Can't figure why I'm having CTDs after finishing the STEP:Core
Greg replied to henriquerpc's question in General Skyrim LE Support
What exactly do you mean when you say Memory Blocks Log is normal? I just want to be sure that it's showing something like 512 256 in the first line (verifying SKSE's memory management is active) and that the lines up through the crash never reach 512 256. In other words, the number in the last line should be less than 512 and less than 256. The game was working fine up through the end of 2.M. Gameplay and fell apart like a house of cards when you completed 2.N. Patches? If this is the case, uncheck all the mods from 2.N. Patches in the left pane to verify the game still works correctly. If this works, check STEP Compilation but uncheck the STEP plugins (the ESPs) included in the compilation in the right pane and run through the game again. If it still works, check the STEP plugins included in the compilation and try it again. Keep checking 2.N. Patches one-by-one in the left pane to narrow down which one is causing the issue. -
Well, that's not good. I was hoping it would balance out the backward walk and backward sprint because these do seem to be a bit too fast. It seems as if my character run backwards about as fast as the Draugr coming after me, and it just doesn't seem natural.

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/71491/? This looks like an interesting mod that balances the movement speed of the character and human NPCs. Increases walking speed (roleplay-walk) by 25%Decrease run and sprint speeds by a small amount (7%)Correct multiple values which were wrong in game (such as backwalking with one handed weapon being 0.6x the speed of backwalking with two handed weapon).Reduce sidewalk speed slightly. (Without this mod you backrun with speed of 205 and backrunsidestep with speed of 370. Very huge and unrealistic difference, backrunning and backrunsidestepping being just as hard in irl. This fixes it.)Modified movement speed values for Humanoid (Player and NPC). Walk 80 -> 100Run 370 -> 340Sprint 500 -> 470Sneak walk 47 -> 60Sneak run 222 -> 190 (left & right 170)

You need to re-run FNIS if you add any mod that add or alter animations (generally hkx files). You need to re-run DynDOLOD if you add any mods that add new worldspaces (Falskaar, Wyrmstooth, etc.), that alter the existing worldspace or cities (JK's Cities, Expanded Towns and Cities, etc.), or that change the meshes and textures for the existing LOD.

Skyrim stops loading - some times! - in the load screen.
Greg replied to Sentroshi's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Double check the settings in SKSE.ini and make sure it's actually named skse.ini instead of skse.ini.txt. If this doesn't solve the issue, install and enable Memory Blocks Log then try to load your save with DynDOLOD, STEP LOD Textures, and STEP DynDOLOD Output enabled. Post your results here in spoiler tags. -

You'll need to upload the screenshots to a sharing service like copy.com and then include the link to the screenshots here. Click the Image icon (the one to the left of the icon) in the toolbar and paste the link into the popup window. -
This is the list I quickly put together looking at the mods included in the compilation.

I haven't run into either of these issues with STEP 2.2.9.1, although I recently installed STEP 2.2.9.2 with Alternate Start - Live Another Life since I didn't want to go through the intro sequence again.

Is there a mod that... (Mod Detectives)
Greg replied to rootsrat's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
The closest mod I can find is SM Essential Player in which your character becomes a ghost for a period of time. Here are a couple of videos that demonstrate the mod. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7IRitMHbcc -
If you have VSync enabled with a 60Hz monitor, you don't really need to use the FPS limiter. If you have a 120Hz or faster monitor, I think you'll want to use the FPS limiter with VSync disabled.

character floating/no body upon new game, new s.t.e.p installation
Greg replied to crook's question in General Skyrim LE Support
This is if you are using the graphics enhancement features (e.g. with an ENB preset). bFloatingPointRenderTarget=0 is the recommended setting if you are only ENBoost without the graphics enhancements. -
Delete the bashed patch in Skyrim's data folder. The DLCs and patches are in the wrong order in the left pane, so you need to change this a follows:

Mod Organizer 2 Discussion and Feedback
Greg replied to TechAngel85's question in Mod Organizer Support
The lack of BSA management is a real setback, but I'm hoping this can eventually be resolved. Has anyone been able to get the INI editor to work with Skyrim? When I open the INI Editor, I get a blank dialog so I have to edit the INIs with an external editor. I also get "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error when installing SkyUI 5.1, so i had to repackage it without the fomod folder. -

Yeah, good point regarding the crocodiles. -
No, it's not case sensitive. Can you post the contents of your skse.ini in spoiler tags so we can see what it looks like? For reference, this is mine:

Now that's a quote of the day. -
Make sure you have skse_1_9_32.dll, skse_launcher.exe, and skse_steam_loader.dll in the Skyrim folder (in the same folder with TESV.exe). Make sure you are running skse_loader.exe (instead of TESV.exe) to play the game. If you are using Mod Organizer, you may need to add -forcesteamloader to the arguments for SKSE. Make sure you have SKSE.ini in the \SKSE folder in the SKSE mod in Mod Organizer as in this screenshot: Finally, make sure the file is named skse.ini instead of skse.ini.txt. Naming the file with a txt extension is unfortunately super easy to do with Windows hiding the file extensions by defauilt.

The STEP Compilation link has NexusID in place of the actual id, so the link goes to New Files Today.

CTD and Performance patch ENBoost (by Boris Vorontsov)
Greg replied to EssArrBee's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
No, this isn't likely to be the problem. All of the DirectX files are usually in C:\Windows\System32 and/or C:\Windows\SysWOW64. Going back to the beginning for a moment, can you run vanilla Skyrim without any mods (other than the Bethesda DLCs) or add-ons? The first step should be to run the Skyrim Launcher so it can create the appropriate registry entries and setup the ini files. Once this is complete, you should be able to run Skyrim in a pure vanilla state without any issues. If this is a DirectX issue, it may be that you need to run the DirectX June 2010 Update because the DirectX installer bundled with Skyrim doesn't include the updated version of DirectX needed by the game, and Microsoft makes it as difficult as possible to figure out which update is the latest. -
It took some digging, but I finally found the file you need here. This is a 7z archive that contains the batch files and 7za.exe. I know this used to be linked from one of the DDSOpt guides, but I don't see it linked anywhere now... unless I'm overlooking it somewhere. EDIT:: I made that text a link to the file.

I like the screenshot of the Solitude door in Reskin as well, but it seems a bit overkill to download a 160+MB mod to get that one texture.

CTD and Performance patch ENBoost (by Boris Vorontsov)
Greg replied to EssArrBee's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Verify you have SKSE installed correctly, your skse.ini file is configure per the Skyrim Script Extender Guide., and your enblocal.ini is configured per the ENBoost Guide. Also make sure you are running skse_launcher.exe to play the game.
