There seem to be some mods not from the guide in your load order, or am i wrong? Savage Skyrim for example, some tatoo mod also. Have you checked them with xEdit for conflicts with the rest of the mods. Alternate start works just fine if the guide is installed as is. Ther must a conflict with an added mod or maby some of the guide mod not installed as in the guide.

Skyrim Vanilla Overhaul Textures PROJECT (by lupus_hegemonia)
Mercury71 replied to joaron7's topic in Skyrim SE Mods
When looking at the pictures at the mod page i must say i dont think i want that. The ground looks sort of dead in the gigant camp pictures. It just feels dead and empty i think. Is there any better pictures or videos somewhere? -
Question about resources file
Mercury71 replied to SenseiJT92's question in DynDOLOD & xLODGen Support
Nope -
I want to make clear i have nothing in general against tools like Wabbajack. I do use a lot of different tools for modding my games. But i do belive that it is not good if the STEP devs had to service a Wabbajack version of the STEP Guide. Why? First Tech has stated they do not have the resources. Having an official version at Wabbajack means it must be updated and maintained like the guide here on STEP. "Spreading out" , so to say, a guide in different places is never a good thing. I belive there where a discussion in this line about a STEP Discord if i am not misstaken when it commes to STEP support? It is very easy to be "everywhere" but very hard to maintain it and keep the quality up i think.

What i write is ofc my opinion. How could it be anything else? I belive you are very wrong that most STEP users play without adding or extracting other non guide mods to there game. People using the guide (and other guides) ask all the time if this or that mod is compatible. You have the OPINION that it is a god given human right to have an automated way to install mod lists into their game? That is what you impose. Many mod authors are getting more and morre tired of people on the Nexus demanding support.

Being a casual user of the STEP Guide and tools like BetINI i must say i understand the problem with having the guide automated on Wabbajack. When things are automated like Wabbajack and BethINI (as stated above by DoubleYou) or Mators tools or Wrye Bash pople tend to not make the effort to learn how to identify and solve problems by them selfs. If Wabbajck realy takes off and becomes the common way of installing large mod list pople will stop learning how to use tools like xEdit for example. People will overflow Nexus, STEP Forum, AFK Forums, Reddit and what not with questions more thenm ever. Hell! People dont even understan how mod managers work. Installing a large amount off mods in any game is tricky and anyone that has set there mind to add a few hundred mods to a game really need to know what they are doing. Most people also adds mods outside off the STEP Guide for there own taste (at least i do and i belive all of you do so to) and then go to forums saying the guide is broken (i have seen that for current Wabbajack lists, STEP Guide, Lexys guide and others). Following a guide/mod list or using tools like Wabbajack, BethINI, Mator, Wrye, Loot does NOT let you get away with not using xEdit on your loadorder. Sure, tools like Wabbajack can save some time for download and installation for the users, but i really see it as a waste of time for guide authors like the STEP Team or lets say Dread or Lexy to maintain and service such functionallity. When installing a lot of mods really it should be done with knowlege, not automated. Bethesda is selling official mods for those who dont like learning.

ACCEPTED Majestic Mountains (by T4gtr34um3r)

Guess we will have to find another mountain overhaul unless the situation changes and T4 puts the mod back up again.- 88 replies

I follow the STEP Guide for Skyrim SE. https://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:0.3.0b#STEP_5 xLODGen is used for Terrain-lod generation only in first step and Occlusion in the last step. The order is 1. Generate Terrain-lod with xLODGen 2. Run TexGen 3. Run DynDOLOD 4. Generate Occlusion with xLODGen

SKYRIMSE Mod Organizer 2 wont install SKSE correctly
Mercury71 replied to DrukRath's question in General Skyrim SE Support
I cant stand AI caves videos so i do not know how it tells you how to install. A good practise is to Follow the STEP Guide installing SKSE. https://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:Guide -
Strange problem. It should be working installing it the old way directly in game folder if you do not want to install it acording to the guide via MO2.

I would suggest to check that you have set up FNIS acording to latest STEP Guide. https://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:Guide

That is a lot of mods on top of STEP! Before you started playing did you do check for conflicts with xEdit? When adding mods to STEP it is good to install and test only one at time. Then when you know they do not conflict with STEP you can try them out togheter. Uninstalling mods in a save is generaly a bad idea. Do not tinker with your game once start playing. Why is FNIS not set up to write directly to FNIS.output instead of overwrite?

There is not yet many "add-on-builds" for STEP SE i think. One that is active is Dreads I have my eyes on testing Hunterborn in the future with STEP. If you do test these mods out pleas let us know how they work and what if needs to be patched.

RUSTIC CLUTTER COLLECTION - Special Edition (by Gamwich)
Mercury71 replied to sirtechfan's topic in Skyrim SE Mods
When placed in alphabetical order it overwrites some textures from SMIM (tankard), SRO (metalcage), Ruins Clutter Improved (dwemer pottery, pouch, flagon and some others) and HQ Food and Ingredients (mead). Then moneybag gets overwritten by Skyrim Redesigned. -
DROPPED Lanterns Of Skyrim II (by MannyGT/wizkid34)
Mercury71 replied to TechAngel85's topic in Skyrim SE Mods
I am with you here Tech. Feels like it is made for Noble. I am actually thinkin of not using "Lanterns of Skyrim II" att all (and fill upp my inventory with torches). (A bit OT but with all of Arthmoores villages installed i had to disable the addons fror Granite Hill and Rorikstaed because the lightposts felt way missplaced/designed, looked horrible) -
Current STEP for me to.

SSEUT or Cathedral for me. ElSopas is to red.

Prefer the Simple Children mod (we dont need to compare to vanilla potatoes). In some cases i think Simple Children is abit to smooth and light skinned. Probbelm with all face overhauls is that all characters seem to be sibblings.. but so does the vanilla. Rustics heads are a bit to big in some cases.
