  1. If this is the initial cart ride into Helgen, look at the CPU load because the initial cart ride is script intensive and doesn't really use the GPU much. For a better feel for the game overall, coc whiterun and run towards Whiterun to see how well your FPS holds up here. The terrain (water and mountains) should exercise the GPU a lot more without all the excessive scripts so you can get a feel for what to expect in the rest of the game. I think another good area is running from Markarth to Solitude.
  2. Install it like any other mod using Mod Organizer.
  3. Did you install Steam and have Steam install Skyrim? Have you run the Skyrim Launcher from Windows so it can setup all the registry entries and INI files?
  4. Post the exact error messages you are seeing.
  5. Make sure you're using using SKSE and ENBoost, and check Memory Blocks Log to make sure the crash near Whiterun isn't a memory allocation issue. For stuff falling out of the sky, make sure you have VSync enabled and/or capped to 60 FPS. The physics in Skyrim does wonky stuff like this if it gets above 60 FPS. I have no idea why you'd want to extract Skyrim - Meshes.bsa or why you'd want to have two installs of Skyrim, but this is probably another topic for another time. I'll just say it's a lot easier to switch to Mod Organizer so you can switch profiles on the fly.
  6. You can pretty much organize it however you want with Mod Organizer on the SSD or the HDD, downloads on the SSD or HDD, and mods on the SSD or the HDD. I keep the mods folder on the SSD so that Skyrim is always loading assets from the faster SSD, but I don't use Mod Organizer to download mods from Nexus. There is absolutely nothing wrong with doing so, it's just that I tend be a bit obsessive-compulsive about keeping mods organized in a structure in which I can find them. Specifically, I download all my mods with the browser and store them in categorized folders (using pretty much the Nexus categories) with the files stored in a folder with the name of the mod (e.g. P:\Games\Skyrim\Visuals and Graphics\Static Mesh Improvement Mod with all of SMIMs files in this folder). I have the browser set to ask me for a download folder to make this a bit easier. I do it this way primarily so I don't have to download all these mods every time I need to create a new profile, especially given that a lot of the big mods aren't updated very often, and it helps me know that files with obfuscated names like "Non BSA Version-10625.6.7z" belong to HD Rabbits Plus. I'm not picking on HD Rabbits Plus, just wondering how anybody knows what mod that file belongs to if it's dumped in with a thousand other files in the Downloads folder. I also hit Nexus about once a week or so to find any mods that need to be updated and check out any interesting mods that hit the front page. Of course, every so often I have to go through these folders to delete any older versions of mods that I'm no long use or need. I don't typically update mods on the fly during a playthrough (unless it's specifically to fix a bug I'm experiencing), so when I finish the game and setup a new profile I'll purge the old versions of mods and keep the current versions. tend to be a bit lax about what I delete so I still have a lot of older versions of mods that I need to think about getting rid of at some point... one day.
  7. I think this may be just your setup. I went to the Skyforge in Whiterun and I do see the windmill.
  8. The log file you posted doesn't really show anything, but the log in the zip seems to tell a fuller story: DEBUG (00:49:17.0914): create process (w) null - ".\hkxcmd.exe" convert -v:WIN32 "temporary_logs\0_master.xml" "0_master.hkx" (in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\data\tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users) - hooking DEBUG (00:49:17.0914): process failed to start (267) INFO (00:49:17.0929): Windows Exception (e0434352). Origin: "C:\Windows\syswow64\KERNEL32.dll" (769ae733). Last hooked call: unsigned long __stdcall GetModuleFileNameW_rep(struct HINSTANCE__ *,wchar_t *,unsigned long) With this we know that GenerateFNISforUsers.exe is trying to execute hkxcmd.exe to convert the 0_master.xml file into 0_master.hkx file, but the process failed to start -- presumably because Mod Organizer can't inject the hook for GetModuleFileNameW. Unfortunately, the hresult it traps (e0434352 or E0-CCR) is basically just the base exception .NET uses to trap Win32 and COM exceptions. In any case, it seems really odd that Mod Organizer stopped injecting at this point and it doesn't seem to make any sense unless perhaps antivirus software yanked the rug out from under Mod Organizer. I'm wondering this might have something to do with permissions on the C:\Program Files (x86) folder. We generally recommend installing Skyrim, Mod Organizer, etc. in folders other than C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files (x86) since these are typically locked down. As Grant says, double check your anti-virus software to make sure it isn't getting in the way. You might even just temporarily disable any antivirus software so it can't interfere. I really don't want to recommend this, but run Mod Organizer as an administrator and see if this lets you run GenerateFNISforUsers.exe. Grant: I have the archive file off copy.com if you want a copy. EDIT: The file is still on copy.com. Use this link in case the URL shortener can't rotate those characters right-side up from down under.
