  1. I'm not sure that this mod is the correct way to handle the issues it's attempting to handle, but the idea and the general aesthetic it provides seems to be pretty astounding. I'm building my own little ultimate modded Skyrim right now, may install this one just to check it out, but my gut tells me the basic concept of just resizing vanilla/sfo tree meshes isn't going to hold up to scrutiny.
  2. Yeah I passed over this mod when first installing things, simply on the thought of "I want less HUD, not more". I basically couldn't play the game anymore without immersive HUD, and genuinely believe that Bethesda needs to start including that functionality in the games - that damn compass bar just makes the game feel so much more linear. Anyway, I've since played with moreHUD and can say that the menu's defaults are excellent, unobtrusive, and informative. They absolutely do save time in menu's, and I'll be keeping this one in my LO moving forward.
  3. Shrines as well haven't really been touched, and while Ren's HD Shrines https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50327/? is decent, it has the same problems as Stunning Statues in that in makes some subjective changes (though fairly minor). It also honestly appears like only a small upgrade in quality (to me) from vanilla. As for these Dragonbone weapons textures, they look great and are added to my game!
  4. dude the fact that you respond at all to my foolishness, or to the many other questions you get on a regular basis is incredible. a million times over, thank you.
  5. so you can pretty much ignore that last post unless there's anything glaringly wrong about it, pretty sure I figured it all out, have everything set up and am starting to do some testing. I've followed your instructions for cutting EBT out of the STEP Extended patch, and looked at DSI to do the same... I mean basically I'm removing all entries of DSI in the STEP Extended patch yeah? The only thing that bugs me is that I noticed you mentioned using Brawl Bugs after performing the EBT removal - I'd assume that's because by removing EBT, we also got rid of the Brawl Bugs built into STEP, requiring us to now use the mod. Most of the DSI entries seem to also include entries from AOS? so I don't want to screw AOS up by taking them out. My guess is though, they were just patching DSI and AOS together, and shouldn't affect anything? man this stuff makes me nervous, i hate not knowing things! lol.
  6. Hey just a quick question... there is a WAF CCF patch for RotE in RotE patches, doesn't come in installer - you recommend using only the CCF patch? *EDIT - the patch was recent, which is the only reason I'm asking. also, while I'm asking questions - not sure which of your modular patches I should use, for SRLE, STEP: Extended, some combination? I've created almost the exact same setup you described earlier, except of course for a modular install of your packs. Seems like the obvious answer is for STEP: Extended as that's the patch I"m using, but things have definitely gotten blurry in that regard... like if anything were patched against SFO, I'd want to use SRLE? *EDIT - man I need to read more before I ask questions. apologies. saw the notes in the modular patches folder which say to use the SRLE patches. * - also assuming I should use the SRLE LOOT instructions for any mods I use. - final question; in terms of installing modular patches, do I use EVERY patch with mods that I use, including subsequent patches for that mod with other mods - eg; SRLE_CACO.esp SRLE_CACO_SIC_MLU.esp or; SRLE_E_Helgen Reborn.esp + SRLE_E_Helgen Reborn_ELE.esp
  7. I'm assuming its okay to install textures only from this for STEP: Extended? I love the concept of having schools of magic designs on specific robes, but I find the actual execution in this mod is not very good. The patterns and textures on the robes themselves look great - nice intricate designs, taken from ingame designs and such. The "schools of magic" designs however are these oddly placed, oddly colored, airbrush-effect designs that do not fit at all with the rest of the design aesthetic of the robes. They remind me of the designs of the Affliction mma apparel company... Now if someone was able to make some kind of linework designs that were worked into the color scheme and design work of the various robes, I'd be all in. I'd also like to point out that I have used this mod in the past and have actually seen the effects - both ways, with and without, ingame.
  8. Not quite sure I understand why 3DNPC would be demanding enough to provide a significant FPS boost? If so though, I may drop it also.... Going to drop NPC KO first, keep Immersive Patrols, do some testing and maybe drop IP as well. ... And as for Endgame NPC's, I think I will attempt my own version, and if so I will certainly keep it to ONLY changing NPC level, possibly some equipment changes, and maybe buffs for certain NPCs. The plan would be to be selective in which NPCS it touches and how, only making those that SHOULD be powerful more powerful. I looked at editing NPC info in CK the other day and it seems pretty straightforward, it just makes me nervous as the whole thing is unfamiliar to me. Again man, thanks for taking the time to respond.
