EssArrBee
One other thing, Weapons of the New Millenia has been updated, but the CaliberX patch will not be updated till tonight. Do not update until the CaliberX plugin is finished. I suggest downloading it now since it's now 560MB. That is a lot of guns. Like Waco, Texas level of guns. EssArrBee
Does anyone get repairs from the vendors on a regular basis or is it just to expensive to be useful in game? I was thinking of using a mod that decreases the formula. The current formula will charge twice the value of the weapon/armor/clothing if it is completely broken. I'm thinking the formula should be 75%-100% instead of 200%. What do you guys think? Also, added the Animated Fan, Ragdoll Overhaul, and a little PN fix for Med-X. Ragdolls is the only one that doesn't merge to bashed patch. I keep forgetting to look at the gas leak mod, but I'll get around to it. Not bad though, I've added like 6 mods in two days, so that is better than I thought it would be. Not sure if it is a good thing I have a lot going on in my life or not... Too expensive. I just rush to the jurry rigging perk and repair everything that way. A decrease in price would be nice. probably would get merged into the bashed patch so why not. WilliamImm
I'm going to point this out, again: Most of the changes made by me for the FNV BOSS masterlist have NOT been ported over to the LOOT masterlist, including most of the bash tag changes made. I will likely open a ticket for said masterlist to convert the edits over, but you shouldn't be suprised about the missing bash tags when using LOOT. EDIT: Ticket opened. A decrease in price would be nice. probably would get merged into the bashed patch so why not. With Alternative Start you go to History in the computer at the beginning and pick Mechanic. It starts with a Jury Rigging perk. A bit overpowered really, but if you play as much I do, then by the 50th playthrough you want to just repair stuff easily. Do we report FNV changes to the Skyrim thread because there isn't one on the FAllout forums?
Livnthedream
I would recommend the New Bison Steve over Afterschool Special anyway, just because Afterschool Special draws out that beginning part of the game and feels funny where New Bison Steve mostly fits right in (doesn't feel any more weird than how the rest of the Mojave knows who you are before you have done anything) and actually lasts through a large segment of the game as you travel to and fro and explore. It also gives you reason to visit locations in addition to other side quests, so you can do it along the way. Watching it in Gophers lets play of how he intermixed it with New Vegas Bounties 1 was pretty fantastic. Doesn't Bottle That Water also have the issue of bottling clean water from irradiated sources? I believe thats why I bypassed it before. That and it made getting water a little too easy. I actually like the repair being expensive. It makes it an actual choice at lower levels of where to put skill points instead of just dumping all of them into weapon skill of choice+lockpick+speech. Juryrigging doesn't ring a bell as a perk I take often, but then I have also fallen in love with Alternative Repairing. I don't use the repair itself very often, but when I do it also makes a solid cap sink.
oqhansoloqo
I'll test that patch you made for the water bottles mod. BTW - New Vegas Anti-Crash (NVAC) just got updated. EDIT: I just tested it and it works fine. First I started a new game and set mode to hardcore. I grabbed a dirty water bottle from Easy Pete's house, got hurt fighting some geckos, and then ran over to a water pump. I replaced the dirty water, drank the replaced water, and viewed my heath and thirst - health stayed the same but thirst dropped. Then I filled the empty bottle up, drank the refilled bottle, and viewed my health and thirst - health stayed the same but thirst dropped. NOTE: I should add to this that I use LOOT and didn't make the adjustments you mentioned that need to be made for all esps to run in the proper order. One thing I noticed though. I don't know what it is, but ever since I decided to install the assortment of new mods that you added today as well as New Vegas Bounties mod (and Someguy Series) from yesterday and upon starting the new game to test for you - the game is chugging along with crappy FPS. I don't know what's causing this now. Edited June 17, 2014 by oqhansoloqo

Why would you get a weapon repaired for double its value when you could just buy a new one for half the price? You don't pay more than a car is worth to fix if you get into an accident, you just total the car and get a check from the insurance. I'll test that patch you made for the water bottles mod. Thanks for testing the plugin, now I just need the author to respond to my PM so I can upload the patch and get the mod in the guide. I recommend dropping the spawn rates of the stuff in the PN MCM menu (PN Rebalance I believe) by a bunch to make it harder to survive. Also, crank up the hardcore needs settings by about 25%. WotNM seems to have problems with its installer so be careful with it even after it has been reuploaded, plus CaliberX still isn't updated so you guys shouldn't be installing it anyways. EDIT: the new WotNM FOMOD is two levels deep which means MO can't see it.
