I have to come out of creepy lurker mode to say that this mod is far and beyond the most essential mod I have yet to come acrossed.

Been a lurker myself but have to say after completing setting up with the texture pack combiner to try and get a head start with the new step. Even with no other mods it is looking great.

SMIM v1.26 is out, but apparently it suffers from a bug. I will await the fix before implementing TPC support for it.

 

SRO also had a v1.4 patch released today. It looks rather huge, but I will take a look at it later today.

Lush Trees 1.4 is also out, but no changes to the files structure from 1.3.

Vurt's Flora Overhaul:

 

Vurt's patch is no longer supported from version 1.4. Vurt's only contains THREE trees at default parameters. This will not impact much on the mod or the visual quality. I'm also no longer supporting this because I don't regulate around here as often and can't keep updating it. You can choose to use these trees or use Vurt's for more texture variation. Using Vurt's on top of Lush Trees will mean slightly better performance if needed. If you want to use Lush Trees over Vurt's and aren't bothered about the lack of a little variation, then you can do that as well. It's up to you!

I haven't tried it yet myself (waiting for the new TPC to integrate all these) but SMIMs problem seems to be only related to the "update" version. People have reported success with the "full" download of 1.26

Is texture pack combineer only going to have optional files that conflict with other retextures?

If somethin is a retexture that does not conflict will it be kept seperate?

No, not only, but conflicting mods have a higher priority.
