ACCEPTED Book Covers Skyrim (by DanielCoffey and doccdr)
DanielCoffey replied to dstansberry's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
You are correct - that is an old issue that I can do nothing about. I think it is to do with the Havok scripts that display the books on the screen as they open. The text is somewhere else other than on the model of the book. -
I know it is on the "To be looked at" list but the wiki is still having issues today. I can't get the FNV DDSOPT batch files from it due to the 504 gateway timeouts. EDIT : It finally let me have them after a fair few tries.

Hidden mod - Realistic Wasteland Lighting Enhancement
DanielCoffey posted a question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
It looks like Realistic Wasteland Lighting Enhancement has been pulled from the Nexus. There is a comment to that effect on reddit. Does anyone know if this is a temporary thing? Is there an approved alternative source or replacement mod? -
Unofficial Patch Plus - which Optional file?
DanielCoffey posted a question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
I have just started a fresh F&L install and have stumbled at the Unofficial Patch Plus part of the guide. The Guide is still on version 1.38 of UPP and mentions "Installation: Install both the main file and the optional file." but the Nexus is on 1.42 now and has multiple Optional files. Which one is required? -
SSE & Modding - The early days

The Nexus is creaking under the strain though. I have had to put BCS on a Mirror since the Nexus can't handle files that large at the moment. I'll have another go at uploading tomorrow when it might be quieter. By the way, quick CK question... If I have a mod (BCS) which is used by another mod as a Master, how can I load the second mod (BCSLL) in the CK without it ignoring the master and giving "reference not found" errors all over the place? -
SSE & Modding - The early days
DanielCoffey replied to Pretendeavor's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
One difference between Vanilla Skyrim and SSE has just cropped up... the Notes mesh is handled differently. If you have a look at THIS you will see the text on the Note is squashed up at the top. It turns out the PageText object that the picture of the words is placed on is scaled differently between Vanilla and SSE. I have grabbed the latest NIFskope and extracted the SSE notes meshes and the structure of the NIF files is new. If anyone who reads the comments on the Book Covers Skyrim SE page has any insight I would really appreciate help. Fortunately the Books and Journals are correct. Phew! -
SSE & Modding - The early days
DanielCoffey replied to Pretendeavor's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
With nothing added except Book Covers Skyrim and default inis, I have had two crashes around Riverwood. One was near the Bandit Camp outside the Helgen cave and the other was near the bridge where there is that infamous "bird in the tree". Hopefully the Unofficial Patch might help with issues like that. -

I will have a look to see if Bethesda fixed the bug that prevented me using Alternate Texture Sets in Book Covers Skyrim but I won't hold my breath. This was an issue where, although xEDIT would let me enter the alternative texture sets, the game would not parse them for the World view of a book. If it was switched on properly it would allow me to get rid of about 80Mb of meshes in BCS. It is certainly great to see that xEDIT is ready so quickly! Oh, and since the XBox is apparently limited to 5Gb for mod storage, I assume that I would have to look at a "reduced size" version of BCS for the XBox? I could save some file space by making all the meshes use the world view normal map rather than the full inventory view. -
ACCEPTED Book Covers Skyrim - Lost Library (by DanielCoffey)
DanielCoffey replied to Nebulous112's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I think it should be Extended, not Core as some of the Michael Kirkbride lore was never released inside the TES Games themselves - it was forum lore around the games to get folks interested and promote discussion. You can see some of the comments about MK in The Imperial Library forum. -
SKYRIMLE Map of Dragon Burials (by DanielCoffey)
DanielCoffey replied to Sixxness's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I can't remember but I do think it is actually included in Book Covers Skyrim now. I don't have a Skyrim install to check however. EDIT : Yes, checking the Changelog shows it was added to BCS in version 3.3. -
Ambient Audio Stuttering - Win10
DanielCoffey replied to DanielCoffey's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
I have had a look at the Codec Tweak Tool but have not been able to resolve this behaviour yet. I suspect it is a codec issue since it is so clearly shown in that youtube video but the specific solution mentioned is not WIn10 safe. -
GUIDE Fear and Loathing in New Vegas - Feedback

Mod Suggestion : Ravens UV Map Fix This fixes the UV mapping on the Raven mesh and does not conflict with any other mod in the pack. It does not add an ESP. -
Share your CASM Settings
DanielCoffey replied to DanielCoffey's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
That's great, thanks. -
There is another one in FCO - Afterschool Special.esp. Paul Edgecomb has the lazy eye. I made the following edit... FCO - Afterschool Special.esp ... Non-Player Character ... xx001B34 Paul Edgecomb ... ENAM - Eyes ... EyeBlue2 "Blue 2" [EYES:xx011358C] Remember to re-include the mod in the Bashed Patch as it is one that is Merged by Wrye Bash.

I am getting a stuttering and burbling noise in the Ambient Audio in Good Springs. It is NOT the Radio Stutter issue. The radio and all dialogue plays perfectly. This short Youtube video is the exact issue... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zU-fncbZ0c0 Now on the Nexus there is a DirectShow Codec Filter reset tool ( https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/35868/? ) but I have no idea if it is suitable for Win10. Any opinions?

Would a couple of you mind sharing your CASM settings please? Specifically *when* a save is taken. By default, if you so much as sneeze, CASM saves so I am sure that folks turn a fair few off. I also assume you turn off the game's own autosaves, yes?

