Wrong or unable to use key when typing in console
z929669 replied to Crimson13's question in General Skyrim SE Support
Go into your OS settings for devices > typing and make sure it all looks kosher. Same with Time & Language settings. Try restarting. Also, I never use or need the keystrokes mentioned in the console, so I wouldn't be surprised if some of those aren't' intended to work. -
ACCEPTED Guard Dialogue Overhaul - UHDAP Patch (by mnikjom Eckss sharrken)
z929669 replied to Mousetick's topic in Skyrim SE Mods
Quality is good on both, but volume is a bit higher in 'A'. Since there is no plugin, and if the replacements better match UHDAP, it seems like a no-brainer to me even if not everything is covered. Testing them manually like this is fine. I may take a closer look later.- 12 replies

ACCEPTED Armor and Clothing Extension (by kryptopyr/Gamwich)
z929669 replied to TechAngel85's topic in Skyrim SE Mods
If you are running the SSE 1.0.0 guide, you must keep in mind the SSE version and all dependencies, including USSEP and mods that coordinate with that. Extenders and Resources ModGroups are also important to SSE and SKSE versions. Essentially, using our current SSE guide is a bit more of an advanced modding process, since we are not keeping it updated with all of the version flux going on around SSE right now. So no, don't just update all mods for that guide unless they are not required by the Step patches AND they are independent of other mods linked to these game-version updates. You will need to examine files, upload dates, and read the notes of each mod carefully on Nexus to be certain.- 27 replies

DynDOLOD requires PapyrusUtil
z929669 replied to Wolfstorm321's question in DynDOLOD & xLODGen Support
@Chriss So you somehow got a fairly old version of papyrus. you will need the main file. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/13048?tab=files In MO, be sure to select 'replace' and not merge when installing. Or delete previous version before installing this one. -

Good find if it works as advertised. If you find anything out in your own testing, we can create the mod topic for 2.0.0.- 12 replies

Could you post links to the mods where they were missing from nexus? Then I will update the guide with these. If you are unable to find a missing mod, there are sometimes alternatives that will work. For the Font Overhaul, you can try the following (font mods usually don't have compatibility issues other than SkyUI): https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/479 https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/40440 Please post back if you test one of these works with the Step SLE guide, and we can replace. Also please post back any other findings that indicate something else may need to be updated for the SLE guide. For future reference, when you have game-load issues with lots of mods and the needle in haystack problem, just disable the highest-priority half of your mods, sort with LOOT (correcting any dependency issues), and try starting the game. If it starts, re-enable the lowest-priority half of what you previously disabled, and retry. Continue doing this in half blocks like so until you isolate the issue.

When you are creating your mods, you should probably tag each with the guide version you intend them to be introduced (1.1.0 I think). This will allow you to consolidate those mods by clicking on this tag and also provides a reference as to what guide the mod was under consideration if accepted/dropped. Also, you should prefix with testing or accepted while tagging. If you wind up dropping a mod from a previous guide version, you should replace with 'dropped' prefix and tag with the guide version from which it was dropped (then there would be two different version tags, which is fine. one for the guide for which it was accepted, and one for the guide from which it was dropped). No big deal if you haven't been doing this, but it helps with sorting things out down the road. I will see about getting all of this written up somewhere for reference.

ACCEPTED Labyrinthian Shalidor's Maze Fixes (by wSkeever)
z929669 replied to Mousetick's topic in Skyrim SE Mods
Looks promising. We have a ton of mesh resolution to do, so looking at meshes against all 2.0.0 stuff is helpful. 'After' cliffs look more like I would expect with MM, so I prefer them. Not sure how this corresponds with 'with'/'without' though. I suspect 'without', so I will assume to hide ../2sided_mountaincliff*.nif ... And it looks like it can be installed anywhere, since there are no file conflicts. Marked for testing and potential ModGroups, depending on Tech's lighting choices there if we want to use that feature. -

