I don't know how to explain it correctly. I'm not very good at English.

BethINI is almost working properly as intended. It add iMaxAnisotropy line if I use mouse to click and set it(like Situation 1). Otherwise, It won't add this line(like situation 2)

So I need to click it and set to 'None' again even BethINI already set it to 'None'.

If you want to test..

Run BethINI for first time(or new profile), don't touch AF setting(for me it set to 'None' already), save and exit then check SkyrimPrefs.ini(It doesn't add iMaxAnisotropy line)

It is not bad because it only happen when I'm using BethINI first time. Once I set it, everything is fine.

Anyway, Here is BethINI Cache folder from my current profile in MOmega.nz/#!E4dSVIqC

I just finally got Enderal, so I will update to include full support soon. Not sure how I want to handle some of their controversial tweaks. Thankfully, most of their added lines have no effect.

Thank you so much for this. The Enderal default ini and technical setup are a catastrophe.

Sorry, this is correct download link for my BethINI Cache folder.

Could you show me what the following two files in your Skyrim folder contain:

Skyrim_default.ini

Skyrim\SkyrimPrefs.ini

I use these two original game files to generate the INI files, and if they do not exist or have been modified, it can fail. This can also happen if the path to your Skyrim game folder is set incorrectly under Setup.

From the logs, however, it does appear that Anisotropic filtering is being set correctly, just other settings are not being handled correctly due to missing parameters from there being no default settings applied.

Another possibility is you may be clicking things too fast. You may get this kind of problem simply from not waiting for the process to complete fully after each click.

Skyrim_default.ini https://pastebin.com/YpKabn9a

Skyrim\SkyrimPrefs.ini https://pastebin.com/LHHaHBQa

After I see your post, I go to try BethINI(via Mod Organizer and enable "close MO when run" feature) with new profile again and result is very weird. It almost contain nothing.

Weird Skyrim.ini https://pastebin.com/tyZqk3NH

Weird SkyrimPrefs.ini https://pastebin.com/Nu64FsJ3

I think something is wrong with my computer setup not BethINI. It don't happen like this before. Any idea?

EDIT: after I try again and again, this error message show up.(attach file)

Solved.

1). I delete current BethINI v1.1 folder and re-download BethINI v1.1.(I think maybe I merge v1.0 and v1.1 together when I switch from v1.0 to v1.1)

2). I change from run BethINI via MO(enable "Close MO when started" checkbox) to run BethINI directly(close MO before).

I have test 2-3 times. Look like running BethINI via MO cause weird ini file.

Everything is fine now. It's user error.

I've been using spINI and now BethINI for some time now for Skyrim.  The program is much needed and is working great!

I did notice that the setting fDefaultFOV is no longer being written.  Is this setting no longer needed?  According to STEP it says, "

  • fDefaultFOV sets the default field of view in menus, such as the lockpicking interface and inventory."

One feature request - I always mark my Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini files as read-only so they don't get fubared if I accidentally run skse_loader.exe before launching Steam (which loads the launcher and the INIs get edited to certain defaults).  It would be nice if you either re-marked them as read-only if they were read-only to begin with or provide a checkbox to mark them as read-only on BethINI save and exit.

Thanks!

@azzendix

That would do it. It should never be run via Mod Organizer.

@crushboss

You can change that manually if you like, but it isn't necessary. Look back in this thread for the reason for the change.

I will be adding that read-only feature, hopefully next update.

This tool works great, but can you add the vanilla preset values in for some of the settings like Shadow Resolution and Shadow Distance (Fallout 4)? I want to know if I select 2048, whether that corresponds to High, Ultra, Medium, etc, without having to look it up somewhere else. Or for something like Field of View, list the default value in the hover-text.

Uploaded v1.2

-Added built-in backup restoration to the Setup tab. Users who wish to revert changes or who decide they were better off before using my tool can go back in time to their old crappy INI files at the click of a button!

-Added the ability to set the INI files to read-only upon saving, toggleable in the Setup tab. If your main INI file (e.g., Skyrim.ini) is set to read-only upon launch, this option shall automatically be ticked.

-Added dialogue subtitles and general subtitles to the Interface tab.

-Bugfix: It was possible to get an error message when hovering over the links in the Setup tab. This should be fixed now.

-Removed the "Miscellaneous" headline under Interface, as it is unnecessary and wasting space.
