ACCEPTED Static Mesh Improvement Mod - SMIM (by Brumbek)
TechAngel85 replied to z929669's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Latest update is out which carries over some changes from USKP 2.0: This mod is becoming a rather large download... -
A lot of time and research was spend on LODs for 2.2.7. The result of that research is present in the current Guide.
-
Thanks. I've updated the instructions for the mod.
-
Right. There is a torrent available that is already very well optimized.
-
It depends on the mod. Some are already optimized, some benefit nothing from optimizing and still others have issues when optimized. Personally, none of my mods are optimized except for SRO.
-
1) Sound archives should not be optimized with BSAopt. It causes some funky issues. So you should restore your VoicesExtra to vanilla. 2) Texture archives can be optimized using DDSopt. 3) MO uses virtualization; therefore, you will not see any changes in the actual Data directory. If they're activated in MO, they'll be active in your game. 4) You can remove and replace the HRDLC files and ESPs. 5) If you unpacked and repacked the addon DLCs using DDSopt, then you can replace the BSAs with your optimized ones; however, leave the ESMs alone. Those are needed for the DLCs to work.

This thread is for the wiki guide and only discussions about that guide should take place here. The thread in Anthology is for Mod Organizer itself. All discussion about MO specifically should take place there. The thread in Troubleshooting is for issues and troubleshooting. All discussion about issues and problems with MO should take place there. These three separations help us to keep everything straight and separated instead of having one massive thread that is impossible to find anything in. Moderators should move posts around accordingly and as necessary using the outline I just mentioned. Furthermore, any important/useful information should be added to the wiki guide. Anyone can edit and contribute to the wiki. Frankly, STEP has become so massive that it's impossible for the Admin and Senior Staff to keep up with everything. So we heavily rely upon the other staff to be doing their share.

ACCEPTED Audio Overhaul for Skyrim (by David Jegutidse)
TechAngel85 replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
This mod is still a work in progress. The author is still refining the mod, but it is usable in its current state. -
Updated Changelog. Nitpick is no longer needed for Mod Organizer users and it is recommended these users unintall this mod. MO includes the Nitpick fixes within the program.

DROPPED Soul Gems Differ - Full and Empty (by Utopolyst)

Both 1.4 and 1.3 have the same issue. This is the vanilla texture from my DDSoptimzed vanilla textures... so I don't think it's a DDSopt issue. At least not with the latest version. -

I was going through and taking some interior shots for the Nexus page when I ran across a couple black textures from this mod: This is from Soul Gems Differ. The texture is soulgemholder.dds which looks like this when loaded in photoshop: I did not DDSopt these textures. Simply using the mod as downloaded. -
Time is my enemy. I could learn all I need to know if I only had the time. lol Edit as I don't want to clutter the thread. I wish the day had another 6-8 hours so I can commit more time to my hobbies! We're all in the same boat it seems... -rootsrat- Using my post as a means to reply... you moderators. Haha! It's all good. :P -tech- Best of luck with your health.

I'll be keeping an eye on this one too. It's one of those overhauls that needed to be done very badly and it looks like this one was put together correctly rather than just being some random fixes and edits. The author put some serious thought into the mod. Next, an all-in-one magic overhaul!? lol Seriously, though, I would love to put this into my game but I'm in the same boat as you, Sairven, when it comes to TES5Edit. I've completed SR with it once and seen what it can do; however, knowing what I'm doing and just following directions are two different things entirely! Unfortunately, I don't see myself having the time to actually learn TES5Edit to that extent unless it's something that can easily be picked up (and "easily" is subjective to the user...I'm quite tech savvy tho). EDIT: Actually...why has no one written a TES5Edit guide for STEP? (ー_ー)!!

ACCEPTED Audio Overhaul for Skyrim (by David Jegutidse)
TechAngel85 replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
The reverb for interiors is way off in the video. Sounds as if they're in an empty metal room when they're actually in a full wooden room. I like the idea of this mod; however, I think it has a bit to go before being really good and not just "good". I do hope the author makes it a modular install using a FOMOD so the good parts can be used and the rest some be skipped (like the reverb for interiors). This mod will also conflict a several mods in STEP; however, most would be simple overwrites. SOS would be my main concern in compatibility. -
My INIs are vanilla while testing...as they should be, for anyone that is testing with non-vanilla INIs. The INI tweaks included in the Guide are okay. All else should be vanilla when testing (unless the mod being testing instructs specific INI edits). But to answer your question: SkyrimPrefs (everything is vanilla default...I have no [WATER] section in this INI) Skyrim [WATER] bReflectLODObjects=1 bReflectLODLand=1 bReflectSky=1 bReflectLODTrees=1
-
Actually, the value corresponds to 128 KB, and I have not a clue about what it does or does not do (and I am fairly certain that nobody other than the programmers really do).It would take some research to find out the answers to all those questions. The value used to be doubled; however, many users were reporting issues with that value. After some testing the current value seemed to be a happy medium with no issues reported from it being too high or too low.

Good to know! -
Yes, doing a complete compare of your mod would be tedious; however, just replacing the calm water version that is in the video with a rougher version wouldn't be too hard. I love some things of both mods but combining them isn't something up my alley. If someone else wished to get permission from Isoku and do that work, then I would add the compares into a video for a final comparison. I'm getting the hang Adobe Premiere Pro. The last video only took ~3hrs to put together (quicker if I'd worked on it straight through); instead of an entire day like the first video did. For now and for ease of use, I'll have to stick to a single mod and that's RW2 for me because of the additional corrections/edits that create more realism. Nothing against WATER, I still love it too.

Did you happen to you DDSopt on any of these textures? Not too long ago we found out that DDSopt did some bad things to the snow textures (even the vanilla snow textures). Restoring this files from the non-DDSopted textures corrected the issue. -

Could be shadow stripping. What is your iBlurShadowMask your INI set to?
