  1. That's the only version that would be added to STEP so it's the only version that matters. I'm voting this be dropped from Testing.
  2. I don't really understand why this is even in testing. The mod without ENB with the NON-ENB patch simply looks horrible! Turning on ENB, it looks better but these textures are obviously not for STEP. They are a very far cry await from vanilla and have weird "pits" all over the place (I assume to enhance the parallax). What is up with all the pit glory? It's everywhere from the walls to the stones to the ground. It looks like it rained acid and ate away at the stone or something... Needless to say, this mod is not for STEP. Honestly, none of the VL mods should be considered for STEP because, afaik, they all require parallax and the NON-ENB versions look terrible.
  3. Not yet. VL is next on my list.
  4. Okay, I've checked this out in-game and my opinion of it hasn't change. Cabal overuses the browns and it makes the exploration boring. (Where exactly is all this brownish rock found in the rest of Skyrim to build structures from brown rock? All the rest of the rock in Skyrim is grey.) SRO isn't great, but it's better than this. Cabal leaned towards using smaller stones EVERYWHERE! This is a far cry from vanilla and SRO which has many massive stones in the fort structures. One example is below where in vanilla and SRO the stone is one entire piece which makes sense considering it would be a supporting beam for the rest of the structure. Cabal eliminates this by replacing it is a vertical mortared structure that would NOT support the massive weight of the structure. That and it simply looks bad! Stone support beam in question: This mod is just generally boring and the exterior optional makes is worse than the mod by itself. It also dievates from the design of the rest of the stone structures in Skyrim, making them out-of-place, imo. I do not consider this an improvement on vanilla. It's a stylistic change from color of brick to brick design. I'm of the opinion that SRO is better, holds truer for realistic structure design and holds truer for Skyrim aesthetics, look and feel.
  5. Easy then...Cabal's. EDIT: Really wish he'd update the Book because if we start adding in peaces then when he does update the Book, we'd end up dropping a bunch of mods mid-release due to the Book updating.
  6. The two look like different materials so I suppose, for me, it would be what the shield is suppose to be made out of.
  7. Some of Cabal's texture are the same in regards to the noise. I recall that I nearly started a fight when I said that about his cave ground textures, but it made him redo them and they looked much better. LOL!
  8. Maybe but would would still only cover the exteriors. The interiors would still be...boring.
  9. That's good. I'm assuming this can be run inside of MO so that it can see the mods that are installed in MO? Please continue work on your masterpiece... I shall patiently await its completion.
  10. Sheson said no in a previous post I think. Anything that can replace SDO and not be as performance hungry is a keeper in my book.
  11. Woot! This is going to be sweet!
  12. Anyone other than me notice that Amb is a bit boring? With STEP you get varying colors and depth in the textures making the exploration an enjoyment. With Amb you get lots of brown...in various shades. The exploration loses life and becomes a bit of a bore... I mean seriously, take another long at the gallery from that perspective and tell me what you think. It boring to me. lol
  13. My only complaint here is there is no snow on the tent hut that is in the weather. Is it snow-proof? Other than that this look good.
  14. Cabals textures here look too "modern". Some of his choices in the brickwork and woodwork is something you'd expect to find in a more modern setting, not old world like Skyrim. Particularly the smoothness of the brick and tile here and there. Cabal's is nice; however, it's not true to the look and feel of Skyrim, imo.
  15. True, but that is the first time in nearly 2 years on this site that I've had to do a compare like that...just call me stubborn. LOL! Amb door just kills me! Why go through all that trouble of making good textures and then make the door look as if it is made out of plastic? This is still a compare that is going to have to be done in-game. I'll probably get to it Tuesday since that's my day off. EDIT: I still prefer Rustic in those images. Too many of the textures in Amb look too "new". Those ropes and roofs like like they're never seen any weather at all (as if they were hung and laid a few hours ago)...and that door... I didn't like Insanity in any of the shots.
  16. Transparency 1K get my vote. Not a big enough difference to use the 2K unless you are really close to the texture.
  17. The link is just very hard to compare one to one the way it is set up.
  18. Click on the "testing" tag next to the thread title to get a list of all the mods marked for testing.
  19. The Vivid mods tend to be a stylistic preference which I simply don't care for. This mod is no different. It changes a lot from vanilla, the snowy wall is way too noisy and shines too brightly at night in torch light, there are seams and there there where the textures don't "mesh" correctly... it's just not for me.
  20. That is ore though, not ice. ::
  21. Yeah, you almost have to work down the list starting at the top because one move could fix multiple errors.
  22. The above SMIM! I only have one PMOP message left. They were a hassle to sort out and mods ended up in weird places.
