  1. What issues does Afterburner cause in Skyrim? Just wondering. I use it to overclock the GPU and I use the OSD to measure fps, Vmem, OC setttings, temp and fan speed. None as far as I know, but it may be incompatible with ENB when it's running the OSD.
  2. What resolution and anti-aliasing are you using?
  3. That's it. I'm starting a new playthrough as soon as I'm done with my exams. :)
  4. What, where? There's no personal attacks from my side in any part of my post, nor do I see it in anyone else's, but it's pretty obvious that you were referring to my post anyway. I disapprove of such mods, because I think they're turning Skyrim (and Nexus as the result) into something that it should never be, in my opinion. But I wouldn't think of attacking the author for that reason alone, and I highly doubt my post could be interpreted as such. Likewise, I do think that the nude body mods have their place in modding (I think I was using UNP last time, but haven't played the game in a while to remember and it wouldn't be a mod that I'd recommend either), but they simply don't meet the requirements to be included in STEP, hence why I said they are an unnecessary addition (no STEP mods require it, and they are both a matter of taste). When it comes to the face mods, I prefer the worn, dirty look of Skyrim citizens since it reflects how hardened the Nords are through the time of war and their lifestyles. You have to remember that for every nobleman/woman who's got time to take care of their body, there would be a dozen of commoners who wouldn't view it as practical to moisturise their face with goat's milk and polish their nails. Skyrim is a place of a Civil War, with monsters commonly roaming around. I doubt Roman methods of beautification of city folks would apply in this environment, but each to their own. If it was exclusive to high class court ladies, I would have no issue with that, but judging from the screenshots, the nails look like they were placed here straight from a Chinese cartoon. Besides, how ridiculous STEP would become if we started including mods like this?
  5. D&D, a kids game? It's been played by the greatest minds of our time. :P The forth edition sucks unless you modify it to your serious campaigns, 3.5 was overcomplicated when it came to different rules, but Pathfinder seems to have the right idea. Besides, most other major RPG systems are based off the old AD&D or D&D 3.0.
  6. It looks like you replaced their eyes with gemstones. I'm sure somebody will like it, though. I've just realised, your elven chicks have over-plucked eyebrows and wear excessive amounts of mascara. LOL, just LOL.
  7. None at all. I've clocked in countless hours, but until modding kind of stalls, I doubt I will be able to actually "finish" the game.
  8. Apachii hair is awful, doesn't seem lore-friendly at all. In fact, it looks like it came straight out from the land of the Sims. I don't understand how you think coloured nails should be a lore-friendly thing in Skyrim either. I can't imagine any medieval Scandinavians painting their nails to look pretty, not to mention that it looks ridiculous in game. UNP and CBBE are a mater of taste and completely unnecessary to most people, not to mention that they are adult mods, so wouldn't be included in STEP anyway.
  9. Why, just why...
  10. I don't like the Serious HD textures at all. For me it's clear that almost none of the textures are a great improvement over vanilla ones, and ones that appeal to me more (like Riften HQ in some screenshots) vary in style so might not be suitable for STEP. Even SRO didn't look so great in one or two of those comparisons. EDIT: just found that there are two more posts with textures comparisons. Serious HD isn't too bad in them, so I guess it's a mix of all.
  11. Texture Pack Combiner and DDSopt optimised textures, at a guess.
  12. I think it's worth noting that HR-DLC fixes by Eiwyn are not included. https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/14719
  13. Uploading now. Personally, I like his textures, even if they deviate from the vanilla style. Perhaps it's because he focuses on the overall picture, not specific textures, that makes them look decent in game.
  14. They both have an ESP, don't they?
  15. Wow, that's some badass fire effect.
  16. You mean like Ars Metallica that is part of the core STEP? If you want a more complex overhaul, try one of the big overhaul mods.
  17. Worth mentioning that all other Unofficial Patches have been updated too.
  18. Could someone create these mod threads please? Relighting Skyrim is too bright for my tastes but the other too are pretty good.Brightness is relative to the ENB config and other lighting mods you're using.
  19. This post by Arthmoor looks pretty unfavourable of Mod Organiser. Any idea if his criticism is warranted?
  20. Gopher has just released version 2 of the mod. It could be a great addition for those that don't use ENB. [video=youtube]
  21. Summer Edition v16 is out.
  22. SSAO is great under the right circumstances. It really makes a difference to some sceneries. Try it on with a lot of objects under midday daylight.
  23. Look, I really don't want to argue, but WHQL aren't any different drivers to the beta ones, and this specific driver was still in the testing at the time of release. And yes, you can get them with the driver lookup form, often the recommended driver by Nvidia is a beta one that hasn't been certified by Microsoft. They simply don't send every driver for testing as it wouldn't be productive in the long term.
  24. There are a few reasons for releasing beta drivers: a) Testing for WHQL certifications takes a while. b) It's not worth releasing a whole new driver for everyone with hotfixes for one game. c) New features/bug fixes are being tested this way on wider audience. Neither Nvidia nor AMD intentionally release buggy drivers. Often beta drivers fix issues that occurred in the new WHQL release. This driver is no different to the last beta, hence no number change. Over the period of a month 4 betas were released. A change here, a tweak there, a fix applied... I would much rather wait a month to a month and a half to have the final, stable release rather than updating the beta 4-6 times to a month. That's not the best way for everyone, though. Say you wanted to play Far Cry 3 at acceptable framerates on release, you needed to use the beta drivers. Same with SLI/Crossfire compatibility, or new methods of supported AA. I hardly ever have any driver related issues on my system and I update to every single new releases (unless something is notoriously buggy). BTW, I can confirm that these are the same drivers that were released 14 days ago as WHQL and then later renamed to WHQL-candidates. So beta drivers as such. :P That's true but I'm not looking at other games when referring to the STEP guide recommending beta drivers. Just Skyrim as STEP is just for Skyrim. Thus, this is just my opinion, but I don't think STEP should be recommending driver updates that aren't official releases. Prime example is above when Haelfix stated his issues with the beta; regardless if the issue was driver or ENB related. STEP, IMO, should only be recommending polished, finished products. Just all my personal opinion. I have no influence in this area. Haha! But they are official releases. Beta drivers appear on the same Nvidia's website for download This bloody driver was under beta section, now it's "official", as you would call it, but nothing has changed. They've just added a WHQL certificate. Do you even know why they have to wait for those certificates? By reading "official releases" and "poilished, finished products", I don't think you do... It's in the best interest of STEP's team to recommend drivers that work best for SKYRIM, not other games.
