I think you're forgetting Fermi. It's swings and roundabouts. Whilst Titan is cooking to be a very powerful card, it won't be a mainstream product and its launch price will put almost everyone off. The big money is in the mainstream market and that's where the real competition starts. I don't know if you're aware of the latest developments, but both Nvidia and AMD are delaying their products for this oversaturated market. Perhaps the main reason is the rumoured launch of new consoles later this year. Or maybe they just realised it isn't as profitable to offer a whole new bunch of graphics cards in a less than a year long cycle. EDIT: actually, I've thought about it a little and I agree with you for the most part. I'm reluctant to go back to AMD/ATI, even though my previous 3 cards were from the Red team, because of the inconsistent drivers support. But they have made huge improvements in the past few months and everyone I know with an AMD card seems happy, so I might give it another try in the next few months. Almost got my hands on a slightly used 7970 3GB for £215, but I made the wrong decision at the time, thinking that the new graphics cards are just around the corner.

AMD has no reason to discount their products now, but the bundled games are a nice incentive. There are still reasons to go with Nvidia cards (CUDA for some uses), but in general benches equivalent AMD's cards come out on top and cost less money. See Radeon 7970 with the 1GHz BIOS update and Catalyst 12.11 or later, more VRAM on standard cards and lower price point. Not to mention you get a bunch of new games when buying an AMD card. https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/Catalyst_12.11_Performance/23.html https://www.anandtech.com/show/6393/amds-holiday-plans-cat1211-new-bundle https://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/amd_catalyst_12_11_driver_performance.html https://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/57413-amd-12-11-never-settle-driver-performance.html https://hexus.net/tech/reviews/graphics/46905-amd-catalyst-1211-benchmarked-surprising-performance-gains/ https://www.legitreviews.com/article/2059/1/

I still don't understand your point, AMD's cards are faster on average, overclock better and their architecture is more efficient, despite significantly lower budget for marketing and product development. Just because they're not as popular, doesn't mean they're not superior in many ways.

I'd really prefer a shoutbox too, most of the time it's too hard to catch anyone using the chat.

You know what, I'm gonna download HR-DLC from TPB now just to check the differences again with WinMerge.
-
We don't know just yet, but it usually takes a while for STEP to adjust to the latest released DLC. That's because some mods will need to be updated and Bethesda's DLC is hardly ever stable on release.

It's good that you mention it, actually. A monitor that is properly calibrated to 6500K, 2.2 Gamma and 120 cd/m2, will usually appear dim and even desaturated to an untrained eye. That feeling goes away rather fast, it only takes a few hours, maybe a couple of days, to get used to the new settings and most people are reluctant to go back to using an uncalibrated monitor. The difference becomes obvious once you start comparing photos on your screen.
-
Calibrate with hardware controls first, once you can't make any more viable adjustments there, you can then tweak gamma in Color Management or Nvidia Control Panel.
-
You should disable all driver enhancements when adjusting your gamma, contrast or brightness. It does not give me this option. I can't find where to disable it... slider to the left = b&w"Other applications control color settings"

WOW, that is quite an improvement .... Since I don't lose any space, it would seem like there is no good reason for not using RAID 0 config! (data loss is not an issue for me, as I have plenty of backup space ... and I do actually use it :P ) Lack of hardware TRIM support on your mobo and SATA II limitation might put you off... But I would try it out either way.

I want to buy that so badly...I could not resist grabbing two for myself ... I should have them in a couple of hours if UPS doesn't suck (they often do suck though). Are you gonna RAID them? I hope you're gonna RAID them. Convince me that I should create SSD RAID 0 on my system (see link to specs in sig) ... I thought data transfer rates were capped by SATA (II I think for my mobo)? They're capped, but raid0 = 2 channels = double the bandwidth (on paper). That does make sense... forgot about the independent data connections. Is there evidence of the actual i/o boost from RAID 0 on SSD? Is it double or something less? Also, the SSD speeds are so much faster as it is, would I even notice a diff between SSD versus SSD RAID 0?https://www.storagereview.com/crucial_m4_ssd_raid_review

Well, you're gonna have bad time if you're installing full STEP by hand, since it's nigh impossible to say which textures/meshes you have overwritten. Updating that setup must be a real PITA. As for the tutorials, you'll find plenty on Youtube. You could always use the official Wrye Bash Guide in the STEP Wiki.

Why are you running a watercooled i5-2500K at 4.3 GHz? :(Cos I have it mainly for silence ;)And low temp lol. Also the case is completly modded. Did that last year, still not completly finished, needs a new window and still need to repaint it. Ow and the 4,3 is without extra voltage so just the turbo that is set higher. Maybe I will go and look what I can do more with it, but like this its pretty stable for 1,5 years now. I'd be surprised if you couldn't do 4.8 GHz on all cores with it.

AMD CrossfireX Fix info outdated
Besidilo replied to VirusShell's question in Other Utilities Support
I do know that 13.2 Beta 3 did have a performance increase directly related to Skyrim. While it's true that AMD did indeed change their release cycles, I seem to recall that CAP's are still somewhat important. I believe I remember seeing that it was recommended to have the previous CAP (12.11 CAP 2) installed for the 13.X drivers Thanks, I'll investigate this further and see what comes up. If the beta drivers bring some improvements to Skyrim, then by all means, they should be recommended in the STEP guide. -

Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback
Besidilo replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
What update? There was no patch being released today, only HR-DLC has been updated. -

You didn't tell us which ENB you're currently using.

AMD CrossfireX Fix info outdated
Besidilo replied to VirusShell's question in Other Utilities Support
I'd also like to point out a few things: 1) AMD have changed their normal release cycle, with many betas being released each month. These often include important fixes and performance improvements, whilst not as important for Skyrim, they might provide proper support for newer games. 2) AMD seems to have ditched the Catalyst Application Profiles. That means that for proper CrossfireX support you will need to shift a lot of drivers, see above. 3) AMD have released an uninstallation tool for their drivers. I highly recommend that less experienced users use it to uninstall old drivers before upgrading: https://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/catalyst-uninstall-utility.aspx -
There's absolutely no need for this mod, unless you're getting the bug where you can't see under water at all.