  9. You might try running it again without Generic Specific Animations checked to see if this helps. I doubt it will change the outcome, though. Just to double check, have you run the Skyrim Launcher so that the game sets all the registry entries and such that FNIS needs to find the data folder? In any case, I'll download the latest FNIS 5.5. Fix 1 Complete tomorrow and try it as well. This should be the complete version of FNIS, so it's odd that you're getting invalid directory name. i can't think off the top of my head which directory name it thinks is invalid (and it doesn't help that it's keeping this information secret).
  10. In Mod Organizer, click the Configure executables icon (the two cogs), click on the one that runs GenerateFNISforUsers.exe and double check the Start in path. This should either be blank or the same path that contains the GenerateFNISforUsers.exe file. In other words: Binary: C:\Games\Mod Organizer\mods\FNIS Behavior V5 5 -- ALWAYS necessary\tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users\GenerateFNISforUsers.exe Start in: C:\Games\Mod Organizer\mods\FNIS Behavior V5 5 -- ALWAYS necessary\tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users This is somewhat of a shot in the dark, but I remember getting this error when I mistakenly entered a different path in the Start In textbox. If the Start in textbox is blank, it should be fine. I also notice you have gender specific animations checked. Have you actually installed any gender specific animation mods yet?
  11. This behavior doesn't have anything to do with Mod Organizer. Verify you have all drivers installed properly and that you're using the latest video card driver for Windows 10. If the video driver comes from Windows Update, install the latest non-beta driver from the manufacturer (AMD or NVidia).
  12. If anyone needs a list, these are the mods in STEP Extended that have the unofficial patches as masters.
  13. Click Configuration Settings (the wrench and screwdriver), go to the Plugins tab, click FoMod Installer, and make sure Enabled and Prefer are both set to true. It sounds as if it may be using the external or manual installer.
  14. Press the spacebar after selecting all the mods.
  15. If you have the categories set up nicely in Mod Organizer, it might be easier to group by Categories, expand the category you need, and go down the list setting the priority in sequential order. It's still going to be a grind to go through all the mods, but it beats scrolling all over creation.
  16. GamerPoets has a video that details installing FNIS in Mod Organizer. Note that you do not need the Creature Pack or the Spell add-on so you should skip these two steps. EDIT: After you install FNIS in the video, pause the video and also install FNIS Behavior V5_5 Fix 1 and click Merge when prompted to merge the fix into FNIS 5.5 Always Required. Alternatively, you can install just FNIS Behavior V5_5 Fix 1 COMPLETE. This one includes both the 5.5 Always Required and FNIS 5.5 Fix 1 merged into one installer so it might be a little easier to install. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MqZ-EPdBvk
  17. This makes sense because elemental sodium (and this is a real thing in our real world) when dropped into water creates hydrogen and hydrogen is explosive as can be seen in this video.
  18. Now that's service! I remember when I first installed Windows 7 on an SSD, it took longer to get the the ASUS BIOS screen than to boot Windows. Part of this was due to the long pause on the RAID info section, so I had to go digging around to figure out how to disable that since I don't use RAID on my PC. I bought a copy of Witcher II dirt cheap from GOG and played it for about 15 minutes or so because I just can't play in third person. It just doesn't feel natural and I can't get the character to go where I want. Some kind of spacial dexterity malfunction?
  19. If you check only the options shown in the recommendations, yes you end up with several ESPs instead of the merged ESP. All of these ESPs are then moved to the optional plugins in the mod properties window because they aren't needed. If you scroll to the very bottom of the page, you'll see that these plugins are redundant because the functionality comes from either the Unofficial Skyrim Patch or the STEP Patch. In most cases, all of these plugins were merged into the STEP patch so it doesn't take up quite so many plugin slots.
  20. I usually use HDMI if it's available or DisplayPort if HDMI isn't available. As I recall, DVI-D works about as well although I prefer HDMI. VGA doesn't haven't the bandwidth so toss that cable in the garbage.
  21. I'm getting a little rusty at this well since I build a new computer about once every 3 to 5 years, and I imagine even this rate is slowing down since it really isn't practical to build from scratch quite so often. I don't even bother keeping up with the latest and greatest anymore since that's becoming to mean a gigantic speed boost of 5% to 10%.
  22. When you get to this point, DynDOLOD.esp should be dead last in your load order (in the right pane). You shouldn't run Loot to sort the plugins until after DynDOLOD has completed.
  23. Ah yes... the infamous "smoke" test. I think you should be fine using the split cable. My power supply has four 40A rails, so I used the split cable to my video card and it works fine. If I remember correctly, I think you went with a power supply that has a single 12V rail. In any case, it's all the same 12v supply -- "rail" basically just defines how many over-current/short-circuit protectors are used. With a single rail, you have one protector at something like 100+ amps whereas with four rails I have one 40A protector on each connector.
  24. Might you possibly be referring to Skill Interface that was removed from Nexus or New HD Skill Interface? Just taking a shot in the dark based on what I could find.
  25. If you installed Static Mesh Improvement Mod according to the STEP directions, I don't think you should have an SMIM-Merged-All.esp. I think you get this file if you select Install Everything with Dragonborn DLC.
