  1. Who keeps unsticking this thread? >_
  2. I see you're logic; however, if it's added I'd say it's not for Core for two reasons: 1) The retextured color deviates from vanilla as it's brighter and more white and 2) the optional that won out is an even greater deviation from vanilla.
  3. Langley may win for ash, but for the wood it's SHD hands down. Again, the compares above. I don't like how drastic the wood in changed in Langley. The vanilla door looks like it "belongs" better than the Langley door. You can also notice there are parts missing from the table in the Langley shot. The author most certainly doesn't go for a vanilla "look and feel" in his/her re-textures.
  4. I would say it is too close to call (1 vote) and should be left to an administrative/moderator vote (which is how we usually hand these close calls).
  5. Again, I've for STEP and not Langleys. STEP Core look much more like fluffy ash what would have fallen like snow; thus, looks more realistic. As for the comments on the wood, I'm still for STEP because Langleys changes from the vanilla intent of the texture. The decal on the wood in vanilla is a carved/burnt/engraved decal. On Langleys, it no longer looks carved or burnt in. It appears to be embossed rather than the vanilla's intended engraved look.
  6. From these shots I have to say that my preference is STEP, but I'd like to see more of the textures before deciding.
  7. No, those are not covered by Beauty. There are 20+ extra textures in Re-Defined and that is why I've voting for keeping Re-Defined and overwriting it with Beauty.
  8. that sounds like a lot of fun Eh, I'll just active mods one by one in the Core Profile til I find the issue.Got it taken care of. Even Better Quest Objectives was the culprit. I had to make a custom file for it so it would install correctly. Need to PM WilliamImm about the Non-Essential Killable Children patch.

  10. I think we're good here. Langley's will be a huge undertaking, but you can work on any of the mods here in the testing area; however, any compare/testing takes some time and isn't always fun. That is why MTs seem to drop like flies around here. lol! It took me about 2 hours to gather these compares because I had to run through the dungeons and then run to find the locations (it's much quicker when you have all the needed locations discovered). Not to mention switching back and forth between mods and in and out of the game takes time too. I did find out that my STEP: Extended profile will not load but my STEP: Core will. So I found yet another task I have to troubleshoot to find out what is causing MO to not load the full STEP installation.
  11. Thanks! I'm trying to give the new MTs examples of what type of compares provide the best benefit for making good judgements when voting comes around.
  12. My review: After seeing he compares in-game, I can't believe I've never noticed how "overdone" Re-Defined Dungeons looks. Overall texture wise, Beauty of Skyrim is the closest to vanilla. Re-Defined completely "redefines" the bump maps to be much more flat. Color wise it's 50/50 for both mods being closest to vanilla...sometimes it's Re-Defines and sometimes it's Beauty. The same goes for the overwrite shots. I like the vanilla wood in the first set of compares better than those that are included in Re-Defined. However, in the second set Re-Defined's ground textures combined with Beauty's looks the best. You'll also notice in the overwrite that Re-Defined makes some of the wall textures darker and "rougher" looking. This looks great is is present in many places throughout the dungeons when using both mods in this manner. Finally, you have to consider the textures that Re-Define includes which Beauty does not (yet). Like the structures with the words of power written on them. My vote is to keep Re-Defined Dungeons; however, install Beauty of Skyrim after it to overwrite the conflicting textures. Best of both mods! :) Compares: https://forum.step-project.com/showthread.php?tid=2772&pid=45178#pid45178
  13. These compares are of Vanilla with HRDLCs, current STEP (Re-defined Dungeons), and Beauty of Skyrim - Dungeons as well; however, in the forth show I have Beauty of Skyrim overwriting Re-Defined Dungeons since Re-Defined provides textures which Beauty does not. The mods were still loaded into a vanilla setup with no other STEP mods active for a direct compare. Vanilla >> Re-defined >> Beauty of Skyrim >> Re-Defined overwritten by Beauty Here is an example of a texture that is provided by Re-Defined which Beauty does not Re-Defined >> Beauty of Skyrim Here, Beauty is identical to vanilla HRDLCs.

  15. Did you not get the memo or are you just joking? Bethesda announce a while back that the last update would be the last. That they were moving on to other projects.
  16. Driver version 320.49 is out as well as some new beta drivers; however, I only install the stable drivers on my system. :)
  17. One little quirk that I'm having which I found last night while fooling around, is that SMAA Injector causes Skyrim to not load when launched from within MO using SKSE launcher. It's starts to load, I see the icon pop up in the task bar for 1-2 seconds, and then it disappears and nothing. The game never launches. Actually, I just tested it out without using MO and the game still won't launch using the game's EXE. I deleted the d3d9.dll from the Skyrim directory and it launched right up. I haven't used SMAA in a long time so I wonder if Bethesda changed something in the last and final update to cause the generic SMAA d3d9.dll file to no longer work? I'll try to see if I can find any updated version from the one I have (1.2). EDIT: Nope, can't find a newer version... Maybe it's just something weird on my end.
  18. Aiyen is right about the character creation menu. Running around in-game, Superior doesn't look near as bright/shiny as from in the character creation menu (which I just loaded up Race Menu in the shots I took). The optional light is turned on for the nords, but I believe I turned it off (if I remembered to do so for all shots) for the last set because it was like a spotlight and looked really bad on the little kitty. Lol! Also, if Superior is accepted then I think from experience BVH will also be accepted as must for these textures. Someone with some skill just needs to create some meshes that work better (though BVH are an improvement, there's still room for even more improvement).
  19. As I mention in another thread, I've skipped these mods and Neo's Dual Shealth Redux because of not know how to properly install them using MO. I'll dive into SR again eventually and try to reinstall them.
  20. Fair enough. I've been running around checking out the NPCs too and I must say that they don't look bad. I would highly suggest you active Beards and Brows when doing this. The finer texture of Beards and Brow pairs nicely with Superior LF Hair.
  21. I understand what you are saying, but even so I think this mod is a move in the right direction. The hair in the compare with the male nord towards the front is fixed by Better Vanilla Hairs. You should check out that mod (it's up for testing) while doing your compares.
  22. It will not be correct for all mods because SR includes some mods that are not included in STEP. EssArrBee's post about seems like something that might need to be looked at, however. Hopefully Neo will pop in and comment on this because I honestly can't tell you what Baseline should be (I can reverse your edit for now.) because I don't use this mod currently. Nor do I use Neo's Dual Sheath Redux. This is simply to due my switching to MO and not diving into SR to figure out how to properly install them using MO. EDIT: I rolled back your edit for the time being until more information comes to light.
  23. Worth a compare I think and I would agree on the maps simply because the author does more than just change the paper texure by adding elements to the maps. EDIT: OP Updated with Mod Testing requirements.
