I was wondering if there was something behind the sudden wave of Nexus Endorsements that I have seen on my own mods and others near it in the lists in the past couple of days?

Prior to today, I was used to a few endorsements a day - say between 5 and 10 - and was looking at my counter slowly approaching 6950... then when I looked this morning it had blown past 7000 and by the end of the day it was heading to 7100.

I was trying to work out why. Perhaps Book Covers Skyrim had been featured on Reddit somewhere? Maybe Brodual had done a new video?

I do have a theory however...

I notice that in the past day or so there has been a new nag screen on the Nexus saying "Here are some mods you are using but have not Endorsed yet...". Do you think folks are being prompted by this to go through the mods they currently use and actually endorse them?

Can anyone shed some light on this? Why would I have got a fortnight's Endorsements in one day?

I think you've figured it out. I noticed that screen today, and also noticed that several mods I assumed I had endorsed had not been. I think folks are giving you (and others) their props retroactively, I good feature I think. Also, I just adopted your mod after reading about in STEP last week, I think I noticed it due to your latest project, so I'm not a retroactive endorser (for Book Covers) but a new adoptor.

Yeah I got it today as well... had a list going all the way back to 2008 :S Man did not even think they kept those records with all the server transfers etc.

But oh well now everything has been taken care of!

"Use" != "would recommend". Begging for endorsement is not only pathetic seeming, it's also diluting the concept from being one of recommendation to being one of popularity which is then no different from counting the number of times downloaded.

Heh, nag all you want, Robin! I like that Tannin's "OMG ENDORSE PLS" compromise involves a "shut up" button.

Edit: Don't forget to like, comment, subscribe! *cheesy grin*

I've been endorsing a lot of mods lately just to clear the reminder from MO. For some reason it doesn't leave me feeling nagged the way that NMM did.

I never endorse anything on the Nexus web site unless it's very good indeed for some reason.

The feature can be disabled, and you can tell that you got no intention of endorsing... so I kinda fail to see what all the "It is nagging " arguments are about.

Just because person A is good at remembering every single mod they feel like endorsing does not imply that person B is.

I think the way they have implemented it is rather good overall.

I like the feature.  I certainly always try to endorse the mods I like and those that have a more or less permanent place in my plugin list.  However, when I first got this new message, there were a few mods on the list that I've been using for years and hadn't yet endorsed.  I was only too happy to be reminded that these great mods hadn't received my endorsement.  For the other mods (those I had downloaded to test and hadn't bothered keeping), it was easy enough to ignore.  Also, Nexus doesn't allow you to endorse a mod immediately when you download it (a policy I agree with), which for many people makes it easy to forget to go back later to endorse.

Many mod authors spend a lot of time providing support for their mods (not to mention the time it takes to create them in the first place).  I can't really see where this new feature, which only requires one click to ignore, is putting an unreasonable burden on the users who get to freely enjoy all the effort that goes into making and maintaining these mods.

It's always puzzled me how stingy and possessive some people are about their endorsements.  Obviously just because you download and try a mod doesn't mean you should endorse it.  But I feel that if you enjoy a mod enough to keep on using it, then you're getting benefit from someone's freely given work.  Why wouldn't you want acknowledge that in some small way?  It's not like endorsements cost the user anything, and yet some people act as though they're giving you a $100 by endorsing your mod.

It's nice that MO reminds me, that i didn't endorsed a mod, because i don't want to do it without really testing/using the mod.

Testing and experiencing a mod takes quite some time and after that i might have forgotten, that i didn't endorsed it or be lost in the world of Skyrim :woot: .

Just my small thoughts on that despite it's a bit ot .

They should replace endorsements with a bone icon and call them "Doggy Treats". Beg. Never knew you could check how many you have. They should allow you to trade them for prizes - I could do with a new beak warmer. I think I turned notifications off ages ago, but I am a pain for not giving out enough "Scooby Snax".

If only endorsements could be traded for premium nexus access or something lol.

Did you know that as part of the new update Premium Access can now be donated to the mod author? The donor also gets 1/4 of the premium access as well.

I really like the new reminder. I'm usually very good at endorsing mods but a couple sometimes slip through the cracks. If a mod stays in your load order then it should be endorsed IMO. I filter all my searches by most endorsed so I think this is pretty important.
