Black screen upon attempting to launch SKSE
TechAngel85 replied to DuckPuns's question in Mod Organizer Support
Yeah, that import feature is crap and even Tannin (MO creator) doesn't recommend it. Gopher just did a video over it and he doesn't recommend it either. Don't use it! ...but it's a little late now. All the ENB files should be removed if you're not using the ENB. DVI port is the slot on the back of the video card that the cord connects into. That shouldn't be any issue though. -
Black screen upon attempting to launch SKSE
TechAngel85 replied to DuckPuns's question in Mod Organizer Support
There is so much going on in here I don't even know where to start! Okay... First, how did you switch from NMM? Did you reinstall everything from scratch or did you try to copy things over or use the NMM import feature of MO? Second, make sure you deleted all of the ENB files. Download RealVision again if you have to in order to check to make sure none of the ENB files/folders in the RealVision mod are left in your Skyrim directory. Make sure you have removed the d3d9.dll and the enbhost.exe files as well. Third, your Skyrim Data folder should be clean as a whistle when using MO; meaning there are only vanilla files present. Delete everything and verify the game cache via Steam, if you have to in order to make sure it's clean. Forth, make sure you have SKSE installed correctly in MO: https://wiki.step-project.com/Skyrim_Script_Extender -
Well, I'm currently stacking EdgeAA from the ENB with SMAA (high preset). TemporalAA is turned off by default in the ENB Profile I'm using. The game is super smooth (as in no jaggies). With this I'm running an average of 40FPS for exteriors. I thought subPixelAA is suppose to be turned off when using SMAA? At least that's what the note says for Vividian ENB. They are the same things SMAA=Subpixel Morphological Antialiasing [ANTIALIASING]EnableEdgeAA=trueEnableTemporalAA=falseEnableSubPixelAA=false // set to false if you use SMAAEnableTransparencyAA=falseAs for the TemporalAA, as I understand it, it mainly softens the scene especially where trees and foliage is involved. Similar to a mix of MSAA and FXAA. I'm not sure I like this because much of the detail is lost from the videos I've seen of its use. ENB's implementation might be different so I might run around with it on for a bit to just try it.

I only know of a couple situations where you can choose either ENB or the video driver. AF is one where you can disable it in one and enable it in the other. I'm not sure how AA and AO works in this situation; however, I've already been in talks with Aiyen about the AA in regards to ENB AA vs SMAA (I currently have both enabled and am unsure if the effects stack or not). I would like more clarity on at least these three as well (AA, AF and AO) when it comes to ENB vs video drivers. Right now there is no solid information that I've been able to dig up on the subject. I'm sure all the info is buried in the ENB Dev Forums; however, I don't have time to sit for hours and dig around. I have too many other projects to worry about like updating this ENB Guide and learning 3ds Max.

Help Improve Pack Creation!
TechAngel85 replied to TechAngel85's topic in Step Skyrim LE Packs (retired)
Looks good! -
True, and I will consider adding a tab to the Inspector Guide for ENB users. It will be short since most of the driver stuff is turned off when using ENB.
-
You'll have to completely replace it for ENB Profiles; however, the profiles will have the ENBoost functionality. There are some good suggestions here: https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:ENB#tab=ENB_Choices

[Visual Bug]Hands Clipping through Arcane Enchanter table top
TechAngel85 replied to tregolani's question in General Skyrim LE Support
My only suggestion is to disable the animation mod you mentioned, rerun FNIS and then check if your issues are gone. If they are, then active the animations mod, rerun FNIS and testing again. If it's back, that mod is causing the issue. If it's not, is was just a back FNIS run. Make sure you are creating a mod from the FNIS output as well, if you're not...that could be your issue. -

Some last clarifications before I start installing Core/Extended
TechAngel85 replied to xxx78's question in General Skyrim LE Support
1) Install all of the Guide (Extended) first. Then copy that profile in MO to make a new one. On the new profile, disable all of the Extended mods. This is the easiest way to get separate Core and Extended profiles. Only a few mods will need to be installed twice (one for each profile) because they have different recommendations between Core and Extended. Consistent Older People comes to mind as one of them. 2) It's normally safe to use the latest version. STEP is rarely dependent on a specific version of any mod. If it is, the version to install will be mentioned on the mod page. Some mod pages also state which mod version the instructions are current for. So if there is a new version of one of these mods out simply use your best judgement for the new options. You can also post in the Bug Report thread that instructions need to be updated and we'll get to it within a few days usually, if not that same day. 3) Yes, the STEP Patches merge ESPs into one. Specific instructions can be found the the STEP Patches Mod Page as well as a list of mods that are included in the patch. If you decide to not install one of the mods that is in the Patch then you can not use the STEP Patch unless you remove the mod dependency using TES5edit. 4) STEP is a guide that isn't meant to be a bible. You don't have to install all of it if you don't want to. Generally, skipping some of the mods is 100% safe. However, be aware if you skip a mod that is later patched by another mod you install in the load order or you might have to adapt the instructions for the mods you skip. For example, Consistent Older People has a patch for Bring Out Your Dead. If you decide to skip BOYD then you'll need a different version of Consistent Older People than want is recommended on the mod page. So it's safe, but you may have to adapt the instructions. For the STEP Patch, check which mods are included on the Patches mod page I linked above. For textures, it's always safe to exchange and use whatever textures you want to use with any issues. -
I have not tested this. I have actually barely touched the head texture as it was already really high quality. The only thing I did was tone down the lip color to a more natural tone so that any color applied in-game during character creation wouldn't be over emphasized. I might be able to lessen the seam a bit but I'm not possible. As I've stated before...although I haven't confirmed it, I think the game applies additional processing or at least different processing to the head over the rest of the body. This makes sense as it is the predominate part you see while playing. The torsos were never designed to be unclothed during gameplay. At any rate, most remaining seams are going to be due to textures not matching up the UV mapping as they should. I still haven't learned enough about this to do anything useful to fix it. Patience though as I have purchased an e-book (3ds Max Bible) to help me learn.

You're probably right. I never even bothered playing that DA2 due to all the negativity surrounding it.

DROPPED Closer Quivers and Longer Arrows (by EvilDeadAsh34)
TechAngel85 replied to stoppingby4now's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
It's the author's mistake. There is a dlc01 folder within the 55 - Explosive Bolts Visualized Compatibility (Closer) folder which, if I'm not mistaken is the one we instruct to install. Since the FOMOD is set up to install the entire folder, the dlc01 folder gets installed with it. -

The optionals are just that. Optional. Player's choice. -
Thanks for the encouragement. I'm literally starting from ground zero here with learning the interface, toolbars, buttons etc. before I move on. Might as well learn to do it the right way.

Yes, just install what is linked on the mod page and nothing else. -
I'll be reading a lot and watching a lot of tutorials before I'm able to edit the meshes properly. I can play around to my hearts desire but when it comes do to it, I don't understand what the heck I'm doing. Haha!

We've checked the load order with STEP extensively and have provided specific instructions where needed. You'll find these instructions on the individual mod pages. Else, if no specific "LOOT Instructions" have been provided, then the load order that LOOT places that mod had been determined to not have any issues. It's not an oversight in the STEP instructions, it's just not needed for most of the mods because the LOOT order is fine.
