Well, if all links should be open in a new tab we need to discuss this. I've never done external links on any of the wiki work I've done unless it led to an external website. I'm with s4n that users should know how and when to open in a new tab themselves. A simple "wheel-click" on all mice with a wheel will open a new tab by default and in one tiny click of a button. Opening a new tab via the right-click menu works as well. S4n is not going to change the default behavior so the only issue I have with this is maintenance. It takes a lot longer to for us to create these types of links for users rather than the user following best practices, and when time is short for all of us. I'm all for making things easier for the user, but I'm not about hand-holding and doing this seems to go out of our way for something users can easily do themselves when needed.

SKYRIMLE Jaggarsfeld Extended (by TechAngel85)
TechAngel85 replied to TechAngel85's topic in Skyrim LE Mod Author Topics
Just wanted to pop in to say that I know it's been a while since I've worked on this project, but it's not dead. The type of editing this mod takes is the type where you sit down for several hours at a time and work. I simply have not had the time to do this with the holidays and my work schedule. I still need to sit down and plan out some of the changes in order to add the feature I want to add. I would really like the authors to hand over the mod to me entirely so I can really have the freedom to do as I wish, but it's been months and they still haven't even read my emails. They seem to have gone completely MIA since my first contact with them. When will I be able to pick this project back up? That's a good question. Most likely it will be after the holidays in January or February sometime. Currently the mod is "fixed" besides the scripts being replaced, so you can enjoy it as is for now. Happy Holidays to everyone and I'll look forward to having the time to mod this mod again! -
STEP Compilation Installers choice

ELEP is a good choice if you just want some effects like better shadows without the huge performance impact. ELEP keeps the vanilla colors. Vividian Performance version is very good as well. -

This is the team that Starac switched to in order to continue his work so a lot of the textures are SRO and beyond. I've been aware of this project for quite some time. They've been working on it for a very long time now. -
If you want to do a step by step video series, go for it! We've never do one before because, as you mentioned, it will become outdated fairly quickly, but most of the series will remain relevant for a good while. This is something which, I would imagine, will take a few hundred hours to do. That's a very large undertaking. You sure you want to do that? Can you link your youtube channel so we can see some of your content?

unclear STEP instructions: Extended & Core
TechAngel85 replied to whismerhill's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Yes, green bar = Core mod... so naturally, no green bar would = Extended mod It will make more sense when v2.3 arrives. -
This is something very similar that we were doing with GamerPoets. I'd link the forum, but it's restricted so you wouldn't be able to see it anyway. He would do a video and we would proof it before he uploaded it. Before continuing, view what he's already done and decide if this is still something which you want to do: https://youtu.be/n6UPIWX-hIo?list=PLlN8weLk86XjVOwlGpeKFnHLlBLlwo73A

unclear STEP instructions: Extended & Core
TechAngel85 replied to whismerhill's question in General Skyrim LE Support
NomenclatureThe following nomenclature is used throughout this guide and should be understood before proceeding. Core mods: Mods that are Core to the STEP Guide collectively known as STEP:Core.Extended mods: Mods that are not Core mods in the STEP Guide collectively known as STEP:Extended.Baseline STEP: A complete STEP setup using the recommended mod quality installation options. This is typically kept at 1024 resolution for most texture options.Performance STEP: A complete STEP setup using the low quality installation options where available.Extreme STEP: A complete STEP setup using the high quality installation options where available. -
I have not had the time to test SP's meshes with the textures, but I know that it'll require some re-work of the work I've already done.

What mod manager are you using and what version?

Nightengale hood incorrect neck mesh
TechAngel85 replied to pancakemaster808's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I think there might be a mask on the page to use, don't use it. It's likely that mask that is causing your issues. -
Yeah, I've been waiting on those code additions/corrections for a while. Mator and I have had him doing some work with the FOMOD due to some issues around merged plugins. I'm not sure if this feature is the FOMOD plugin or something that is internal in MO. Worth asking. :)
-
"Should not be the norm". That's what my feelings were on this. When I seen the external format being used for internal links, it didn't seem like the proper way so I converted all I found to the [[mod page]] format. If I'm out voted on this for the mod pages, I'll revert them back.
-
No I don't remember, sorry. Far too much to keep up with. Opening a new tab is default behavior for the browsers I've used so I didn't notice any issue. If we're wanting the internal links to behave as external links, it would be better to have S4N change the behavior in the wiki rather then skirting the system. I'll put in a feature request to him to see if this is possible before reverting those.

I think there are so many templates they just get lost and forgotten about. I recently just discovered the {{added}} and {{removed}} templates that were meant for the changelogs during this last release. Consequently, I added an {{updated}} template to match. I don't know who but one of our staff doesn't know much about some of the wiki code. During my recent combing of the mod pages I discover multiple instances of links being added for mods in the long form like so [...wiki.step.link/Finer_Dust Finer Dust]. When all they had to do was this, [[Finer Dust]], to link directly to that mod page. I cleaned all those instances up that I found.
-
This is, imo, erroneous behavior when FOMODs are involved. This could be the default behavior for mods without FOMODs, but if a FOMOD is used MO should be picking up the name from the FOMOD installer since this is an included field in the code. Tannin is too busy with MO2 or I'd put in a request for this.

DROPPED Immersive Citizens - AI Overhaul (by Shurah)
TechAngel85 replied to EssArrBee's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Yes, we did merge the CRF patch. EssArrBee does all that manually. We don't use the merge script. -
Could you post your INIs? Also make sure you still have all the ENB files in the root directory that are required.

I akin the wiki templates to the old HTML includes with SSI. Edit one file (aka page), and it changes it throughout the entire site. Of course if anyone wasn't designing web sites back in the days when SSI was very popular (think pre-WordPress), this would be just as foreign as the wiki templates.

Nightengale hood incorrect neck mesh
TechAngel85 replied to pancakemaster808's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I don't remember the masks looking like that. Is that from a mod? -
Feeble indeed. You're going to have a hard time playing with just that as your graphics processor. Always select the lowest or "performance" options any mods.

ACCEPTED Audio Overhaul for Skyrim (by David Jegutidse)
TechAngel85 replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Install it twice. First time, install it using the STEP option. The second time, do a custom install and only select the additional plugins you need for those additional mods. When asked, "Merge" the files. If you select "Replace", you'll have to do both installs again so be sure to select "Merge".
