Jorus Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Discussion thread:Beards by HvergelmirWiki Link Beards 2.0 by lthot. This mod is the latest addition of a brilliant series of vanilla retexture projects best known as Hvergelmir's Retextures. The author made it with ENB in mind. Also the mod unlocks (optional) braided beards that were precedently not used by Bethesda in the stock game. Unfortunately, the quality of these vanilla meshes are not very good and look a bit off with the rest. Now if any skilled 3d modeler could offer any assistance.. Last but not least, the new Hvergelmir's Aesthetics series is shaping up nicely (Brows 2.0 retex mod is out) and lthot will redo vanilla hairs, tint masks (makeup), complexion and war paints in the near future.
Besidilo Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Looks better than my non-beard, that's for sure.
Sairven Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Been using this one since it first popped up on Nexus. :D As crazy as it may sound, use the standard-res instead of the high-res one. The "lesser quality" one blends better. The hi-res is.. funky.
z929669 Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Anyone care to post screen compares with HQ Beards? If this one is going to be included, that is the one to beat ;)
CiXwOw Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 I can't be bothered making screenshots right now, but I compared the dds files when I first downloaded Beards (it was when it was first released, but I don't think anything has changed). Beards is definitely the better looking pack. Although I know without screenshots my opinion doesn't mean much. But after checking the files, removing HQ Beards seemed like a no brainer to me.

Things can look very different while in game because of meshes, lighting, etc.
Kelmych Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Neovalen includes the mod in his Skyrim Revisited guide so perhaps he has some screenshots.
Hvergelmir Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 That would be lthot, not ithot. Anyway, there are plenty of screenshots at either respectable mod pages if comparing texture files aren't doing it for the lot of you. That said Regnbager, the author of HQ Beards is a big fan of my beard textures himself and has given me his endorsement and so forth. What a good sport, really commendable and respectable guy.
Jorus Posted January 21, 2013 Author Posted January 21, 2013 That would be lthot, not ithot. Thx. Corrected. :)
WilliamImm Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 @Hvergelmir - Since you are on this site, do you want to take a look at the STEP 2.2.1 working changelog thread? Specifically, from the part I linked to onward. The team compared your mod against a similar mod (HQ Beards), and for the most part, that mod won out, because it was considered more coarse and realistic, while your mod sometimes had mustaches that looked painted on. Sorry if this sounds harsh - this is still feedback to your mod, and any feedback is helpful to make it even better. Also, I am noticing that you have negative 1 posts right now. What, posted while in Minus World or something?
Neovalen Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 That looks amazing... definitely appreciate your work and thanks for giving us a heads up.
