TechAngel85 Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Heh. Nexus staff may or may not even have noticed that I used part of Auriel's Bow in my mesh... if I hadn't asked them what the site policy was on the matter. I was curious. It backfired. But I guess a preemtive measure like that is better than having the mod taken down later. Besides, I'm too honest for my own good. At any rate, the issue is solved now, unless someone points out a weird visual glitch with my supposedly invisible purple bar even with Dawnguard installed. So, to bring us back to the actual purpose of this thread... do you guys think the non-Dawnguard version is close enough the the vanilla design to be considered for STEP core? The 50% option is almost exactly the same size as the original. I'd recommend 80% for anyone who opts for the DG edition though, the handle just looks weird on the smallest bottle. The same thing happened to me. I've fixed some old mods that are dead and the authors are MIA. I asked if I could upload them giving full credit to the authors of the mods. DarkOne basically told me that it sucks but was against policy unless I had permission. So Nexus rules allows old mods to sit and rot when the authors abandon them rather than allowing someone to take up the mantel until the author returns. Sad thing is, there are probably hundreds of mods on Nexus that do this very thing, but since I asked the staff, I was told no. As for the White Phial being Core, I'm still going to have to say no due to the very large style change; however, if the other staff agree that we make an exception then that is fine.
EssArrBee Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 I always just make the mod then post it in the comments and say that I fixed it and that I'm leaving the link there so they can upload it whenever they want. Got the idea from William, he doesn't even mess around, just posts the fixed plugin in the comments and tells the author to hurry up and upload it. If the author doesn't respond then atleast the rest of the people can get it from the comments and they usually keep bumping the post. I had said the DG version was okay for Extended. I tend to like that version more because it's the author's original vision of what the mod should be. If the handless version ends up in Core then I'm okay with that. I don't necessarily see the big change as a negative because the quality of the vanilla phial is very low where this mod is exceptionally high quality. I kinda see it in the Convenient Horses category, where vanilla horses were just awful and the author made something so much better than vanilla we would be dumb to leave it out. This mod would work nice with a phial effect replacer that ups the power of it so that it worth using in game a lot more. That's what I do for my game.
DoubleYou Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 I actually think I might like the handle-less version better. I've never found much usefulness for bottles to contain handles. If so, I see no reason to not accept it for Core. It is an HD Asset replacement for both the texture and the mesh on the level of SMIM almost, and indeed appears more lore-friendly.
Kelmych Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 I feel the smaller version without a handle can be Core as it's clearly an improvement over vanilla without being too different from vanilla. I prefer the original version with a handle as it's more "special" as befits a unique item, and with a larger bottle I feel the handle is justified to make it easier to use. The smaller one doesn't necessarily need a handle. I feel the original version could be in Extended.
DoubleYou Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 Accepted for 2.2.9. Need to decide either Core or Extended. Seems most are favoring no handle + 50% size for Core. I have heard no votes at all against this mod outright, and everyone seems to like it for Extended at least.
redirishlord Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 (edited) No handle for Core, Handle/DLC optional for extended (and my personal choice). & if EssArrBee has a "phial effect replacer that ups the power of it so that it worth using in game a lot more", maybe it could be submitted to the mod author for possible hosting on the Nexus page under optionals (so I can download a copy)? EssArrBee Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 https://copy.com/IIl1gTfvpB1Z This isn't the final one I made that had multiple effects for each type of phial, but it does buff the effect and make it last longer, like 6 minutes. I think I also got rid of the Restore Health version and replaced it with Fortify Health. Now it will actually help you in a big, long fight at the end of dungeon instead of just lasting for 60 seconds and then you have to go all the way to Windhelm to refill it.
Kelmych Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 There are at least two mods that increases the power of the phial (here and here). The last time I looked at this I felt it made the phial a little too good (particularly the first mod linked), but I plan to look at this again.
kryptopyr Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Hm, I also have a personal mod I made with adjustments to the phial's effects, however the mod that Kelmych linked to that allows any potion to be used to fill the phial looks pretty interesting. It actually makes the phial conform much more closely to the lore that surrounds it. Thanks for the links. :)
EssArrBee Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 I still can't find the other Phial plugin I made with multiple effects, but I did find some other stuff. https://copy.com/411BjZBcamBtThis one changes all the potion weights to go from .15 to .85 I believe. Some stuff might be bigger like the DB stuff. The White Phial plugin I posted is included. It also corrects so meshes, and changes some meshes so the size progression is better. Pretty sure it conflicts with a couple things in CCF and Radiant Potions. https://copy.com/I8eznTRZ9c3vThis is just a shout recharge time adjustment. I don't think it's to overpowered, but the savior of the world should be able to blow some wind a lot faster. I just threw it in for funsies.
DoubleYou Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Since everyone's comments generally concede the 50% no handle version for Core, and handle larger version for Extended, so it shall be.
Simondererste Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 So STEP is going away from vanilla look as long as the other look is better fitting with the lore? If STEP wants to stay to the vanilla look it shouldn't consider this as core mod but it looks awesome for extended.
