Good to know, thanks. So as I assumed with the SSDs. I'll look around for some SSDs, Samsung EVO 850 look to be fairly good. I've placed all the components on a spreadsheet with links to the manufacturer's specs pages if anyone wants to read up on them. I can source some of the parts cheaper than what PcPartPicker shows so I can get a bit more mileage from my money. I'll probably get a whole heap of fans anyway, the SPEC - 01 can take 5 x 120mm (one included) with the PSU bottom mounted.

MOD organizer application wont start afterr running the exe
GrantSP replied to InsaneSkyrimModder's question in General Skyrim LE Support
When MO is run for the first time it needs to initialise itself and create a few files/folders. The screenshot you have doesn't show these as being created yet. Did you allow sufficient time before force-closing it? -
Thanks. Fixed.

FNIS and the new v3.0 of xp32 skeleton extended
GrantSP replied to ebyrd10's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports (retired)
Error 53 is mostly due to an incorrect placement of the animation mods in the left-hand pane and therefore FNIS won't see the correct files. Examining the 'Data' tab in MO's right-hand pane will show you which mod is supplying that file, if it isn't the one you expect, re-arrange the order. -
CTD on Loading Game Skyrim Revisited + REGS + Perma
GrantSP replied to zielakxar's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
I've placed spoiler tags around your load order, you may want to do the same when you paste your logs, if you don't use a service like PasteBin. -
Wow! This thing is moving along nicely. Thanks guys. @Phazer11 I went with your PSU and HDD choices, looks good with those. @TechAngel & @Genius384 I decided to look at ASUS monitors and have chosen the Asus VX239H 23.0", I like the thin bezel design, though I can't find one around the US$100 mark. If I could get some input on the SSD setup. I'd like a dedicated SSD for the OS and another for games/gaming tools and then use the HDD for storage. So some questions: Is 120Gb sufficient for the OS? Is 250Gb sufficient for the games? Not sure about the case size either yet, I've just got that one there as the best choice option, but will investigate fitting the parts in once the parts are fixed as bought. Same with my keyboard/mouse choices. I can safely live with crappy generic inputs if I can save, but I'd prefer something a bit better than all my past choices.

Switched to the red team and I'm now looking at the R9 390 8Gb. Seems like newer games might not utilise more cores but greater VRAM is always a good thing. The PSU is now an EVGA 850W 80+ Gold to handle the current and possible future components.

You can use FOMM from inside MO to install the few problematic mods, that way you retain all the work you have previously put in and still have MO's other useful features.

Okay, the wife is almost convinced that this is a necessity so I'm probably going to be able to scrounge 2 grand. Not that it matters to anyone but I'm on a disability pension so money is sort of tight and any 'extras' needs to come from the wife's side jobs. Since being on the web and playing games is pretty much all I can do, she seems fairly keen to help with that. So, I'm opting for a beefy PSU and probably going for a 980 as the GPU. Maybe down the track I can get another and SLI them. Most of the PSUs I'm looking at now are the modular sort so I think that should cover any issues with how it is delivered to the parts.

BenQ it is then.
-
Hey thanks for that. What's the reason for the i5-4690 over the 4460? Also I like that the BenQ is 50 bucks cheaper, you have any experience with BenQ monitors?

Attempting to load FOSE in MO loads the default Fallout 3 Launcher
GrantSP replied to Siinful's question in Mod Organizer Support
Let's chalk it up as 'one of those things'. -
I feel for you, I had a similar experience with Visual Studio and .NET framework requirements. Couldn't install one because the other was old but I couldn't update the later because it wasn't old enough! Damn Microsoft's internal checks making us jump through hoops. I eventually got everything sorted but it involved a lot of un-installing, re-installing, updating, back-dating and general hair-pulling.

Thanks guys. Just to put the final nail in the power coffin, I was simply going off the PcPartPicker's own mechanism for determining the power. You can't see it in the link but when you actually select a part there is a section which highlights any problems in the choice such as power needs and the page told me my parts would only draw 418W. Now that I know better I will look wider to the actual specs. About the 770's being killed off, I'll take your word for it and pick something else. This is quickly escalating into coming closer to 2 grand now. EDIT: SP just reminded me of a very good point that should be addressed. DX12 is out shortly and if I want to use Win10 to its best I probably should look at a card that can handle it. This needs a re-think. EDIT: A couple of articles that might allay fears over DX12 GPUs. Anandtech & PCWorld

That's good, glad to see people haven't lost the ability to do research. I'm very interested to see what results you get and if you have any suggestions to help others like yourself find that answer. About 3.5.1 compared to 3.5, I'm not 100% sure that will make a difference as I'm pretty sure the functions needed will be in the 3.5 framework, though I could be wrong. Couldn't hurt to try either way though.
-
@DoubleYou's post speaks about the need to have the correct .NET runtime enabled. Press 'Start' and type "Turn Windows features on and off". There is a setting called: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 and it should have the box filled if that .NET framework is enabled on your system, if not enable it. This was also added to the MO wiki as seen here. From what I understand it is only the external fomod installer that needs the specific .NET functions and is why the rest of MO will get along without incident. Additionally only a few users seem to have systems where that .NET framework isn't enabled so it doesn't get seen often.
-
Well that sucks! Ok, ditch the case and PSU and will look for something else. So, minimum is now 600W. Thank you both.
-
The build shows it draws around 418W so I figured a 500W PSU would suffice.

Attempting to load FOSE in MO loads the default Fallout 3 Launcher
GrantSP replied to Siinful's question in Mod Organizer Support
Ahh... missed that detail. Well if that's the case the log appears to show everything working correctly. An examination of the last fose.log will show if it has loaded. -
Attempting to load FOSE in MO loads the default Fallout 3 Launcher
GrantSP replied to Siinful's question in Mod Organizer Support
If you have a retail copy of FO3 I'd try that first as it eliminates a hurdle immediately. That log shows MO calling the launcher first, is that the only log as the first try should point to fose being called first, as your previous logs show? -
Okay so I'm on the march towards getting my components and I would like to know where I can pare down on some of these prices. It isn't really a bad price range but the closer I can get to AU $1000 the better. Any suggestions on the best components to look at first. This is a gaming system so obviously the greater the GPU I can get at the expense of other items is where I'll be looking. I've decided to use an online builder to gather the parts but I can already source some of the parts cheaper through stores that this site doesn't see. Have a look and let me know what you reckon. This is a WIP and subject to me 'buttering up' the missus!

Attempting to load FOSE in MO loads the default Fallout 3 Launcher
GrantSP replied to Siinful's question in Mod Organizer Support
Do you have the Steam client active before you start to run FO3 via MO or not? There have been one or two other users that have had issues with FO3 not working properly, sadly it still isn't definitive why this is the case for them and not everyone. However, try this topic and see if the suggestions there make any difference. -
Have a look at these instructions from another thread answering this question.

Mod Organizer suggesting different loard order than LOOT?
GrantSP replied to DOHstep2013's question in General Skyrim LE Support
If you wish to disable these MO suggestions go to: Settings > Plugins -- 'Basic diagnosis plugin' and double-click on the check-conflict & check_modorder plugins and set them to "false".
