Hey Unreal! Nice to see you! We get this issue pop up from time to time, but this is the first one that has said "STEP can do this".

SKYRIMLE Better Skill and Quest Books Names
TechAngel85 replied to TechAngel85's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Has been updated to work with USKP 1.2.7 -
Better Skill and Quest Book Names by kevkas Already included in STEP, but no mod page existed so here it is.

Please feel free to update it or anything else where it is obvious ;) I've been leaving this guide to Kelmych so it he doesn't get it to by the time I do, I'll do it.

DROPPED Unofficial Skyrim Patch (by Unofficial Patch Project Team)
TechAngel85 replied to frihyland's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
New version is out (1.2.7). It includes a ton of fixes, but none that I seen that would affect STEP. Download and carry on! :) -
The INI needs to moved on the Guide to somewhere before the users start with the DDSopt instructions; not at the end of the guide after they've already been processing textures. :P (or at least mention somewhere before the instructions to grab it before processing)

I love it when we run across these images from new comers. I know where these came from and the author clearly states that the game is not playable in some of those shots and that you WILL NOT be able to get the same results as him; at least not until he decides to release a guide. As far as STEP and GEMS, he only recommends them. He in no way says that you'll get the same results using STEP. Now if you want to be put on the right path, he includes a small list of mods on his page (linked aboved), but again, states that you will not get the same results. For example, the grass he's using is a custom grass he made himself and hasn't released. He's on a highly overclocked system with maxed out Ultra settings and is only getting between 5-30 FPS at times (5-20 FPS is not playable; 20-30 might be playable depending on the VRAM). He is also using a customized ENB setting but say you can use Opethfeld6 ENB. Here's just a few of the author's quotes: So, you see...unless you figure out how he did it yourself, there's no way to match his screenshots and some of the things he uses aren't even available to you. What you're seeing in the STEP install is as good as it's going to get using only STEP.

That information is too vague. My game looks great! You'll have to provide some screenshots, as Torminater pointed out. Use FRAPS to do this.

Terrain Textures Problems [AF Misconfigured]
TechAngel85 replied to zeyuri's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Use only one AF source. Either from the Launcher, the ENB, or the NVIDIA settings. Choose one and turn the others off. The performance and quality is the same for all versions. What happens if you use 16x AF from different sources at the same time (Launcher, Nvidia settings, Nvidia Insteactor)? To be honest, I haven't tested it. But any guide I've ever read has said the same. "If you use driver AF, then turn off the Launcher AF. Blah blah blah". I assume that it could cause one or all of these things: Double/triple processing of textures which would cause unnecessary performance lossUnknown errors in texture processing (like the result in the OP)Grainy looking textures from over-processingCancellation of the AF effectsEtc etc... -
Help me to understand the cause of stutter
TechAngel85 replied to Ggfd3FzZuyabrmSsmjun's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Why would it be swapping texture data to and from system ram if it isn't yet fully utilizing the 1GB vram I have?My card runs at good temps (about 55C). My entire PC is very well ventilated. I also have a power supply far greater than what my PC requires (not sure if you meant lacking in power supply or actually voltage tweaking my gpu when you said insufficient power. My build: i5 2500k @ 4.5Ghz Asus p8p67 8GB 1600mhz cl9 radeon HD 6850 @ 870mhz core, 1150mhz mem corsair hx750 power supply That just about covers it. My cpu overclock was done at the time of build, the gpu overclock was about a month ago and has been stable, but is there a chance the gpu overclock could be causing the issue? I left it on stock voltages when I overclocked it. To answer your question in short I am using the HDDLC Optimized rather than the full HD texture pack. I am trying to run baseline step 2.2.1 (I know it's still a work in progress but it was decided in another thread that I was better off trying to run that than the outdated 2.2.0a) https://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:2.2.1 I am running all baseline options up till the end of Clothing & Equipment. Animations & Effects section and on I haven't downloaded yet I just don't understand why it is stuttering if everything is seemingly not hitting it's limits yet. I wanted to find out if there were a better explanation before I started disabling mods. You shouldn't be having swapping out until your VRAM is full. The overclock could be causing the issue, but I couldn't be sure. It could also be caused by your GPU being pushed too far (running to high resolution, too high of settings, etc) and your card is struggling to keep up. Basically at this point in the game it's going to be trial and error and troubleshooting for everyone (myself and admins included). We've been discussing the performance of STEP 2.2.1 in another thread and we're also experiencing stuttering. DDSopting all of the textures has helped but not entirely eliminated it. Thanks for bringing this up. I was doing this in the last STEP version with no stuttering at all. I'll have to test doing this again to see if I get any improvement. Since I'm running on my ASUS G7 laptop I'm running the game at lower resolutions than everyone else so I can get away with running lower resolution textures as well without seeing too much of a visual impact. -
Terrain Textures Problems [AF Misconfigured]
TechAngel85 replied to zeyuri's question in General Skyrim LE Support
This would be a good thing to do for all troubleshooting threads. Eventually these threads can be added into a troubleshooting guide on the wiki. Just another thing for a forum moderator to do once the mods are picked and set up. -
STEP isn't recommending a single ENB so it probably shouldn't be on the guide, but can definitely be added to the ENB Guide. EDIT: Added.

