  1. Possibly but I can't check that. I did do an update to your profile and made sure your signature wasn't disabled (it's not) but doesn't seem to have did anything. Admin will have to address it.
  2. I run Windows 8 x64 as well.
  3. In my tests the lighting/weather mods didn't effect framerates are all. However, I did find some incompatibilities with ENB/lighting mod combinations. I do remember that Seasons did not play well with CoT without tweaking. CoT made the day lighting look muted as though the normal skylighting had been cut in half.
  4. I still have mine set up like Cestral's choices with Real Mushroom's addon textures instead of TreesHD. I like them better and the wood texture was that noticeable to me while gaming because I'm stopping to pick the mushrooms; not stare at the wood grain on the broken aspens. Plus, I like consistency.
  5. Yes, the video card is ancient in computer years -- at a whopping year and a half old, lol. The GPU drivers are quite new though; 306 series, as I stated -- I updated a couple of months ago. nVidia's drivers have been so buggy recently that I don't update the second new ones come out; they seem to need time to work out the kinks. I like to keep my computer as stable as possible, so I prefer not to update and then rollback repeatedly. As for your confusion, not sure what to tell you. I stated vanilla Skyrim -- not Step -- which maybe it was my assuption that folks would certainly have their GPU settings on. At any rate I did describe in detail what my set up was in my first post regarding launcher & GPU settings, etc. As for the AO, I am still surprised that my system takes that much of a hit. I can't seem to use SSAO or DOF in ENB's either -- I drop down to 10-15 fps, when I try & GPU-Z shows my 1.5 GB of vRAM at 99% in those situations. I can run SoS fairly well on extreme performance mode -- 30-40 fps there, with an unmodded game. So, if I want to keep it, I might need to make some sacrifices as I start adding mods. ENB just makes the game so darn gorgeous. Sigh. AO is easily the most performance heavy setting for Skyrim because it has to do with shadows and we all know that Skyrim's handling of shadows is terrible...but what can you say for a game that was built on Windows XP era technology. Long story short, the performance hit with AO is partly determined by your shadow settings. If you have really high shadow settings (and you do), then you're going to get a harder performance hit. Why? Because AO adds a TON more shadows and shading to the game to be rendered. So adjusting your shadow settings with AO on will help to improve performance. You'll have to find the right balance between quality and performance that works for you personally. BTW, depending on what ENB you're planning on using you can turn your AA settings off. Anything past v0.119, no longer has support for hardware AA. Though it's been rumored that Boris is working on making it available again.
  6. I encourage everyone that is having this problem to enable Papyrus Logging. This why we can start making some sense of the issue. Thanks! I've enabled it myself, but haven't had a freeze since.
  7. I'm excited about this and it sort of makes me want to use TPC again...but testing 2.2.1 comes first.
  8. Has the back-end been created for the tickets yet? Last I heard S4N, only had the form created.
  9. You've gone more into depth than the point I was attempting to make. I was only stating how SSDs don't hold a lot of the market because the technology is new for consumers, thus still fairly expensive when compared price-per-GB to HDDs. I was just waiting for someone to state that the tech isn't new. It's been around for a good while, yes, but in consumer PCs it has not. HDDs are still the most ecomonical choice for price vs storage size when anyone is on a budget and that is the point I was attempting to make. However, I'm not saying that SSDs aren't good. They're amazing and I want one myself, but the cost won't be coming down significantly for a while and cost is usually an issue for most. If you're just going for pure performance then by all means please do go with SSDs! You'd be ill-informed not to. But if you need space over speed, go with HDDs. However, most people are mixing the two. I can spend X amount of money for a 128GB SSD or I have spend that same amount of money and get a 1TB HDD. When you're going to be doing a lot of video/photo/animation work, you're going to need the space.
  10. No problem Vurt and thanks Z! I stopped using Diverse Trees due to performance and weird lighting (sort of painted looking) on the new trees with ENB: They look good up close.
  11. I've disabled the weather mods to confirm they weren't the cause. I haven't used that in the past because it's not compatible with RCRN. I'll play around with the settings in a bit. Forums finally seem to be getting some action! If the tweaking does work then I'll try out that mod.
