Mod Organizer executables and mods problem.

Ahh... GSDFan you are a genius. According to his ModOrganizer.ini in the PasteBin link above he does have that set to TRUE. This will cause a dialog box like this one to show: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8RvXltL5NgdaEtwb2ZKM2RmUlk&authuser=0 -
To be fair it isn't an issue. FNIS runs just fine and the results are not based on the warning. Its just one of those curiosities that intrigue me.

There is provision for custom upload sites. It would be good if we could add the wiki image upload, that way any images we use in our personal posts could be stored on a site that would last as long as the forum. The actual functionality of the image upload is hidden behind the wiki framework I think and won't be easy to decipher.

Important links related to Mod Organizer
GrantSP replied to GSDFan's question in Mod Organizer Support
With the change to removing the tabbed chapter selection all these links are basically the same now, going to the top of the wiki. Not sure if it warrants an edit or not. -
It would appear that Fore doesn't wish to add anything further to the discussion apart from: "did you read the stickied comment?" Despite my pressing him further he hasn't repsponded despite answering a few comments all around mine/ours. Ah well, not really that important. Still, I would like to know what FNIS is reading to get that status.

Mod Organizer executables and mods problem.
GrantSP replied to Cresbot's question in Mod Organizer Support
So do you have all the tools working properly and the mods loading as it should be? What sort of security restrictions are in place with Windows? Although the old joke is "have you rebooted your system", I find it strange that in this instance that is what fixed your situation. The tools set in MO are only text file settings and make no change to the environment of Windows so shouldn't need a system reset. Likewise with the mods, these too are just variables in an list that is read by MO. -

You only have DSR and TES5Edit set as executables. How are you running these tools you say aren't working? -
Mod Organizer executables and mods problem.
GrantSP replied to Cresbot's question in Mod Organizer Support
I only ask because many, many users posts questions about why their software is doing what it does attributing nearly magical or AI-like decision making on to it. Questions like: My program has decided to randomly run only certain tools. Why? or Why does MO not like it when I try to do this? Yes, these are humorous, but they are also real questions. Users seem to think MO can suddenly decide to change the way it does things when THEY are using it, compared to the 1000's of other users. So the question remains. Why is it your executables list is only running FNIS? Please post your ModOrganizer.ini into spoiler tags:
text
or paste it to a hosting site like Pastebin so we can see what MO is set to run. -
Help!! skyrim and other executables cannot read Virutal folder
GrantSP replied to Perdurabo's question in Mod Organizer Support
For future reference MO needs to have the Skyrim data folder clean of any mods. Mods installed manually or by Steam will cause you more grief if you also try to manage your mods with MO. Keep the Skyrim folder clean and install only with MO. -
MO's 'Sort' command is a stripped down version of LOOT. Using that orders your plugins (right-hand pane). Using the full version of LOOT does the same thing. The left-hand pane also needs to in a correct order, usually if you follow the STEP guide or just the instructions on the mods' page they will be in the correct order. You can move these around but any assets that are needed will be flagged as overwritten or conflicted by MO. The wiki outlines all this very well.

Help!! skyrim and other executables cannot read Virutal folder
GrantSP replied to Perdurabo's question in Mod Organizer Support
hmm... My first thought would be MO might be falling over the path names, but surely not. Just to check, could you install SKSE and then start MO? If MO has no issues with the German path names it will be automatically shown as the top option in the dropdown list for the 'Run' command. For the sake of this test just grab the archive version and copy into the Skyrim folder only the *.dll *.exe files from with the archive. Later we can install the scripts properly into MO. That is of course unless you are feeling confident and you can just follow the instructions as outline by Gopher. -
"one month since last access" Your search skills are obviously much better than mine. I have only just found that on their FAQ and only because I was specifically looking for it. Creating the account gave me no such information. That changes everything. It is not going to serve as a useful repository for my images in the forum if the screenshots provided are not there. Time for another re-think. Question though, I can't get my Dropbox images to show as images on the forum page if I use the 'Image' link code. They only show as a placeholder that takes you to the Dropbox page from where you can see the image. While that still serves the purpose it is an unnecessary step. How do you link them? Apologies to @hishutup for hijacking this thread. My question though doesn't really warrant a new thread and it is in context.

Help!! skyrim and other executables cannot read Virutal folder
GrantSP replied to Perdurabo's question in Mod Organizer Support
Post you ModOrganizer.ini in spoiler tabs:
text
Also provide the actual installation paths for Skyrim and MO and at least one of the 'problematic tools', e.g. LOOT. Lastly have you moved your Skyrim installation after its initial install? I'm assuming not, but just eliminating all possibles. -

Did you run Skyrim at least once outside of MO before using it to manage your mods? This sets the ini files and registry properly. -

Have you read the wiki on how to install 3rd-party programs? It sounds like you are only changing the name of the executable but not the binary field. -
Really? I have not seen any listings and I have just started using that service also. Very quick and easy. It would be a shame to ditch it now.

hmm... could be. I just removed the server details from my Fallout3 MO ini and downloaded a file, I got just one server added but fortunately it is 8x faster than the one I removed. Not really a big deal for me, but I have seen a couple of posts from users that are seeing this and the 'company line' doesn't seem to marry up with what is happening. Anyway, thanks for the info.
-
@GSDFan is that what you are actually getting? I know that is what is supposed to happen but for me only my initial installation gets the server list updated, all my subsequent installs have just one server listed. I have noted this on other posts and also created a bug report but not everyone seems to have this experience. This is my initial install: and this is a typical list from another install: No matter how many downloads I make and for whatever game, these "lists" never change.

Actually I was probably a little too off-handed with that comment, it was late for me when I posted. I think your question is actually a very valid one. Why does GamerPoet not have that message? I'm on the trail now. Got nothing better to do this afternoon. EDIT: After doing some investigations I have come up with... nothing! My installation mirrors that of both Gopher and Gamerpoet yet only one of us has no warning message. In desperation I left a nice question for Fore on the FNIS mod page.

Although I find the way the servers being assigned as very annoying, Tannin has repeatedly stated that there is no code in MO that changes the way they are handled. The server you get is the way Nexus has assigned it, nothing to do with MO.

Yeah the 'new' interface is less that user-friendly but it is manageable. I just had to learn to change the default tab to "Unread" instead of "Timeline" and it is nearly back to usable again. The 'Mark as read' option is only a long-press selector instead of a checkmark now, different but not gone. Actually the long-press options aren't too bad.

I have seen this message on all my fnis runs and I don't believe there is anything to worry about. However I too would like to know where it comes from. So if you just want to play, disregard it. If you want to investigate, go for it.