Step SkyrimSE Patches (by Step Modifications)
z929669 replied to TechAngel85's topic in Step Skyrim SE Guide
If you follow the guide, these instructions are on that mod, so that's why I wasn't understanding. If you are using our patches, it is expected that you are following the guide I see your point about RDO and language though. I agree in principle.- 126 replies

Forgotten Argonian Roots - FOMOD (by foreverphoenix)
z929669 replied to Mousetick's topic in Skyrim SE Mods
Creating the mod page is fine, I was just pointing to where it had been mentioned previously. I hadn't even noticed it was RAR ... not a big deal but it seems silly, since the standard for Nexus is 7z. Seems like FAR-associated MAs are playing games -
Step SkyrimSE Patches (by Step Modifications)
z929669 replied to TechAngel85's topic in Step Skyrim SE Guide
Hmmm ... not for me. Check your LOOT version and mod versions for those mods. USSEP is what it is. There is no AE version, just the latest version.- 126 replies

Step SkyrimSE Patches (by Step Modifications)

Simple Children should be compatible with the USSEP. Maybe you want to rephrase this^ I suspect you mean something different, but it's not clear.- 126 replies

Agree the rollout was crap. More thought to marketing and 'bling' than practical use and articulation with SSE. AE should be a pure and separate DLC instead of having been conflated with the SSE update. Game marketers always make game versions very confusing for the user. They are only interested in selling the latest content or upselling/cross-selling existing content. They have no interest that aligns with their users. just thinking about it makes me crabby.

I agree and still wonder why. We should all expect this song and dance by now. I find it annoying that Bethesda is pushing the nagging updates to AE after rocking the boat with that update rather than doing things right the first time for once. Same goes with the ITMs if those aren't intentional.

Maybe AFKMods or Moddb? You can ask him on AFK (he quit our community because of some silly MO vs WB commentary I think. ) https://www.afkmods.com/index.php?/topic/5073-relz-cbbe-se-diffuse-maps-options/

Strange that Fugyduff is actively creating/porting such mods while at the same time stubbornly refusing to update more useful, existing ones he created in the past.

Sounds like a reasonable solution. I'm inclined to wait to see results for people doing this cleaning to determine if it causes/eliminates issues. If it has no impact and these are benign ITMs, we will probably not include the process in our guides.
-
It's not advised to clean them, since it will almost certainly break some things. I personally think that some of these references were left in the plugins to prevent save-game issues when users enable/disable some of them. Like the vanilla masters, these don't appear to cause any specific issues, AFAIK. I have been tempted to clean them myself just to see if there is any +/- impact, but I just don't feel like hassling with it 41x.

DROPPED FAR - Forgotten Argonian Roots (by redtox)
z929669 replied to TechAngel85's topic in Skyrim SE Mods
As I mentioned on the FOMOD mod page for this: I think it's silly to be using a mod that is so badly packaged in our guides and that 1) will probably never be fixed, and 2) does not have permissions that allow someone else to fix it. My guess is the author is long MIA. I vote to drop it from our guides on principle. I personally don't mind installing it, but I'm tired of supporting it for Step.- 28 replies

Forgotten Argonian Roots - FOMOD (by foreverphoenix)
z929669 replied to Mousetick's topic in Skyrim SE Mods
This has been mentioned here: I have considered this, but I think we are just trading problems. Restructuring and hiding are no more error pron than downloading this , extracting it, and repackaging so that it works as intended. Either way, it's error prone, and with this solution, we now must rely on an updated FOMOD, costs an additional download, and the problem of improper extraction/repackaging. The same kinds of actions are required, so it seems simpler and more robust to do it as we are currently, IMO. Others may feel differently, but I think it just adds a layer of complexity of installation and instructions maintenance. In fact, I am not sure why FAR has not been repackaged. On principle alone, I would rather drop FAR and any other mods that are improperly maintained without ability to re-upload if it's a permissions thing. -

LOD8 renders farther out than LOD4. With respect to terrain, there really isn't much visual diff when similar settings are used. Performance impact is minimal with the settings we recommend in the guides.