  12. This is the result of an alpha mask I think. It may or may not be an issue in game. Looks like a shared texture.I didn't notice this in-game. I was actually in search of the moss texture that is on the side of the Whiterun outer walls (never did find it) and ran across those couple textures that I posted.DDSopt seems to remove redundant texture information at each mip level. If you look at many alpha maps, you will find that the black portion will overlap with the crappy-looking edges in the primary and the new black parts of the converted version will mask that stuff. By removing the additional unnecessary texture information in the primary channel, DDSopt may be enabling more efficient rendering in game (but I am not sure about that!) Yeah...DDSopt is still Greek to me.
  13. It is a fog-related variable under Environment. Not in front of my INI at present, so I can't be more specific. maybe FogStartFadeDistance or something? Here are the setting under Environment for fog: I've asked MTichenor and he though it might have something to do with volumetric fog but wasn't positive either. If you're meaning the game INIs, I have no fog related settings in my game INIs.

  15. I as usual with hardware, would have to disagree with some points. You're a bit of an extremist because I think the system is perfectly fine. Radeon 7970 is probably the fastest on the market but having using both in the past, through my personal experience, NVIDIA has always been more reliable and a better quality product for me. NVIDIA drivers have also been better than AMD drivers in my experience. Others may have had different experiences. SSDs, though they've been out a while, are still a fair young technology on the mainstream market and is still very expensive compared to HDDs. At the current growth rate, SSDs aren't expected to own the market for several more years. I've read many reviews, one being Tom's Hardware, stating that SSDs should own ~40% of the market by 2016. That's not even half and that's still several years away. HDDs are still going to be around for a long time. But with that said, yes, the performance over HDDs is great. I'll agree that 16GB of system RAM is excessive for anyone unless they're running some type of server that needs that RAM (encoding/processing servers). 8GB is the most that anyone should install. (that common sense remark was rude, Besidilo) The processor though an extreme choice can be considered future proof to a degree. It'll could last you 2-3 years at least. I disagree and say there is such a thing as future proofing a desktop, because I've done it myself. Future proof meaning "upgradability" for the future. It's main dependent is the choice of motherboard. If you choose the right motherboard you'll be able to upgrade components from time to time and the system could last your four or five years. New standards don't pop out very often so if your motherboard supports the latest standards you'll be future proof and able to upgrade for several years to come.
  16. Hey Vurt! What is the performance hit on the new updated SFO 1.76? I can't afford much more (or anymore) FPS loss.
  17. He should report back today with a successfully installed ENB, IF he followed my directions. If he didn't, then I'm done. Can't help someone that won't do what you say to correct the problem.
  18. I realized that AFTER I pasted it, I took your suggestion and bumped it up to 4000000000 and gave it a test run, no go. 20 Minutes, computer was at 5.29 Gigs used and it froze, I turned off Skyrim and let my computer settle and my computer idles at 2.84 Gigs, (Don't ask, I mean unless it's relevant.), That's approximately Skyrim using 2.45 Gigs at the time it froze. So I suppose that's out of the question now, but that doesn't make me happy. Your idle is nearly double mine... maybe you should consider shutting some things down whenever you're on the game and see how it goes. You could also try out ATTK.
  19. And another... From Skyrim - Textures.bsa (used as loose files) It's no wonder those things look so noisy in-game. I'm not using the high res DLC so I don't know if those are replaced or not. EDIT: And another... From Skyrim - Textures.bsa (used as loose files)
  20. Found another one! wrplasterdecals.dds in Skyrim HD - Towns
  21. Anyone know how to get rid of the hazy effect in ENB? I've been playing with a lot of settings with no success. I know it's not bloom because it's present regardless if bloom is enabled or disabled. Full Size Image
  22. All new saves here.
  23. That is problem #1. Delete all your ENB files from your Skyrim directory.Go here: Nexus - SkyRealism and download that.Copy the files from the Cinematic folder into your Skyrim directory.Go here: ENBSeries v.139 and download that.Copy the d3d9.dll file from the Wrapper directory (not the Injector directory) into your Skyrim directory and do nothing else. You're directory should look exactly like mine now.Launch the game and be amazed because you're now properly running an ENB!You can search Nexus to find the ENB preset that you like the best. There are a TON of them. The only file you'll ever need from ENBSeries is the d3d9.dll file. EDIT: There are other ways to get the ENB running but this is the simplest and quickest.
