GUIDE General Oblivion Support
GrantSP replied to hishutup's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
@SynthetikHD So it appears you are running the Python version, not the standalone, could you try the latest standalone 305 version to see if that makes a difference? The Python errors are also indicating you have permission issues relating to the oblivion.ini, something is holding control of that file when WB is trying to write to it. Which is why I ask about any software that may be related to gaming running in the background. It's not likely but possibly that ini is being checked by AfterBurner and that isn't allowing WB access. It could also be an overly zealous AV package.- 459 replies

GUIDE General Oblivion Support
GrantSP replied to hishutup's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
Can you describe to me your steps in preparing the game to mod and/or run using your WB? I see no reason why WB would make any changes to the ini files unless you are adding a tweak or something like that. Do you have any graphics card tools running in the background? GeForce Experience or similar?- 459 replies

GUIDE General Oblivion Support
GrantSP replied to hishutup's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
What are you doing in WB that edits the INI? The changes you describe, and as @Hishy details, should make no difference to the game, all that is changed is the carriage return/line feeds are being stripped out. The game engine makes no use of those and are only put in to make it easy for us humans to read.- 459 replies

[ Q & A ] Using FNIS with Mod Organizer
GrantSP replied to GrantSP's question in Mod Organizer Support
I installed both FNIS and this werewolf mod into the Skyrim structure and ran FNIS from there, exactly the same result as from when I ran it from within MO. I'm not sure what you are expecting to see but for me at least I can get it to work with MO. -
The supplier that couldn't get the Asus MB also doesn't have any Sabretooth MBs, so I'm getting them to price the ASRock. Being in Tassie means I have to try and get most of the parts in one delivery to cut down freight, I can't just drive to town and get them myself. Hence my effort to get the four best suppliers to try and provide everything, or at worst, two suppliers. I also like the Maximus VI Hero but it's a little too pricey at the moment, around $299.

If Skyrim is installed to <path to game> and MO is installed to <path to MO> and LOOT is installed to <path to LOOT> and they are all unrelated, moving your MO installation should have no bearing on how LOOT sorts your plugins. LOOT's masterlist & userlist will be in your %localappdata%\LOOT\Skyrim folder and since the LOOT code will see the installed game based on the registry entry Bethesda setup, as far as LOOT is concerned nothing has changed when you move MO. However, just to be sure, remove the current entry to LOOT from MO's executables list and then add it back in, this will, for all intents and purpose, be like a fresh install of LOOT for MO. Or you can post your current ModOrganizer.ini so we can see how you have these tools setup if you can't figure out how to check for yourself.

Come upon a hitch with supply of the motherboard. Decided to go with an ASRock Z97 Extreme6. Good choice or not?

Does the Loot "sort" button respect user defined sorting rules
GrantSP replied to Aboogie1's question in Mod Organizer Support
No, do not install LOOT into the MO structure. Just install it as normal and assign the exe to the list of executables in the same manner as any other tool. See the MO wiki here. -
Does the Loot "sort" button respect user defined sorting rules
GrantSP replied to Aboogie1's question in Mod Organizer Support
The internal 'Sort' tool should use both the 'masterlist' & 'userlist' files that LOOT does. 'Sort' is just the cut-down LOOT api from LOOT and it looks to the same location for these files as the full LOOT does. -
@Nozzer66 Was that an upgrade or a forced-install? Also do you see any issues with Cortana or have you disabled her/it?
-
No worries, I've got thicker skin than that. I'm starting to get the supplier's quotes back now, some are willing to bend over backwards to supply everything together, with pleasant discounts as well. Nice! Won't be long now.

Possible to use Symbolic Links with the Mod Organizer folder?
GrantSP replied to KingKenny04's question in Mod Organizer Support
There's no need for symbolic links to have MO on your HDD and the OS & Skyrim on the SSD. Simply install MO on the HDD and have it look to the game executables as per normal, there is no need to have MO anywhere near the Skyrim install, especially in a folder under the Skyrim root folder. Though if your SSD is big enough I'd install MO and have its 'mods' folder on the SSD but have the 'downloads' on the HDD.- 2 replies

Correct, you should have no issues with BSA management with 1.3.8 onward.

I'm not sure if you're having a laugh at me or not? :O_o:

MO crashes when setting the category on two or more mods
GrantSP replied to Sakr3d's question in Mod Organizer Support
For what it's worth I have 1.3.8 and cannot replicate this behaviour. When/if you do create an issue in the tracker provide as much diagnostic information as possible, MO version, OS version, any logs after the crash, any dump files created, that sort of thing. -
Exactly... /*yawn*/. I'm building a new system and even I'm not impressed by Skylake. Why I was even looking at it though is another matter, I know I know, settle on the components and buy the damn thing!

OMG, how do you keep track of those thumb buttons? There is no way I can justify AU$320 for a keyboard! Looks nice though. I was going to say much the same as I had come to the same conclusion, but these days RAM is so cheap, why not go with the flow? By the way guys, I appreciate all the input in this matter. Thanks.

MO won't let me uncheck mods or sort by priority
GrantSP replied to Piranhaha's question in Mod Organizer Support
No, it is 99% of the time a case of the 'webcache' folder needing to be cleared. All calls to the Nexus api regarding 'endorsements, download status, login, etc.' are cached there and at times there is an issue with refreshing it. -
Who do i believe S.T.E.P, Loot or MO?
GrantSP replied to kingkonglouie20's question in Mod Organizer with STEP
Actually, now that it's mentioned, may I suggest a change to the descriptions in the downloads page to reflect this? Version 1.2.18 is listed first and many, less observant users, have installed this thinking it is the latest. I know, they should look at the version numbers, but you know, they don't! :O_o: So, if it was stated in that download's description it is a legacy install for XP users and that 1.3.x is the latest. -
After you have re-installed Steam and your game(s), I suggest installing MO outside of the actual game folder structure. There is no need for it to be directly inside the structure as MO can be configured to look anywhere. Create a dedicated folder elsewhere, perhaps called X:\Games\Tools\ and install MO there. Grab the archive version of MO and just drag/drop the contents into this folder and run it from there. The new ini files will be generated and you should not have any calls to Python again. If you do please provide full details about permissions to those folders in the post. The actual calls to Python are from the Qt code used by MO, not actually by MO itself so there can't be any changes made by @Tannin to fix how it is found, it just comes down to how your system is looking for it. Lastly the need to install Python isn't needed as MO is now shipped with a basic Python installation in the MO root folder.

[ Q & A ] Using FNIS with Mod Organizer
GrantSP replied to GrantSP's question in Mod Organizer Support
May I ask how you are determining that this mod's animations aren't being seen by FNIS? I've just installed it and all the animations are shown as loading into MO's VFS, thus they are available for the game and also FNIS. When you have the new mod installed and active, you then run FNIS. The animations are scanned and added to the FNIS Creature mod. If you open that mod in MO via the 'Information' dialogue and examine the 'Filetree' tab you will see the animations are listed in a new folder called "werewolfbeast" by means of a TEMPLATE file. This is the same method used by FNIS for all creatures. Therefore all the animations are now available for use by the game, so long as the FNIS Creature Pack mod, AND the new mod created from the "overwrite" are active. In this case I named my new mod: "Werewolf Beast Pack" and when you examine the 'Data' tab to see the file structure used in game, you will see that 'defaultmale.hkx' now is supplied by this mod, as the werewolf animations are added to it along with the other creature animations that use it.
