Missing Texture for Ebony Blade Sheath
GrantSP replied to MonstarVirus's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I believe you are correct. Thank you. -
Ah... good to know. I hadn't bothered to check the guide lately, its been a long time since I made any changes to my cleaning regime. Last time i checked though, my MO behaviour wasn't what was described so I guess you guys are just too quick.

Question regarding 2.B. Clean the Update ESM
GrantSP replied to TheOne320's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I too have seen this and there is currently an open issue with a couple of questions to @Tannin about this behaviour. I'm not 100% sure of when the change in behaviour came in, around 1.3.4 I think, but there is something different about it. Previously cleaned ESMs would replace the existing and the backup would be in the 'overwrite', now I get a cleaned ESM AND the backup in the 'overwrite and nothing in 'Data'. This means moving the cleaned files back into 'Data', or a new cleaned mod folder, and proceeding. -
Missing Texture for Ebony Blade Sheath
GrantSP replied to MonstarVirus's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Do you mind posting which version of MO you are using? With the 1.3.8 release there was a lot work put into the FOMOD installer and it would be good to know if the fixes are working or if there is still more to do. -
There is, I believe, a change in behaviour with the way MO saves the modified ESM files. I'm not 100% sure of which version introduced it but the modified file used to replace the file in the Data folder and a backup copy was saved in a backup folder. Now it has been observed the modified file AND the backup both get moved to the 'overwrite' folder and this means moving the cleaned ESMs back into Data. I've got a comment or two in an open issue waiting for clarification from @Tannin on this. If it is the case the cleaning guides may need a bit of tweaking.

Their rationale I think is quite simple: all interfaces are to be uniform across the various platforms. Whether or not that interface works for everyone is secondary, first step is to bring everyone onto the same page. I've been using Windows since MS-DOS 6.22/Windows 3.11 and no matter what they do there will still be someone that doesn't like it. Now that phones/tablets/PCs are ubiquitous MS needs to play catch up with everyone else.

FNV not running through MO (NVSE, FNV4GB, New Vegas.exe, Launcher.exe)
GrantSP replied to Seraphim's question in Mod Organizer Support
Use one of the many hosting sites like DropBox, Copy.com, Google Drive or anything else then post the link to that file. -
FNV not running through MO (NVSE, FNV4GB, New Vegas.exe, Launcher.exe)
GrantSP replied to Seraphim's question in Mod Organizer Support
hmm... if LOOT is saying the DLC are dirty and you are sure you have cleaned them then I'd hazard a guess you have either installed LOOT incorrectly or the cleaned DLC are not those in the Data folder of the game. Keep in mind if you had previously cleaned them and then 'verified via Steam', they will again be those original "dirty" files. The later versions of MO have made a change to the way the DLC are handled upon cleaning them. Previous versions updated the original files and placed them back in the Data directory, it may be the case that the cleaned files you have from previous profiles are in the FNVEdit_Backup folder and the new "dirty" files are back in the Data folder, because you verified them via Steam. Could you do a search for the FNVEdit_Backup folder to see if you have the "cleaned" ESMs and their backups in those folders. The backup files will be named like this: DeadMoney.esm.backup.2015_01_26_14_46_06Where the figures are the date/time stamp of the edit. As to your last question, I'm assuming by 'plugin' you are actually meaning to say 'profile' in which case the answer is "No", the same cleaned files are those used by all profiles. So, assuming the DLC issue can be understood, we now have a working position to start at. Copy this profile, with MO's 'Profile Manager', and start adding the next few mods in the guide. Before you do that though, it might be a good idea to zip up the current working profile and post a link here. Also delete everything in the MO 'logs' folder and start a game and also post those logs and your ModOrganizer.ini here, perhaps put everything in the same archive. That will give us a baseline to check against if any issues arise in the future. -

