Good article. Worth taking the time to read!

Ahh, Ok. That is odd. New scripts or recompiling old ones? If MO is not detecting the new file, then it must already exist somewhere in the MO virtual folder structure.

Mod Organizer: Mod optionals and patches - merge vs new mod (ie. folder)
echo451 replied to JUNKdeLUXE's question in Mod Organizer with STEP
Putting patches into a separate mod makes them more visible. But then they are subject to ordering. It's easier to track patches when it comes time to update. I use the 'notes' feature of MO if I am merges patches into a single mod. Losing track of what is where can lead to issues later. -
Did you run notepad++ from inside MO or outside? If you run it outside, yes, everything will get dropped into the original game folder.

There are too many variables in a game like Skyrim. If you don't mod and just accept someone else's choice you can reduce the number. For other games this feature may play well. Nothing replaces a human, except a thinking human.

[WIP] Merge Plugins Standalone {PUBLIC BETA}
echo451 replied to Mator's question in Mator's Utilities Support (archived, read-only)
In the test queue here. Some nice tools come out of late. Good work. -
Not related but perhaps helpful. I have encountered problems rebuilding my default skyrim.ini and skyrimperf.ini when ENBoost is enabled. As a workaround I disable ENB, rename the dll. Run the launcher. Once the graphic settings are detected correctly, exit and re-enble ENB. I am runing with an AMD GPU.

I run with a 240G SSD. It works fine. After putting Skyrim on the drive I was down to 20GB. With a recent upgrade cleanup removed I had ~60G free. I have a lot of application. Running WIN10 and I have had only one problem having to do with the sound. With steam, I found out, you can install your games on alternate drives. Everything does not need to be on the drive with the initial steam folder. When I downloaded the witcher 3 I quickly began to run out of space. Not knowing that I could move the game to an alternate drive I ended up copying the Skyrim to a different drive. I found did some test simple FPS and I could detect little difference between the SSD and a decent HDD. Not an exhaustive test in any sense. Good luck with your new rig.

VRAM usage for the vanilla game, no mods
echo451 replied to zerohaste's question in General Skyrim LE Support
My understanding and it is rather limited is that in an ENB, the processing is done in a separate 4G address space. Other then CPU usage and main memory resources, if these are not stress, you should be fine. The best test is to try it and see if you can live with it. Get a decent ENB manager. This will help if you decide to try other or just want to backout of a setting. -
All of the above plus You are close "C:/Program Files (x86)/Microsoft SDKs/Windows/v10.0A/bin/NETFX 4.6 Tools/CorFlags.exe" /32bit+ "C:/Steam/steamapps/common/Skyrim/PapyrusCompiler/PapyrusCompiler.exe" --- There has to be a space between the corflags.exe and the /32bit+ which is a flag. Alternately in a window cmd shell try cd "C:/Program Files (x86)/Microsoft SDKs/Windows/v10.0A/bin/NETFX 4.6 Tools/" coreflags.exe /32bit+ <file> where in your case coreflags.exe /32bit+ "C:/Steam/steamapps/common/Skyrim/PapyrusCompiler/PapyrusCompiler.exe" All one line You could also search for corflags.exe on your C drive. This should turn up a copy or three. Sorry the last post contained two items jumbled togther.

Ok. So this mod has a BSA of it own. I am guessing that I either need to unpack it or add it to the list. Ok. Unpacking worked. Makes sense.
-
Ok. Now I am a bit confused. I have tried loading several different esp's. Things were looking good and then I load the esp for 'Hearthfire multiple adoptions'. It dies in the same way as above. I cleaned the file. No Joy. This is frustrating. I wonder if the esp was made on a non-english installation.
-
Ah, Yes forgot about that fact. Small edit to follow.
-
Humm, where did you add the DLC bsa's or are they loose packed? Your right! , I think. I may have listed the wrong file. I was so excited that the sucker work! Any chance of getting the above added as a download? Thanks for the feedback DoubleYou always helpful.

LOL, ok figured out OP i think. Thanks for the links.
-
Excellent. Umm, noob question OP?

