While you are actually doing the editing these files are in the VFS, but upon closing FNVEdit, and saving your work, you will have made changes in one of two places. If the file you were editing was already existing AND was active in the MO left-hand pane, upon exiting FNVEdit that file will be updated If the file was not active in the left-hand pane, MO will have no reference for it in the VFS and it will be placed in the 'overwrite' folder. From there you can create a new mod and that plugin will be found there or drag/drop it into an existing mod.So, long story short, files edited in the MO environment WILL be changed. The edits you make do not exist only in the VFS.

The wiki is written for just such a case as this. The warning messages are addressed here and are explained quite well. If after reading the wiki you still have questions, then by all means ask in the Mod Organizer forum.

Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback
GrantSP replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
The MO version 1.2.16 has indeed fixed that awful reordering problem. Haven't had time to check all the other fixes but so far looks good to go. -
@Nozzer66 Are you talking about the 1.2.16 or 1.2.15 version. Tannin just pushed the bugfixes through last night, our time, which according to the changelog fixes all the issues introduced with 1.2.15.

You mean Mod Organizer don't you? Were you not able to choose Chrome?

List of FNV Variables
GrantSP replied to fireundubh's topic in General Fallout 3 Discussion & Support
Yeah I got that much. Looks like no-one knows what that 'u' means. Trying to figure out what the difference is between these variables and every other setting since they too are, by definition, variables. One of those Bethesda quirks. -
List of FNV Variables
GrantSP replied to fireundubh's topic in General Fallout 3 Discussion & Support
As I have been, on again - off again, trying to compile a list of all these variables for all the games, I'll just say thank you very much. Question: what is the meaning of "uVars"? 'User defined variables' maybe? -
Unmanaged Mods Priority Resetting with MO 1.2.15
GrantSP replied to Gratis_monsta's question in Mod Organizer Support
Please do search for similar topics before posting. This has already been noted and a current bug report is posted. Thank you though for the added information. -
Not familiar with how Win 8.1 handles IE so I'm only offering suggestions. When you are actually using IE to browse the Nexus website and you click a mod's "Download with Manager" icon, what happens. By this I mean you have started IE normally, without using MO to launch it via the globe icon. Is that behaviour the same for all unknown filetypes or extensions? ie. are you taken to the app store instead of searching your computer?

Cannot reorder Unmanaged files and other problems
GrantSP replied to Judassem's question in Mod Organizer Support
Yeah, the wiki has a FAQ that describes what you need to do. Pretty simple since nothing is in the registry and everything is either a folder or an ini.- 4 replies

What if anything is in the arguments field for the fnv4gb exe in mo
-
As of version 1.2.15 it is now included.

To be fair, the majority of postings here and on the Nexus page aren't actually 'bugs' and when they are one or more of the more experienced users posts those onto the Bug Genie. Take for example the "issue" with the 'file doesn't exist' message. After a couple of posts were made, @DoubleYou posted it on the Bug Genie. Do you really want that site filled with non-bug related issues. Most of the threads here are from users not understanding how to do things and incorrectly setup configurations or similar situations. Even now on the Bug Genie there are 'bugs' that aren't really bugs just user error. Wouldn't it be better for your time to be on actual 'bugs' and not have to deal with these minor hiccups? Just a thought, what ever you decide is fine by me. I just think the Nexus page and here can field most of the posts without you needing to worry too much about them. There are plenty around that can answer most of the raised 'issues'.

Yeah, I'd go with your conclusion too. Still, the amount of information on this topic in STEP is immense, I am a little bemused by the lack of search results. Nevertheless, whatever gets added here all goes into the mix.

