MadWizard25 Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Discussion thread:Skyrim Distant Detail by Kazoomie - DovahsbaneWiki Link This mod mimics a higher uGrids value in the sense that distant details are added such as rock, bridges, and structures. This mod would be great for those who cannot use a higher uGrids value, or for those who think uGrids tweaks are too unstable (with good reason!). After reading through the comments its seems that it has a negligible fps impact, is stable for almost everyone, and works as it should. The downside is that although it mimics a higher uGrids value, it does not emulate it. Certain things such as static waterfalls and tree popping still occur. Once i get s stable STEP setup, i will review this mod in full, but until then, enjoy :) Link: https://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=12866
Vond Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 I'll try it out. maybe it helps with z-fighting? I've been using this for some time and have had z-fighting
TheCompiler Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Discussion thread:Skyrim Distant Detail by Kazoomie - DovahsbaneWiki LinkLooks interesting, i'm going to test that in my game.Dropped in 2.2.9.1. Replaced by DynDoLOD
TheCompiler Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 This should be loaded before WATER.esp in order to avoid messing the water from that mod in some areas. It seems to work just fine even loaded before it. I've already posted on BOSS thread to address that.
TechAngel85 Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 I'm recommending this mod be tested against and possibly replaced by The Skyrim Distance Overhaul. SDO is more recent and covers more areas.
Neovalen Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 The Skyrim Distance Overahaul is by far superior. It is in the new SR:LE. It does come with a performance hit of 5-10 fps though, so be warned. It removes I want to say 80%+ of the rock/building pop-in.
torminater Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 Haha! Great at least I've found sb who likes this mod as well :D
Neovalen Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 Yeah, I know some users posted about massive frame drops for giants campires but honestly running with ENB all effects enabled plus SDO = 40fps+ outdoors for me... and I'm using Morthal Swamps - Complete.
rootsrat Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 SDO looks like a good alternative indeed! @Neo, what is Morthal Swamps - Complete?
torminater Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 It's a option in the installer for SDO. The most demanding one I ought to say!
rootsrat Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 Ah, thanks! I thought it's a standalone mod but I couldn't find it :)
WilliamImm Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 I've also been running around with this active, and boy, it sure is great.
TechAngel85 Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 I'd like to hear from Z, but with the support of the Mods and Admin it seems like an obvious replacement. We'll just need to find the best install option for STEP (assuming there are options).
z929669 Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 I am all for replacement with SDO, but the performance hit may be a bit much ... I think that we should offer both as performance/quality options. This mod uses a plugin, so I assume that SDO does as well. Any reason to believe that there will be compat issues with either?
