  1. Skyrim particle patch for ENB. Could be an important addition to STEP since ENB is the core part of the guide now. Like I predicted, Boris has brought back some previous ENB versions, namely v132 and v139. v121212 is the same ENB as v126, but with no GUI. Not sure what the difference between v139 and v132 is, but there are a few nice updated configs supporting the later ENBs. K ENB (v132) SES FX ENB (v141 preview) Beautiful Skyrim by UnrealWarfare (v139) Tiamat Fantasy ENB (v141) On another note, a lot of ENB modders (if you can call them that) suggest using Anisotropic Filtering of 8x that comes with ENB instead of the one set in drivers or in-game. Has anyone got experience with the later ENB configs and can comment on the quality of that AF? I think it could save a few fps in the long run with little to no quality decrease.
  2. They're here for the gangbang.
  3. Yes, limiting the fps should solve the issue with Vsync off. There are ways to decrease the mouse lag that comes from enabling Vsync too, if you're interested in that.
  4. Actually, it's fairly easy to explain why Bards would sing in the taverns. Bar owners would either pay a small daily fee to the bards for their service, or offer them a room/meal in exchange. Good music attracts the patrons and bards have several ways of making a little extra money, be it through requests from travelling adventurers or locals, or offering their services to noblemen/Jarls. Not to mention that most bards might have more services to offer coming from the knowledge and skills they learn in their travels.
  5. Yeah 30fps on average was my goal until my headless character happened, that could happen again when I start putting all the mods back into Vanilla. I'll try find out what what was or which mod is faulty. I don't think I'll run my game past 40fps using a limiter anyway so my card doesn't start revving up the fan too much which does get loud :P.Skyrim plays OK at 25 fps and much smoother at 45+. The best way to measure performance would be to do a few 5 min runs and measuring the time spent below 30 or 25 fps.
  6. Auto-aim and mouse acceleration are game breaking features for M+K users.
  7. It mainly depends on the resolution you're going to play at.
  8. Same here, the Hazardous preset looks spot on, so do Warm interiors. I don't know why peeps over here complained about them not being dark enough, or CoT not doing anything to target the vanilla game's lighting issues. I think CoT along with a compatible ENB config is a superb combination.
  9. There are a few things you could try to improve the look of the shadows, like lowering the Shadow Distance to 4000 or so, using a lower iBlurDefferedShadowMask value to sharpen them, increasing the internal resolution of shadows rendered to 4096 or even 8192, using transparency anti-aliasing, turning on shadows draw on trees and land, etc. Detailed Shadows in ENB help a lot too, SSAO will make the overall render much more pleasing to the eyes. Heck, just follow this guide and see if it helps, worse comes to worse, you can always revert to the original INI files. https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/7638
  10. Climates of Tamriel has Darker Dungeons plugins, as well as a separate one for nights.
  11. I love little mods like this.
  12. Why not just hide the page from the public for the time being? It's not like it's complete anyway, so anyone outside the STEP team shouldn't use it just yet.
  13. He wouldn't use both CoT and RLwC because they're largely incompatible with each other.
  14. v121212 is still available, and I bet he'll bring back at least one of the earlier releases, like v126. The only available drivers? He's got a reason for bashing the 310 drivers, which frankly aren't perfect at all. I'm just happy he's still working on Skyrim. With the recent improvements, performance with SSAO should be better than ever. Most ENB configs weren't developed for past 119 releases anyway. In fact he is ignoring the entire 300 series drivers (go read his main page) and I cannot run anything below that so... for me the point is moot. After an entire series has the problem I'd think its a feature not a bug. (Similar previously when ATI users were screwed for awhile.) I've just realised you've got a monster rig with SLI GTX 670s in there. Fair point in that case. Anyway, Boris being a dick didn't happen over night.

  16. This might just be the first Skyrim DLC worth getting.

    Editor issues

I turned off a little while ago because it was not working for me.Myself and Neo, have both reported it not working for us. @Z, How ironic...LOL @S4N It did the posting with the missing text again... I didn't hit backspace or tab. I didn't copy anything. Just typed and hit post and BAM....no typed text. what browser?Firefox 18... I've been having some issues with this version though.Same here. Losing your post after submitting is quite interesting. I've never experienced that. Not sure how I could attempt to duplicate it to try and find the culprit. Did you use "New Reply" or "Quick Reply" when this happened? Happened to me several times when quoting other posts. Sometimes more than once in a row. I'm using Aurora 20.0a2.
  18. It doesn't corrupt the saves AFAIK.
  19. It doesn't corrupt the saves AFAIK.
  20. I've been overclocking various systems for over 10 years now and never had an issue related to it.
  21. Nothing a small voltage bump won't fix. Or underclock, for that matter.
  22. Thanks, but lighting mods have no barring here. There are separate guides on the wiki for ENB and lighting mods. The Lighting Guide addresses (or will eventually) combining the two. As for your recommendations: The Wilds is too over saturated and hazy as are Seasons of Skyrim, as JJay pointed out, and Project Matso. I'll have to check out Phinix Natural's warm option and check with my testing results for Quietcool. For the recommendations, I'm really looking for something that follows STEP in staying close to vanilla but "naturally" enhancing it. Nothing overly saturated, hazy, bleak, b&w, film-like, etc. SkyRealism works best when it comes to that, but some people might prefer a larger difference, which is why I recommend checking out a few other ENBs. And yes, lighting mods matter a lot when it comes to choosing the right ENB. One config will never look the same with CoT, RCRN and RLWC. Until STEP chooses their leading lighting mod, I can't firmly recommend any ENB other than SkyRealism, which just blends in well in the game and adds the extra effects, but the performance hit can be significant and ENB should not be recommended to players running the lite version of STEP.
  23. OK, I like it a lot. You have my vote.
