  1. fartflower, I can make the changes if you want but you can also make them. The page is open for editing; if you look at the history page you will see multiple users editing the guide.
  2. You don't have to reinstall it. FOMM can also be used and should work fine.
  3. If you look at the notice just above the FOMM - fork mod in the Utilities section of the guide, you'll see that FOMM is no longer needed since MO can now handle almost all of the mods that include fomods. I expect you won't need to use FOMM - fork for any of the mods in the guide. When EssArrBee finishes with the changes in the STEP guide he is currently completing he will be updating this guide and changing the instructions that mentioned using FOMM - fork.
  4. It does sound like an interesting mod; perhaps it should be considered for REGS. There aren't many magic college quests in the vanilla game. I play the game as a magic user and the magic college, even with the additional magic college quest restored in Cutting Room Floor, seems unfinished and a lot less immersive than some other guilds like the Companions, Thieves guild, and Dark Brotherhood. Any good quests that add more immersion to the magic college seem like useful additions to me.
  5. Yes, you should install all the mods that are listed. Portions if the guides are often under construction, but they are intended to be used. You can ignore some of the mods in this section if you don't want them, but there are several of them that are needed by other mods in the guide. The MCM mod, for example, is used by a bunch of mods that are not in the UI section of the guide.
  6. If you have Steam and Fallout 3 in a non-UAC directory, especially if you have configured the directories for Steam, MO, and the game files for full control by all users, there is no need to use "run as an administrator" with MO. In some cases, as Tanin pointed out a while ago, this could actually cause a problem. (I'm not sure if this is an issue for you). If the mods are setup for use with MO then they are not in the actual game Data folder, so they will no be visible to Steam or any executable in the Fallout 3 Goty directory unless the game is launched by MO. Having MO in the background doesn't help, it needs to run the game launcher that is used. Try running an MO profile with only the vanilla files (no additional mods) and see if FO3 can start using the FO3 Launcher or FOSE. In each case look at the logs produced in the Mod Organizer\logs folder. The log is small so you might want to post it here.
  7. The retex is just textures. Plugins from other mods determine whether the RH_Ironsights compatible weapon records are used or ones that aren't. The FO3 Millenia weapon compatible mods that replace the Assault Rifle are not compatible with RH_Ironsights, for example. If you look in FO3Edit at the Assault Rifle, look at the last mod that edits it and see whether the DNAM Flags 1 record has "Don't use 1st person animation" included and whether the MODS - Alternate Textures records have entries; if either is true then the mod is not RH_Ironsights compatible. In my load order Blackened RH + FWE + EVE.esp is the lat mod affecting this rifle so the assault rifle is RH_Ironsights compatible. The Weapons Mod Patch mod author has been working to get a fairly universal solution, as has Ghostwise but these are not ready. There is a lot of interest in the Millenia textures for weapons, but the plugins that came with the FO3 versions are not compatible with either WMK and RH_Ironsights.
  8. I'm still using MO 1.2.18 since it is the last released version, and this is the version in the guide since it is the one I use when testing. I didn't know whether you were using the beta version since I've been waiting a while before recommending it. The guide is fixed, at least until I find find some more mods to add.
  9. A new version of this mod was posted to Nexus which fixes a problem with the normal maps in the previous version.
  10. The main reasons I made FWE Core are for the game parameter management (e.g., for two particularly important settings see the Experience Options and Skill increase options in the "FWE Options" section here.), and the better stat balancing for weapons and armor (which has been adopted by most other mods) that makes it easier to get compatibility across a large set of mods. Most of the rest of FWE (added mods, etc.) can be turned off, but it might not be possible to turn off everything you don't want.
  11. If you don't use FWE you lose all the gameplay parameter management that it provides, even if you don't use other parts of FWE. I don't know of any other FO3 mod that provides this.
  12. If the external fomod installer is used there are two overwrite options; with the current default MO fomod installer these do not appear. CALIBR.esm from FWE is used in the the game, the version from this mod isn't needed.
  13. The fomod script in the mod looks for the plugins for Pipboy 2500 or Pipboy Readius. If neither is present it uses the default map parameters, which are the ones needed for Omnis Pipboy 3000 (which has no plugin). Changing the map height should automatically raise the text boxes; it did for me.
  14. Which version of Mod Organizer are you using, by the way? I made the fixes for the above errors, but the Baileys Crossing Metro Opened title is still small and I don't know why yet. Hmmm ...
  15. I haven't tried it yet. Have you used it, and if so how does it conflict with or complement the other lighting mods in the guide?
  16. When the mods are initially installed "Better High Detail Maps and Icons" determines which Pipboy replacer mod is being used (based on the associated plugin name). The fomod script then selects a number of the values used in "menus\main\map_menu.xml". If you didn't have "Omnis Hi-Res Pip-Boy 3000 - FIXED" installed before installing "Better High Detail Maps and Icons", or if you are using a different Pipboy replacer, you won't be able to use the line numbers in the guide for this change; you will need to determine the correct line numbers to use. If you install or remove a pipboy replacer after installing "Better High Detail Maps and Icons" then the best approach is to remove the "Better High Detail Maps and Icons" mod in MO and then reinstall it. You don't have to use "Omnis Hi-Res Pip-Boy 3000 - FIXED", but if you don't you will have to determine the correct line numbers yourself. There are some posts in the guide forums about this for other Pipboy replacers. I had to pick one for this guide and I chose to use the mod that is also used for the Fallout NV guide. I made some small additions to this mod's details in the guide with the information above.
  17. Was there one patch in particular that caused it? I'm not sure what mods add glowing weapons.
  18. If you use the new version you will need to make sure to preserve your userlist.yaml file and then copy it into the folder that LOOT uses for this. I don't think the userlist.yaml file format has changed between versions 0.6 and 0.7, but I haven't checked.
  19. Interesting. When I run Fallout 3 Goty through MO Steam isn't needed at all, as mentioned in the FO3 guide here. It doesn't properly hook with MO.
  20. If there are resource conflicts (e.g., textures) only one file is loaded into memory. Skyrim can pull files from BSAs that it needs. If there is a conflict between the same file in two BSAs, or even the same file with one in a BSA and one as a loose file Skyrim will still only load one version of the file into memory.
  21. Is the screen excessively bright when the sun isn't present or indoors? What mods are you using that are different than those in the guide? Did you compare this behavior with what happens if only vanilla files are loaded or if only a few mods are present (i.e., the fixes and UI mods). Ideally you should have MO profiles for these two cases in addition to any other profiles you have.
  22. There are ropes in meshes\clutter\stockade . I didn't see them anywhere else in a brief search.
  23. You won't see the full 4Kx4K but you will see textures at up to the max resolution of your display.
