frihyland Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Quote Not sure on that Starac, but I found another one I haven't found covered by SRO or any other in the TPC/STEP... This image taken in Embershard Iron Mine right outside Riverwood in the large cavern at the end. It's a minecraft easter egg :)

skwareballz Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Version 1.5 is up and it's bigger than 1.4 update, almost 400MB. Starac must be off of work or school cuz that's Dawnguard, 1.4, 1.5 in about 2 weeks time. Are they still selling Four Loco?
Starac Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 I have forget to fix one texture and to add ruins furniture file in 1.4 version. That's why 1.5 is out so quickly. Btw, most of the update textures have been created long ago. And i'm a little bit to old for school :)
torminater Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Hey Starac, I'ld like to ask you a question:majin662 looked at the skyrim mountains that produced incredibly bad z-fighting with the ck (further info in this thread: https://forum.step-project.com/showthread.php?tid=154&page=24; the comments by majin662: https://forum.step-project.com/showthread.php?tid=154&pid=9476#pid9476 https://forum.step-project.com/showthread.php?tid=154&pid=9484#pid9484)I know you did some nice mountain textures, is there any chance you could rearrange the conflicting mountain textures in a simple way that doesn't break anything completely?

What should i rearrange? What do you suggest? Textures can be designed differently, but that's it. I doubt this can fix the problem?
torminater Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 The problem is, that the mountains are structured by many layers of textures of snow and rocks (clouds might be problematic, too). The LOD of the mountain that gets rendered at a certain distance has not a z-buffer-value which is precise enough that z-fighting doesn't happen, since all of those layers stick out of another and so on. It will not be texture editing. it'll be more like moving the textures and thus giving them specific z-buffer values so they don't flicker in the distance. I'll have to tell you that I don't really know anything about how to fix this, I just asked you to find out whether you know more about it.

Besides some tweaks can reduce this. So i don't see what's the big problem here. This is not something that happens 5 meters in front of me.
Starac Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 I know that there are alternatives. But question is will this work in case of mountains? If it works, why is not implemented already?
Starac Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Btw, what is wrong with Bethesda forums? I can't access them?
Kelmych Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 I was reading them when you posted this and I haven't seen any problems.

Ethatron has already been asked to have a look at this matter, but he declined, since he didn't have any issues with z-fighting (using tweaks and certain lighting mods helps cover them although they DON'T fix them). So far I think nobody with CK-knowledge ever tried to fix this, especially not Bethesda who have been very reluctant to say or tell anything on that matter.
Besidilo Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Starac has released yet another update for his mod. No changelog, though, so can't comment on it.
