  1. Not sure where you heard about executables, we don't have any plans to include mods with STEP since it'd require additional version management and getting permission from all the mod authors.  Packs are going to be extensions of STEP (installed in the same manner) that alter aspects of the game not strictly covered under the STEP Mantra of maintaining a Vanilla game, such as Hardcore/Realism, Combat, Perk Overhauls, Quests, etc.  At the moment nothing's set in stone and we haven't even begun to sort through potential additions for v2.3.  When we do start, we'll likely create sub-forums for individual pack discussion.  If you're looking for the "headlines" I'd pay attention to the Announcement and Releases threads, although I can't help but invite you to join our community and help contribute to the project by discussing and testing mods. Hope this answers your question and welcome to the STEP forums :D
  2. It should essentially work, although there are a few bugs we're addressing. Â I'd suggest you follow the changes listed in the OP here, in particular the replacement of Colored Map Markers with NACMIM as that seems to be the only mod "broken" by the update.
  3. Yeah, pretty much. Â That ensures everything respawns properly and all the cells are repopulated. Â I'd suggest using this mod so you can rest more than a day at a time.
  4. Did you go through the entire list trying to disable a few mods at a time? Whenever this happens to me I usually have multiple ESPs from the same mod enabled on accident as JudgementJay mentioned.
  5. That's weird, Does TGF have any files besides the ESP? Â If so, you might have overwritten those files with another mod thus breaking TGF. Not sure if you want to go through the installation again, but I can't recommend not using NMM enough. Â Using MO can take a bit of effort to get used to, but it's much more powerful and keeps your mods separate and organized so you'll never have to worry about overwrites or updating a mod and breaking something else. Â
  6. Unfortunately Bethesda has changed how the file permissions are handled, but they've only completed half of the transition, so Skyrim Unplugged is a bit useless at the moment. Â This doesn't prevent you from using STEP, it just means that should they launch Skyrim v1.9 there's no way to prevent Steam from pushing it on you, thus potentially breaking mods. Â I'd say continue with STEP, just make sure to create a clean, Vanilla backup/archive just in case things get broke.
  7. Unchecking a mod doesn't uninstall anything, it simply deactivates all the files in that mod. Â I'm not sure if you're familiar with the folder structure, but if you go to "PathToMO/ModOrganizer/mods" you'll see a folder for each mod you have installed. Â When you uncheck the mod in the left panel the files in that folder are simply not active when you launch the game.
  8. No need to cry o.0 A crash at startup usually means there's an ESP conflict somewhere. I'd suggest you go through and uncheck a few at a time until it works and boil down the problem child from there. As rpsgc suggested, start with any mods you may have added or updated first; these things don't (often) happen for no reason.
  9. Locking this thread, thanks rpsgc.
  10. I'm not sure Skyrim knows or cares about your VRAM, it'll just use what's there (if Skyrim itself is what handles that in the first place). Â What card do you have? Â I might not upgrade for a while, but when I do it's going to be a beast :DGTX 560 Ti. I've spent hours setting everything up. It's made by a company called Gigabit, the stock VRAM was 2048MB. Very easy card to OC as well. Hell, I could push the VRAM even higher if I had better cooling. If I could have "relations" with it, I totally would. Speaking of OC'ing. I have only barely touched my CPU and my RAM is at stock settings. I could probably make this beast last another year if I needed to (had it since May 2010, minus the graphics card which was an upgrade I got ~December 2011). But nah, I intend to build a new computer sometime next year, hopefully by the 3-year mark of this one's life. Might be getting one of my old buddies to install water cooling. He's been at that game/business for nearly a decade now, so... yeaah. O_O I might be interested in buying that card off you, depending on when I can upgrade, although I can't seem to find any mention of a 4GB 560 Ti. Â There are reports of my 6870 overclocking very well (1050+Mhz core) which is part of the reason I chose it, but ASUS's software is absolute **** and I can't make any of the settings stick in Afterburner so I'm stuck with the stock 915Mhz clock. I finally got a Hyper 212 Evo for my 2500k (which is rocking btw), although I haven't been able to test it with Skyrim. Â Since Newegg's Black Friday deals sold out so damn fast I'm out of luck on an SSD, so I'll probably reformat here sooner or later. I've looked into water cooling as a side project, and it doesn't seem like that much of a hassle to set up, I've just never had the cash laying around to try it out on a new rig.

  12. Damn! Any better ideas than replacing one of the letters with a clip art turkey? Â Anyways, happy Turkey Day everyone! (Totally moving this thread to General chat to spread the love)
  13. Music's really cool even by itself, I can definitely see how this would make wandering around the forests and mountains quite a different experience, at least until you're attacked by a pack of wolves.
  14. Ah, so those screenshots weren't deceptive. Â If my vote matters at all, please do continue, your work is awesome.
  15. You'll either want to look at DDSopt (just read the OP and links therein, the guide's a little outdated) or Optimizer Textures.  Both go through the DDS (texture) files and compress them so they're smaller in size, saving you up a couple hundred MB of VRAM and possibly reducing load times/stuttering as the files take less time to load.  The only trade-off is possible compression artifacts if you really want to bring the size down, but since you'll have at least 2GB of VRAM, using the default settings on either program won't produce any noticeable visual difference.  DDSopt can be a little more difficult to use, but often gives better results.  You can also have the program cut them down to a maximum resolution (say 2k) which means all those 4k textures will look just as good while not taking up several dozen MB each. Somewhat older comparison tests can be seen here.
  16. Hey Starac, we're debating the bedroll textures for v2.2.0b (here) and as you can see, we're clashing over the fact that while SRO provides a better resolution and detail it isn't as worn as you'd expect a bedroll to be in Skyrim. Â Is there any chance you could make a "dirty" version, either standalone or as part of your next update? Â Thanks and keep up the great work.
  17. As Korentin said, it's easy to pass the 2GB mark with all the 2-4k textures, and then uGrids=7 will add a few hundred more megabytes, but I highly doubt you'd push past 3GB.  If the price difference isn't too much (or it's not an issue) then I say go for it, but something tells me there won't be a drastic change in how good the game looks between what you can get out of either (assuming uGrids is the same). On a separate note; anyone have a decent 2GB card they're looking to sell? :D
  18. The full STEP mod list can be found on our Skyrim Nexus page as a download (link on the top navbar). Â With an AMD 6870 1GB playing on 1080 with "Baseline" STEP and a few personal mods I was getting a solid 45+ FPS almost everywhere, although I haven't reformatted in a while so my system's kind of cluttered. I wish I had known VRAM had such a huge impact when I bought my card, you're lucky you get to decide between those :P I really can't imagine 4GB being useful beyond some massive overhead. Â I doubt you could even push 3GB with everything STEP has to offer and uGrids=7 and if you push uGrids higher you'll start hitting CTDs and other nonsense.
  19. What's the FPS impact like?
  20. No problem, I'll go ahead and lock this one. Other thread for reference.
  21. Sucks that they changed it, I wonder what kind of ads we'd get anyways (not that I have to deal with them; yay Adblock!). Â The current search tool is a little lacking, if it's not too much trouble to set up (at least for trial purposes at the moment) it might be worth seeing if Google can do better.
  22. Yeah, it really is pretty terrible. Â I don't know why every website doesn't just embed a custom Google search, they even let you skin the results to match your site and remove ads/Google logos. (So says I while we have the forum's default search tool :P)
  23. Not sure if it still works, but here's what Google turned up:Â https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/18938/
