TechAngel85 Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Discussion thread: HD Horker by Pfuscher Wiki Link A complete re-work of the Horkers in Skyrim. I personally think these guys look pretty darn good and it's stays with the vanilla style. Marked for Testing. Should be a quick compare.
Pickysaurus Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 I approve of this mod. Makes the Horkers look like real creatures and not just giant grey blobs :D
Astakos Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 I do like this mod. Really! The only thing that holds me a bit back is that the author has not impelemented USLEEP fixes in his horker mesh. But probably I will end up using as texure-wise is amazing and there is also Gamwhich version which is really great as well.
Astakos Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 (edited) USLEEP (actually it was in a USKP release back in time) has an updated mesh for horker.nif that corrects shading, better placement of NiTriShapes etc.Author did not use USLEEP's/USKP's mesh as a base but the vanilla one.It is also mentioned by a user in the mod's comment page and it can be further seen by comparing the 2 models in NifScope. If you install HD Horker in MO you will also see that it overrides the horker.nif file from USLEEP. While the shading fixes are nice to have, still, the textures of this mod are really too nice to just let go.I just wish more authors in the future will start using USLEEP meshes as a base to their models. Fantomax Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 But probably I will end up using as texure-wise is amazing and there is also Gamwhich version which is really great as well. Gamwich's? I never seen it. Could you provide a link for that? Maybe, we can include it for the comparison.
TechAngel85 Posted June 29, 2016 Author Posted June 29, 2016 It's probably Gamwich's pack with the creatures in it. I can't remember the name but we've compared it several times with other textures and it's always come out on the bottom. I'm just not impressed with that pack as others are.
Nebulous112 Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Gamwich's? I never seen it. Could you provide a link for that? Maybe, we can include it for the comparison. The optional file on the HD Horker page is a version by Gamwich.
TechAngel85 Posted June 29, 2016 Author Posted June 29, 2016 Ah, I had not looked into that far yet. I'll compare the meshes as well, but from what is reported the USLEEP fixes aren't a big deal. More investigation is needed. Will not likely happen until my day off.
Astakos Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Yeah it is not an overly big deal!I still like the shading fixes from USLEEP though...!
Fantomax Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 The optional file on the HD Horker page is a version by Gamwich. Jeez, I only downloaded the main file, thanks for confirming.
TechAngel85 Posted June 30, 2016 Author Posted June 30, 2016 I checked the release notes for USLEEP and for the USKP, and there is nothing listed that would make me want or even need the USLEEP meshes. So...I really have no idea what you're talking about, unless they did undocumented changes. Bug #20227 is something they accidentally edited so they reversed it. Bug #12033 for the whiskers is taken care of because Pfuscher completely reworked the whiskers. Pfuscher's whiskers are far better so if you use the USLEEP mesh, you'll loose those beautiful whiskers. Everything else are things done to spelling, food items, or placements of the horkers in the worldspace. Nothing to do with meshes. Granted I still haven't compared the meshes in Nifskope.
TechAngel85 Posted June 30, 2016 Author Posted June 30, 2016 I've looked at the meshes in Nifskope. To be honest, I can't see a difference with my untrained eye. Just need to compare in-game to find out if there is a visible difference.
Astakos Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 I have tested it a bit last night and TBH I have not spotted anything weird regarding the mesh while in-game.Texture wise is absolutely brilliant. Especially Gamwich textures!