With the latest update of MO, 1.2.15, some users are apparently overly concerned with some minor issues. Currently Tannin has locked the Nexus forum due to the amount of pointless questions that are asking the same thing that was answered only a handful of posts previously. A similar thing does occur here in the MO support forum, and also in the wider STEP forum. So, what steps should you take if think you need to post a question? Observe the Pins -- At the top of the Mod Organizer Support forum is a bunch of stickies (this is one of them). There are solutions to common problems there. Check there first. Search the forum -- In the top right hand corner is the 'Search' function. It works. It works REALLY WELL. Use it. Search the forum again -- If your chosen search parameters didn't yield the answer you wanted, choose something else. Search the forum yet again -- Yes I do mean this. Sometimes the answer may be in a post that isn't directly related to your issue. Read the posts -- As well as searching for direct answers, read a section of current threads as often snippets of information that are valid for a wide range of issues may be mentioned. Don't worry -- Mostly the issues you have are minor and wont affect your gaming experience. Phrase your post in a way that elicits helpful replies -- "Why did your update break my game?" or "This function is stupid" are not very attractive even though that is what you may be feeling at the time. We've all done it, posted in the heat of update rage. From now on though, just take a minutes break and calm first, then word your question. Does your input really need to be added? -- Is what you are asking, or stating, add to the overall infobase about the issue? Could you just wait and see if others have similar problems and thus verify that what YOU are seeing is actually an issue. Be helpful -- Along with asking the question, provide as much detail as you can. Any settings that you have that will be needed to replicate the issue. Use
text
tags or post them into a hosting service like PasteBin. Include screenshots if they help. The more you tell, the quicker the solution will be. When the answer is provided, it will be helpful to mark that response as 'Answered' thus assisting the users to see where their attention can be directed Come back -- When you feel like adding to the experience and you have something you can assist with, feel free to do so. Avoid the "Einstellung Effect". -- That is asking for help with your solution rather than asking for help with your problem. That is, you are trying to solve problem X and you think solution Y would work. But instead of asking about X when you run into trouble, you ask about Y.

That's a joke right? How can any software developer be taken seriously if he refuses to leave behind Win XP and only support 1 graphics card developer? Yes, I know all the software is free and therefore he doesn't actually make a living from it but really? Win XP! The hardware issue I can understand a bit easier, it is more of an investment to have 2 systems. With the amount of ENB users around maybe even a 2nd system could be scrounged together for him if he can't afford one?

There are already numerous threads started on this subject so I'm not sure how extensive your searching was. Aside from that, post the actual paths to all the relevant tools, Fallout, Steam, MO & FNV4GB, as well as the actual settings you have set in MO. Additionally can you post your modlist, particularly the amount of BSAs you have being loaded, as there is an issue with the Fallout games and the number of BSAs you can load.

FO3Edit says I am missing 'Advanced Recon Tech.esm'
GrantSP replied to Michiba's question in Guide Support & Bug Reports
Its part of the Advanced Recon Thermal Nightvision mod. If you can't see it then you must either have installed it incorrectly or otherwise removed it by mistake. ninja'd -
Naming player characters with special characters
GrantSP replied to GrantSP's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Well I would've thought it was a simple text string but I can't even paste one in so I'm not really sure. I'll do a bit more searching when I redo my Khajiit character. -

Common CTDs, Freezes, ILS and memory issues
GrantSP replied to hishutup's question in General Skyrim LE Support
I think nozzer66 may have posted something similar about where skse.ini should be a few weeks back. -
Yes, you are understanding me correctly. ALL references in the tes4ll_all.mpb that were, TES4LL\Textures\landscapelod\generated, are now, TES4LL\Textures\LandscapeLOD\Generated. What that means is every file that would go into the 'overwrite' folder now is correctly pointing to the folders as outlined in the TES4LL mod. Now ALL files are found in the TES4LL mod and nothing is in the 'overwrite' folder, including the logs. If you are finding the logs in the 'overwrite' it is because they don't exist in the virtual file system when the batch file are run. ie. if you copy those logs into the TES4LL mod and then run them again, they will update the existing files because MO finds them in the VFS. For those files its simply a matter of choice. Do you want them in the 'overwrite' so you are prompted to examine them and then perhaps remove them, or do you just accept them as being correct and they can stay in the mod folder? The basic thing to remember about what ends up in the 'overwrite' folder is this: If it exists in the VFS then it SHOULD be updated and not be found there. Files exist in the VFS ONLY if the mod is active in the left-hand pane. I've added these instructions to the Oblivion specific MO page. Do you feel they are accurate enough?

Naming player characters with special characters
GrantSP replied to GrantSP's question in General Skyrim LE Support
So I must be the only one that can't use apostrophes in the name field when creating a character? -
It would seem my questioning fore further must have piqued his interest. He's just asked me to provide some details on the registry settings found in my Win7 64bit machine. Perhaps some quirks in those are responsible for this message not finding the correct key. From memory Gopher, who also has this warning message, is on Win7 64 bit and I'm sure Michael from GamerPoets is on Win8 so perhaps that's where the answer lies. You are not going to believe how easily this was fixed. Wait for it... use version 5.2! Now I'm pretty sure I installed v5.2 over the top of v5.1 in MO. Maybe there was something left behind in 5.1, which has an error that misses the trailing backslash in the registry search, and when I installed v5.2 it was still there. Anyway, I removed v5.1 and installed a fresh v5.2 and no warnings. It's always the simple things that get overlooked. Kudos to @fore for sticking with it as he could have just told me to not bother.
