DROPPED Improved Combat Sounds (by judgefredd)
EssArrBee replied to stoppingby4now's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
We should only drop irrelevant mods from the current list and decide on these mods for 2.2.9. They don't have the same problem as SOS-Dungeons does. Plus, if we start dropping a bunch of stuff retroactively it creates a huge problem for me updating the current patches. -
why aren't graphic packages optomized before uploading?
EssArrBee replied to elanaahova's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Depends on the permissions given on the mod page. I had a list of which mods could be re-uploaded, but it is buried somewhere in my harddrive. -
Are we retroactively dropping SoS-Dungeons with AOS v2 for 2.2.8? I'm guessing for 2.2.9 it is gone, but I need to know since I'm about done updating to the latest edition of all the mods in the list and going into my TES5Edit void for bit. Hail Sithis!
-
It would amazing if there was page that could aggregate the mods in step that update by date. I've been on a skyrim break for a bit and finding all the mods that have updated the last few weeks is not fun. Also, we need to make some 2.2.9 decisions pronto, so I can start getting the working patches to the pack authors before release.
-
Does that apply to all file types or just images? I noticed fonts (.fft) do not apply either if they are from external URLs.
-
I'll do it tomorrow, promise. Did AOS 2.0 do the dungeons? Should I also take it upon myself to update michealrw's AOS patches and just pass them along to him when RL isn't in his way?

GUIDE FNV Guide - Info and Feedback
EssArrBee replied to EssArrBee's topic in Fear & Loathing in New Vegas
I've done quite a bit the last two days in terms of trouble shooting and I've added about 10 mods. My goal was to get to three of the big things on my list of which I've done two so far. I'll probably get a third one after I watch the Walking Dead. I need a break really, figuring out the those XML files really did a number on my resolve, but I think I can help anyone that has a problem if it arises. Actually, I'm sure it will, so ask away. I guess the best thing to do would be to start a thread dedicated to just that section which has grown and will grow again now that I've got Flashlight NVSE and Advanced Recon Thermal Nightvision working well. ENBoost will probably get added tonight as well. Just gotta find the right wording for it. Willow and NVInteriors tonight as well, and that will be plenty of mods for this weekend. After that I'm going to work on the actual writing of the guide until next weekend before adding anymore mods. -

Thanks for keeping up with the guide's progress. I don't mind novice level users, your input on whether the guide is easy to follow helps a lot. I forget sometimes that people don't know as much as do about modding as I do. I guess I've been doing this for to long. I'm still not completely happy with the way everything is installed in the UI section, but I really can't find a better alternative until the external installer for MO gets more work. I'm sure that it will, but it is just a waiting game. Mostly it can't handle all the C# functions for whatever reason, but they are necessary for XML files. Anyways, I've been so completely held up with making the UI section as user friendly as possible, that I haven't really had time to do much else, even though I should add NVInteriors and Willow. They are tested for the most part and I like what's going on with both mods. Last night I got Advanced Recon Thermal Nightvision and Flashlight NVSE working, but I started a whole new install to do it and I'm only up to the big texture packs. I'm guessing something later on is the problem, hoping it isn't Roleplayers Alternative Start, I can't live without that mod. (Hint: When doing the player history in the little computer choose Mechanic and you start with Jury Rigging perk.) -

I've determined that there is just no good way to install mods with FOMM or NMM. They both present problem that I just can't stand for. FOMM gives me the type of errors that probably will cause more people to have issues with it than the NMM method does. The problem with NMM is the inflexibility, having to reinstall the whole section if you want to add to that section. FOMM has the exact problem with all these xml documents. The scripted installers sometimes do not add files if one already exist, but the uninstaller will remove those files even if it didn't place them there in the first place. So it creates a very frustrating situation where you have to reinstall from that point back to uHUD or something in the MCM or HUD will be wrong. Maybe someone else has figured out how to do it better than I have. I don't want to get rid of MO since the profiles reduce my testing time immensely, but I might not have a choice. Maybe NMM 0.5 will make things better when it's out of beta. And of course, as I'm typing this I think I've figured out how to do it all safely, will return... -
CTD and Performance patch ENBoost (by Boris Vorontsov)