GrantSP replied to Seraphim's question in Mod Organizer Support
OK, let's go back over what you've stated you have done. Your initial post says you managed to get all the way through the guide to the point where you installed the UI mods and did the test start of the game and everything was fine. Is that correct? If so we need to get back to that condition. It's probably best to verify the game via Steam (again), then generate a new set of default inis and create a new profile in MO and re-install up to the point you did previously. Run the game and check that it is working as expected. Then make a copy of that profile and start adding in sections of the guide in the newly copied profile. This way you will have a fresh working profile to fall back to. This step is going on the assumption that something is not working in the mods you have installed as nothing in the game's folders will be changed from this point on. -
Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback
GrantSP replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
Ahh... Nexus must be working systematically through their sites. The New Vegas links were doing that the other day and I had to change a heap of them. Might be a good time to look through all the guides and wikis. -
Cannot install Ultimate Deadly Encounters, Sands of Time
GrantSP replied to DiaborMagics's question in Mod Organizer Support
Where is MO giving this message? I have just now grabbed this, rather large, mod and installed it successfully with no errors whatsoever. The actual download is nothing complicated, just a nicely packaged archive that only needs you to set the top level folder as the 'Data' folder to install it, but that is the same with a number of mods installed in MO. There should be no need for MO to try and access the *.wav file you mention other than to copy it to the install location. Doing that function is exactly the same as for any other file, regardless of the format, *.wav, *.dds or *.esp. The only thing to note I can see is, because it is a large archive, and the extract dialog in MO isn't shown as a separate process in the taskbar, there was an occasion when it seemed to vanish from the screen only to reappear a few seconds later. I put that down to the copy process working through the list of files and the UI not matching the speed. That would vary based on the speed and power of each machine. -
Only update I might offer is I've PM @jazzisparis on both his Nexus and Bethsoft accounts to ask for the source code to his UIO NVSE plugin. I figure it would be very helpful to see exactly how that plugin does what it does. Haven't received any word back yet, but I'm hopeful. I may not be able write new code but I think I can decypher existing code well enough to understand the basics.

GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
GrantSP replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
I realised I had never installed this mod so I hadn't actually read the instructions. I can see why newer users might be confused so I 'tweaked' them a little to try and fix that. I think I might go through and add a link(s) to the MO guide about how to use manual install so the guide can just say "use MO's manual install" and the link can show the 'nitty-gritty' if needed. -
This looks very impressive, I think I may investigate it a bit later on after I finish this current game. Agreed, and since Fallout 4 is based on the Creation Engine used in Skyrim I think it is a safe bet that most of the cool mods their can easily be ported to Fallout 4. Yeah, according to his mod list he does use PMT- Balance. If though that is what the result is, I find it intriguing to justify how that is an improvement! I did find Gopher's argument flawed though, sure the AI did look stupid with them all running around in the killzone just getting picked off, but there are many areas of the game that don't sit properly when compared to 'real life', why pick on just the AI? I commented on his page about that Legion spy in the Crimson Caravan he killed that needed TWO shots from a large-caliber handgun in the back of the head! Just how is that realistic? He's tough, but not that tough. Still any change to AI should be investigated in my books, it can always do with improving.

You should have no issues by reverting those changes as far as I can see. I would imagine the changes are purely a design choice in RobCo Certified to make equiping clothing quieter, as you surmised. You could make a changed version of that plugin, rather than editing the original, or perhaps the best bet would be to make those changes in your bashed patch.

Followed Guide game wont launch Help!
GrantSP replied to adzc1987's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
Best way to check if you have 'ballsed 'em up' is to remove them and let the launcher generate new ones. If you can't even get the game to start from the launcher you may also want to 'verify the cache integrity' from within the Steam client. At any rate, best option now is to start from a clean slate, don't try removing things looking for an issue, work the opposite way with a clean, minimal install. Ensure that a vanilla game can start with no issue and then proceed to installing the mods. -
ACCEPTED Unofficial High Resolution Patch (by Unofficial Patch Project Team)
GrantSP replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Don't know whether I'd call that an error with the LOOT messages, rather just the way LOOT is conveying information. Those four plugins are shown as not active, they will lack a checkmark beside their names, but the information listed with them is relevant to how they should be enbled, if you so choose. The same thing can be seen with any plugins that have requirements for other plugins. If those requirements are not met, the message will be shown. Could LOOT be improved by showing those messages ONLY when the plugin is active? Possibly. -
Game freezing after ~30 seconds of being in
GrantSP replied to Natorius's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
You have the FNV4GB set up correctly? If it is loading correctly there will be a small dialog with a progress bar that displays on game start and the launcher should not start, it goes straight to the game menu. -
I'll take that as a definitive 'worthless' then. Thank you.
-
After watching one of Gopher's videos and then reading the ensuing discussion, this mod Enemy AI - Tactics - NPC Healing was mentioned and I wonder if anyone has any input on its worth? The comments in Nexus seem to be very evenly divided between 'worthless' & 'essential', which isn't very helpful in making a decision. While we all agree AI is a very difficult thing to make, even a slightly better outcome than vanilla would be better, wouldn't it?

There is a minor issue with AI implementation that is being addressed. Read this post and see if the steps outlined fix the issue, if it is BSA related.

Exactly. The disc version just works for me really well. Yes there are one or two minor things to do, but I have no issue. -

If you mean is there now no need to extract all the BSAs? then, yes, all is good. BSAs can be loaded with no issue. -
GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback
GrantSP replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
Whether it is a minor glitch on Nexus part or not I took the opportunity to do an edit of the links so they are all now of the same style. All should be good now. Thanks for pointing that out.
