better Ghouls interferes with functional displays and VIS even with patch - load above VIS

Raider Overhaul WIP with ae patch interferes with adding extra enhancement to items. Extra patch required.

Super Mutant Redux - minor issues with AK,VIS and Vivid Extra Patch required

Soooo, things seem a little squishy I seem to be a steamroller in verrry brittle power Armour.

I added a couple of weapon mods and balance I'll see how it goes (most of them are old like me so if the ballance is good I'll drop a patch)