I wonder if Phinix is going to be done modding for a while. He said he has monster rig, but might have had to sell it since he was unemployed. Would be a shame. -

That merge is different than the FNVEdit merge script. In MO you can merge multiple files from the same mod into one folder. For your problem just get rid of everything except the main plugin and the PN plugin. All the other plugins can be removed, in Wrye, you just untick the plugins on the right hand side of the installers tab. Each mod should it's plugins listed. Pretty sure that is how it works, been a while since I used Wrye for installation. After that just get the very next mod on the guide, my Improved Sound - WMX patch. That includes the weapon sharing fixes and the DLC patches, plus WMX compatibility. -
With alt3rn1ty bouncing around here again, maybe ask about a non-nude version of Alt Navetsea to go along with Better Males.

Use the directions on the guide and reduces the plugin count to two. The main plugin gets merged to bashed patch which leaves only my patch. -

Alright, I have finally conquered the ins and outs of using MO and FOMM together without going completely insane. I know the possible problems that arise and how to solve them because I am amazing. I've updated the guide to now install the Interface mods that Unified HUD requires to show installation with MO and FOMM. Will have to update the OP with some info when I get time. Some things to be aware of when doing this: Darn UI might not install correctly with MO, for some reason the menu/options folder is skipped and that has the start menu in it. Click [Manual] then click [Okay] when installing it, for some reason that worked for me. I will update the guide to point out this issue soon.Never deactivate mod with FOMM, just leave it installed even if you remove it with MO. If a mod needs to be reinstalled, like Unified HUD, then just Reactivate the mod, then move the files from Overwrite to the mod's folder. Easy peasy. Some of the scripted installers with FOMM can mess up overwrites, so be careful. Some mods are not supposed to install certain files if that file already exists, but the installer does this anyways. Probably do to the virtual directory or the updated installer code of FOMM - Fork that mod authors haven't adjusted for. Solution is to hide the file(s) that weren't supposed to be installed. This is important with DarnUI files, let the DarnUI file be 'seen' or the Project Nevada one, either are okay if you followed my install instructions for those mods. You have to manually put in the mod's nexus ID and version number if you want that stuff since FOMM installs in the Overwrite folder. Now that I've finally figured out how th whole thing works I'm going to add a few mods to that section, probably the JIP Weapon Overheating and Selective Fire mods. Also, I added a couple gameplay mods for casinos and the Honest Hearts Sandstone textures from Textures Over Time. I've tested NV Interiors Project a bit. Will add it after just a little more testing. Seems like some of the areas added have to much good gear. The first place I found was loaded with armor and weapons. Goodbye NMM. -

I'm starting work on it now. The original FOMM was very unstable when used with MO, but the FOMM - Fork works really well unless one of the installers calls a specific FOSE function, but I haven't seen one yet. Also, I now have the added benefit of recombining the User Interface section into one big section instead of two. Yeah, I like EWI's stuff overall, but to me it seems as if every rock textures is the same and the color is just being changed. When I finally have more time for it I am going to look over the rocks again. Hetrol's Manholes are still the best, but those sun rays may make it in pretty soon. Not sure about the desert pack either, I'm going to have to examine the desert area around Vegas because I've only ever been to the hotels and the airport, so I don't actually know what the landscape really looks like there. -