FNV and Windows 10 crash on start [SOLVED - nVidia]
DanielCoffey replied to DanielCoffey's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
Thanks, Audley - that was it. I checked the 372.70 drivers and they do NOT fix the FO3/FNV crash on start that was introduced with 372.54 so I grabbed DDU and 368.81 from NVidia and booted into safe mode. One quick DDU later and I was able to install 368.81. Another reboot and FNV loaded perfectly as expected so I am now back into the F&L guide on a clean install. SOLUTION : DDU and install 368.81 until NVidia announce that the drivers are fixed. -
FNV and Windows 10 crash on start [SOLVED - nVidia]

I am, yes. There was a new driver released today so I will upgrade to that first then DDU back to the previous. -
FNV and Windows 10 crash on start [SOLVED - nVidia]
DanielCoffey posted a question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
I have a totally clean vanilla, unmodded FNV GOTY Steam install and can't get it to launch a New Game under Windows 10. I just get the "Program has stopped working" crash to desktop. I last played it when I had Win8 but (like many of you) have come back to FNV after my (brief) FO4 experience and I am on Win10 now. 1. I have verified the Steam Install. 2. I have cleared the .inis and allowed the Launcher to make new ones. 3. The Launcher shows the splash screens, the Ranger with his pistol and the menus. 4. Selecting New Game starts the intro movie. 5. After the movie (or pressing Esc), the game attempts to load the official ESPs for a fraction of a second 6. Windows pops up the "Program has stopped working" box and "searches" for a solution. I wondered if it was anything to do with old DirectX files or Games for Windows Live (which is discontinued). Any thoughts? -
ACCEPTED Book Covers Skyrim - Lost Library (by DanielCoffey)
DanielCoffey replied to Nebulous112's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Hello folks - Nebulous112 has asked me to pop in to be available to answer any questions about the Lost Library. I am subscribed to this thread now. I am glad so many folks are enjoying it and I am very happy for it to be included in Extended. It would not be a good fit for Core because of the Michael Kirkbride texts (all hand-placed anyway). I should add two points... Book Covers Skyrim is Localised into the major Skyrim languages through its ESP and even has some non-English texture packs but the Lost Library is English only (plus a Chinese ESP). It would have less broad appeal for Foreign Language players who use native language Book Covers. The second point is that the mod contains a script which I understand was needed at the time to inject the new books into the correct merchant's inventories. I copied the method used in Frostfall at the time so I believe it is sound and there are no changes planned for it so it is stable. I do not understand the scripting needs so can't comment if there is now a better method. I don't play Skyrim at the moment so I have no idea what SkyRe/Perma overhauls are common and might affect the skill books. There is a universal SkyRe/Perma compatibility patch on the Lost Library download page. EDIT : There is now a German ESP at https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/76010/ -
GUIDE General Oblivion Support
DanielCoffey replied to hishutup's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
Bouncing Arrows... Is there a reason why arrows bounce off Atronachs instead of sticking into them? I was inside the first Oblivion Gate at Kvatch last night and noticed that my arrows were sticking into creatures such as Daedroths, Hungers and Scamps but were ricocheting off the Atronachs (all types, not just the "hard" frost ones). I was having to run all over to retrieve my precious arrows. They do inflict the expected damage. I wondered if it was working as intended but vaguely recall that something similar happens in Skyrim with mudcrabs and one or two other creatures. Mods added that are not in Mythic Dawn : MOO rather than OOO/FCOM === EDIT : Oh, I see it is a vanilla Oblivion feature that is apparently intentional. Fair enough.- 459 replies

Just thinking ahead... plenty of the PC mods are no go for the consoles (those that use SKSE or MCM for example, as Gopher said) while straight new content or replacer mods are going to be OK given some work. What what about those that affect levelled lists or which need compatibility patches? If we will be using something like the FO4 engine which is still tied to 256 ESPs, this is something that Consoles will have to watch for. I do intend to have a look at Book Covers Skyrim for both PC and console SSE when we get the tools such as TES5EDIT but some form of BASH tool is needed for mods with levelled lists such as my Lost Library which may have to remain PC only. Will consoles also have to watch for mod size too? BCS was just under 1Gb on disk when unpacked. Even if Bethesda fix the definition that would allow me to use alternative textures on a mesh, that would only shave about 100Mb off the mod.

GUIDE General Oblivion Support

You genius! Have a cookie! data/shaders/OblivionReloaded/coloring/coloring.ini It will probably be base gamma. EDIT : umm, it looks like I have EnableColoring=0 in the [Effects] section so it is probably being ignored. Back to square one.- 459 replies

GUIDE General Oblivion Support
DanielCoffey replied to hishutup's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
I have not been to any interiors yet apart from a hut outside the Imperial City (sheep and a dog outside - which MOO promptly spawned as diseased) and one or two shops inside IC which were perfectly adequately lit, albeit in the daytime. I will see what happens next time I am inside something at night or in a sewer under IC if I find one. I didn't know OR had more inis - I have not found them yet. I know there is the one in the OBSE/plugins folder and another in an INI folder which appears to control the settings in the ESP according to its readme. When I am next over on the Windows side and have Oblivion running I will reload an early save and check the darkness and take a screenshot. Some areas with actual godray lighting was well lit - it was just the very start area where you get locked behind and have to fight the first couple of rats, open the door with the Goblin Shaman key and find the Zombie that were totally pitch black unless I upped in-game brightness to 100%.- 459 replies