oqhansoloqo
Sometimes this game is so weird - it's running fine now. I disabled the CMO mod, started new game, ran fine. But then.... I re-enabled it, started a new game,.... ran fine. I have no idea why it ran like crap before. Really - no idea. All I did was do what you recommended so far with the new WotNM - I just downloaded it waiting for CaliberX to update. Did you check out the new NVAC mod? You don't pay more than a car is worth to fix if you get into an accident, you just total the car and get a check from the insurance. Depends on the weapon. For example if you are running with a "signature weapon" (like a shotgun) or a unique that cannot be purchased you would be willing to pay through the nose to fix instead of just throw it away. It may not fit your personal play style, just throwing out another viewpoint. I wouldn't repair a "normal" weapon anyway unless it was with my personal skill as like you said its so easy to just toss it away and grab another or something else. I mean if you are going to go into things like repair price are you going to address how absolutely op the speech skill is?

I believe what SRB is saying is that its simply a game mechanic that isn't used because its not worth it. Its commonly unused. I understand completely why he wants to lower the price because he wants to make an unused or pointless part of the game into a used non pointless part of the game. This may or may not be the case for every player but most likely the majority.
EssArrBee
Speech can be kinda overpowered, but that would require a lot more work changing the quests to have higher checks for speech skill. I guess I could make a patch that makes Speech start at a lower value than default. That would make tagging Speech almost required if you want to pass any speech checks. What I meant wasn't that I would throw away my weapon, I would just buy a new one and repair my weapon with it and it is way cheaper. The author of Significantly Cheaper Vendor Repairs, Grasscid, put it like this, "Weapon Repair Kits themselves are worth 20 caps flat. If they're a repair vendor, they should have plenty of these on hand anyway." I do use the vendor repair early on in game when it's cheap, but later on when I have some modded out plasma rifle or some amazing assault rifle Millenia created, I just don't use it because it scales to high. I don't want to really make it so low that it is cheating or would deter me from crafting weapon or armor repair kits. Maybe a 1:1 ratio instead of 2:1. Livnthedream
Later in the game is exactly when you need it to scale high because by level 20 you have so many caps it just doesn't matter anymore what you do. If you want to get right down to it that would just be a really poor bandaid on an economy that is completely borked anyway.
EssArrBee
I definitely want to make the game a bit harder from the survival side of things by making items a little harder to get. I added tons of mods that introduce all these awesome items in game and haven't counteracted that much with mods that make life harder. That is why I want a mod that makes some usefulness out of the repair vendors, it is part of my long term vision. Maybe I'll just make a mod that has a perk to lower repair costs, so it's optional in game. PN Rebalance has some goodies in it to really make things hard like spawn rates, Unfound Loot, and the vendor difficulty. I think I have a few of those in my recommended MCM settings which I really need to finish. I actually think that WotNM distributes high level guns to soon and I would like to do my own distribution plugin. Maybe even de-level parts of the world all together requiem style and make the game super hard. Anyways, CaliberX-WotNM patch is now out. I'm going to have to look through it all and see what is up with the installer for WotNM or if I just want to do it manually like I do now. Either way, give me a little time and I'll have it figured out. Oh, and I'm thinking the CaliberX version of the store is best, and that LITE version of the store seems best to me instead of killing everyone in the Gun Runners.