The best order on install for any HUD altering mods is found at the bottom of the one HUD page. Your best bet is to get the FOMM fork, uninstall uHUD and OneHUD, install flashlight nvse, then reinstall uHUD and OneHUD all with FOMM fork through MO. You have to install one mod at a time since the installed mod will end up in your overwrite folder. Just right click the overwrite and select create mod and name it. Then just do it for every mod I listed. If MCM has problems then reinstall it before the other mods I listed and flashlight nvse. Also, I can't officially support flashlight nvse since I can't get it to work with project Nevada. If you get it working let me know how you did it. -
implemented Mod Suggestions subforum for Fallout Series forum
EssArrBee replied to rootsrat's question in Forum Support
TBH I just noticed that it had been moved. I bet most users just hit 'View New Content' and don't really look at the subs, I know that is how I do it most the time unless I'm looking for something specific. With a sub though I can start up a few threads to keep the growth of the main thread slow, so it doesn't have 100 pages of posts or I'll close it at like page 25 and start a new one. -

Good find, was wondering about the white wash outfit pants not appearing. Now if I could just figure out the naked guys from the Trooper Overhaul Distributed plugin, I'd be set. I did see it. Thanks for reminding me about it. I think today I'm going to have quite a bit of time that I thought I was supposed to have last week. That means today or tomorrow I should do a bunch of updates, DDSopt preliminary support for vanilla BSAs, extra page of info for troubleshooting 4gb loader problems, redoing the first section on UI to use FOMM instead of NMM and the import thingy, mods always more mods, and conflict resolution. That is a ton of stuff to get to, so if I only get to three of them then I will call it a success. Also, want to do some screens and get to some texture comparisons. My least favorite thing to do. -

If you have a full setup on Wry then I wouldn't mess with it, especially with the problems you've had. It would be a shame if you switched over to MO and spent all that time only to have it not work again. Also, yeah I meant the FOMM fork. The older version crashes when I try to run it with MO, but the new one is working really well. Wrye Flash NV just updated too. Didn't think development was ongoing with for it anymore. -

I can't find any errors in my merged ADAM patch, but I'm definitely not a novice when it comes to these type of things. Otherwise, I wouldn't be qualified to take on a project like this, well I would, but that would be irresponsible. I've played with it for a while now, many hours, and can't find anything wrong with it nor does FNVEdit. As far as testing is going, I've had issues with JIP Selective Fire. If I hit the button to select a different mode the game freezes. JIP Weapon Overheating is working great so far. I definitely will included it as I rebuild the beginning UI section. I'm switching to a new system that will do away with the NMM export. I'm using the FOMM updated version and running it with MO, then any mod that gets installed with FOMM just goes to the overwrite folder and you can make it a mod folder from there. I can't find the post of whoever told me about this method, I believe it was phazer, but hey deserve a big shoutout for turning me onto this method. Edit: NVM it wasn't phazer, it was GDSFan and Ivanish. Either way the method works pretty good and FOMM is only needed for like 4 or five mods and you can go in and install new UI stuff and rerun UHUD without doing the whole NMM import section over again. -

No, I was just pairing it with the Advanced Recon Night Vision mod so users had options about navigating the dark. Neither is dependent upon the other, but for reason I can't get the launcher to start with Flashlight NVSE. Like it doesn't even get to the Bethesda screen, shows a loading bar for half a second then nothing. -

I didn't merge it since it is not an ADAM mod. Flashlight NVSE is a very popular mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/39968/? TY, I'm looking this stuff over right now. I still can't get the Advanced Recon mods to work without Flashlight NVSE, but I think I've narrowed it down to the install order or the fomods not being updated for the latest version of the installers from FOMM or NMM. -

Yep it is the flashlight nvse plugin. I thought that would be a good mod to combine with the advanced recon mods. I'll have to troubleshoot it to see what is up with the mod. It might be out of date for the current nvse. My goal was to probably add in the advanced recon night vision and flashlight nvse, then maybe to with the darker nights plugin from Nevada Skies. The nights are pretty dark already, but with all the extra gear it could be even darker, eventhough that would probably be much more dark than the real world. I tend to stay away from realism, since it is the greatest enemy of fun, but sometimes you have to think that staring at black screen is not a good idea.