Me, me, me Yes. This is the kind of thing I am looking for. Other have bravely gone before. I but wish to follow and ill head off into the woods to get lost when it makes sense. Thanks Tech Is there a CK forum on STEP? Always hate when I search for something and miss it because I used the wrong keywords.
-
Yes, I was able to load a esp that had multiple masters. The record type was one that TES5Edit could not display detailed information on. Drilling down with CK seemed the only choice. *** I have not tried compiling a script yet. *** Learning how things work is always fun. But the frustrating 2 hours I spent even after a detailed google search was maddening. I wanted to spare other that experience and lets us all move on to something more useful. Once I found the solution, in a few places, it came down to a mistake that I made. Adding the SResourceArchiveList2 in the wrong section. Adding it in the first place as it already exists. Just missing a few keyword and my own rush to get it working lead to a sad late evening state of frustration. This YouTube video finally clued me in.
-
What the problem looks like. and I did a search and did not find anything for CK and MO. If this or something more useful is posted let me know. I am curious. Googling and reading some other forums it appears some folks think that MO has problems with script compiling? Fact? Fiction? Posts were a year or so old and then stopped. The CK is bad. Any piece of software that you rush to use because it will crash for no reason is frustrating. I wonder how they managed to put Skyrim together in the first place. Any other nuggets of wisdom about the CK out there?

So at some point you are going to want to run the CK using MO. Surprise, it does not work out of the box! Some assembly required. No warning sticker and just enough information, but missing the important parts, to lead one astray. This is not Mod Organizer fault. Running it outside of Mod Organizer and you will still have to do the following. *** Mistake on my part. Correct file is as follows. *** You will need to edit '....\steamapps\common\Skyrim\SkyrimEditor.ini' And add the following: STEP 1 Under the [General] section add the following if it's not already there. bAllowMultipleMasterLoads=1 STEP 2 *** Add the BSA's for the DLC content that you have. *** Under the [Archive] section change 'SResourceArchiveList2=' to SResourceArchiveList2=Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Update.bsa, Dawnguard.bsa, HearthFires.bsa, Dragonborn.bsa DONE! A NOTE OF CAUTION! If you are opening up an esp from a mod that includes a BSA you will either have to unpack the BSA or, and I have not tried this but it makes sense, add the BSA to the above. If you are switching things about constantly having to change the above will become a pain and mistakes will happen. Unpacking the BSA has it own risks. END OF NOTE You should now be able to run the CK and load more than just Skyrim.esm. The CK is a rather buggy piece of software in my opinion. It crashes when you look at it funny. FYI If you are curious the cause of your crash is Skyrim.ini [imagespace] bDoDepthOfField=1 iRadialBlurLevel=2 <-- Depending on your setting ULTRA vs HIGH that number gets bumped. Now the game kindly puts this number in the wrong spot. If you correct it, then run the game you get what you describe happening.

Skyrim Performance Monitor (by mnelson999)
echo451 replied to stoppingby4now's topic in Other Utilities
I have been using WIN10 and SPM together a long while. Here is how I have it setup. SPM will block keyboard input after it has run. You either have to exit the program or hit the reset button. Usage is to use the SPM launch skyrim button. Even if MO is running. This will set SPM to monitor. Once you launch Skyrim from MO it should begin to log. The custom FPS support mostly seems to work. I have had a couple of lockups on launch of skyrim. You also need to beaware of any other programs, virus detector and such. These can interfer. The notes supplies under the blue ? are very informative. This is a nice all in one package. Easier to use the a GPU-Z, FRAPS combo. To get the timing between GPU-Z and FRAPS you have to hand edit the GPU-Z log. The best thing about SPM is the instant feedback. Hope this is helpful and that you get it working. -
VRAM usage for the vanilla game, no mods
echo451 replied to zerohaste's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I am curious. What kind of video card do you have? How are you gathering the VRAM data? I have an AMD HD 7800 2G VRAM I have seen numbers from GPU-Z that go from ~1200mb for a vanilla system to ~1800 with a fulled loaded STEP Extended. It will peak at over 2000mb. As Aiyen stated the number is important only when you are seeing game affects and if it is being reported correctly. For me it seems to be an indicator of a consumption of resources. That it is starting so high is odd. Do you have something else running that might be using VRAM? The numbers seem to vary by system and graphic card. Use the number as a benchmark and see if anything interesting happens as you add more mods.