SKYRIMLE Realistic Lighting Overhaul (by The Realistic Lighting Team)
TechAngel85 replied to Kelmych's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I've very curious as to how well it plays with ENBs. 2.2.1 is more important to test right now, but will be overhauling my Lighting Guide once STEP 2.2.1 is officially released. -
ACCEPTED Skyrim particle patch for ENB (by Mindflux)
TechAngel85 replied to OniNoSeishin's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
This is already on the ENB Guide. -
I was going to say 150 € for one card so I say your prices sound reasonable to me.

Terrain Textures Problems [AF Misconfigured]
TechAngel85 replied to zeyuri's question in General Skyrim LE Support
You could do the testing for non-ENB users but it's pointless for ENB users because there is no hardware AA after v.119. So for ENB users, you either use the ENB AA or none at all. :(SMAA still works I believe. True. FXAA and SMAA injectors still work...forgot about that. EDIT: We've hijacked the poor guys thread but he hasn't reported back if any of our suggestions have worked or not....so I'm assuming they did. -

Just got second GTX 560 Ti - SLI Setup Q's
TechAngel85 replied to Holymartyr's question in General Skyrim LE Support
No need for benchmarks. It'll be the same. The 690 is simply a card with two 680 GPUs onboard, so if one is disabled this it's going to be the same or a little less. Sometime they underclock the GPUs for stability when they're combined like they are on the 690. EDIT: Confirmed... The GPU clocks on the 690 are underclocked by ~100MHz -
I don't know a lot about WB so I'll leave this up to you, Z. I don't think the Notice on the Mod Management tab is needed anymore and the link in the INI Tweaks on that tab no longer works.
-
For the majority of them, you don't have to...they install just fine. We've included some BCFs on the wiki Guide for some of the complex mods that need the "re-arranging". There may be like 2% of the total mods that will need to be manually re-arranged. You can also choose not to install the readme files in WB or delete them afterwards because WB stores them in a "Docs" folder in your Skryim Directory so they shouldn't be an issue. I don't know of any way to convert really. The only thing I can think of is... Your mods files should be stored on your hard drive in archive form so just copy them all to the Bash Installers folder for WB. WB should check to see if the mod is installed and will report whatever it files in it's own color code. I don't any reason why that process wouldn't work. Just don't copy your archived mods into the Skyrim folder. Make sure you WB is installed correctly first though.

First off, a warning from the new 2.2.1 Guide: What you are asking about is exactly why we stated this warning. You need more control over your mods for STEP than NMM allows/controls. The easiest answer to your question is to use Wrye Bash. You can set the installation order of the mods; thus not having to worry about installation order once this is set up. Moving mods around in your installation order is also as simple as clicking and dragging the mod up or down in the list. WB also shows you the conflicts with other mods. WB is the answer to all of your questions. You can also install your non-STEP mods anywhere in the order. It's easiest to put them in the STEP sections that have already be set up. I have non-STEP mods scattered all throughout my STEP installation order.

Terrain Textures Problems [AF Misconfigured]
TechAngel85 replied to zeyuri's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Okay...so I did those comparisons today. ENB AF Comparisons. There is practically no difference between the options. -
The entire textures/effects/ and textures/effect/gradient/ folders need to be looked at. I've actually just when ahead and replaced the /gradients/ folder with the unoptimized textures because so many of them are causing issues. :P

Use only one AF source. Either from the Launcher, the ENB, or the NVIDIA settings. Choose one and turn the others off. The performance and quality is the same for all versions. ENB AF Comparisons. The reason I asked about AA is because if you are using any ENBSeries version past v.119, then turn AA off in the Launcher (which I see it is off in your INI) and in the NVIDIA settings. Hardware AA doesn't work past v.119. You'll have to turn it on in the ENB (see link above for comparisons) or use SMAA. It would be nice if you could throw in the in-game AF comparison in there. I'm assuming your talking about the laucher's AF? I can do that. I can do this as well. Won't be today most likely but by tomorrow. -
I had been doing this as well but I thought I'd give the BCFs a go since it's for testing.