  9. I have; iShadowMapResolutionSecondary=1024 iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=2048 in my Skyrimprefs.ini... do I delete both of these and consolidate to iShadowMapResolution=2048? Or leave as is? *EDIT I am stupid. found the correct setting.
  10. hey thanks, I've been talking to Dreadflopp, as I'll be using almost all of his 3 packs, + Survival pack by smile44 and Hishutup, and he seems to have a very similar setup, but uses only the STEP Extended patch and then a merge of his own modular patches, I think this is the route I will take. I'm aware of scripting limitations, and doing my best to reduce the number of script-intensive mods in my LO.
  11. that's pretty awesome, almost exactly what I was thinking of. I don't want to use ELFX, only because the compare shots I see on the Vividian ENB page seem like the least dark shadows, and I'm kind of into the dark shadows, specifically dungeons. I was mostly happy with the way things looked before, with STEP Relighting Skyrim and ELE Lite... though I did find interiors during the day did wind up being a little dark. do you find Peltapalooza adds too many pelts? I really love Rugnarok and the pelts look great from Peltapalooza but some of the screenshots I saw seemed like he was really trying to jam in unnecessary pelts. Maybe I'm being a little nitpicky. You don't use 3DNPC? I always install this mod, have never really used it much, but the dialogue and voice acting is really quite good... I'm torn a bit here, I do feel like it adds something worthwhile to my game, but I was reading Garfink's post a couple pages back, where he was saying it had conflicts and is difficult to integrate... I'd love to hear your thoughts on Immersive Patrols. Another one that I feel adds something worthwhile to my game, even if it is kind of background. I was getting an occasional real slow down/stutter amidst otherwise ultra-smooth gameplay with my last install, which used Immersive Patrols. I'm currently thinking about not using NPC KO Overhaul - not that I know anything, but on the page it says it uses a cloak script? I know many mods use this, but as far as I understand it, those are the types of scripts that run on NPC's semi-constantly, and become very demanding when layered on top of one another; and I'll definitely be using Frostfall, Wet & Cold, Loot & Degradation, and I think a couple others that use heavier scripts. I do plan on using only textures from EBT and DSI. It just seems like those large groups in the distance or whatever would be easier to handle if they weren't running so many scripts? and yeah I was eyeing the SRLE characters section as well, mostly for that Forgotten Argonian Roots mod, I really like those Argonian skin textures... after having looked into it more, the Geonox faces from Better Males also seem to look nicer than XCE, so yeah I'll be installing this section as well, minus UNPB. and finally! I'm thinking about using Simple Multiple Followers with Simple Follower Mount / Horses Revamped & Immersive Horses for followers & mounts... the auto sandbox of SMF, in addition to the auto-equip functions (depending on how that plays out, may disable) sound great. I also like that it seems like I can disable pretty much any part of the mod I don't want to use, and I'm really only getting a follower mod to have multiple followers. I think I'm also gonna roll with endgame NPC's, or possibly still attempt my own version, depending. oh and as far as new Lands/quests I'm thinking; Falskaar Wyrmstooth Helgen Reborn Moonpath to Elseweyr? More Immersive DG Entrance Unique Border Gates Moon+Star
  12. Okay so I went crazy. I bought a Samsung m.2 950 Pro SSD recently and installed it, to use as my gaming hard-drive, so that I can have a truly proper STEP setup. I know how to transfer my setup if I wanted to (did with FNV), but as I've been playing, reading, and so on, I've been adding mods, seeing other mods that interested me, and considering dropping a mod or two - essentially, thinking pretty hard about a revision. So I decided to just do a complete clean install of Skyrim on my new drive, and attempt to incorporate all that I've learned in it. After having thought about it for a while, and having really looked at SRLE and STEP, what I think I'd like to do is basically install STEP:Extended, but use Neo's Animation&Skeleton section, his sounds section (essentially just drop most of the STEP sounds), a good number of his textures that STEP isn't' currently using, and possibly his lighting as well - ELE with ELFX and (modified) Relighting Skyrim... and then Dreadflopps' packs + patches (Dovahkiin Reborn, Deleveled Loot, Gameplay Rebalance) and Survival pack by Smile44 and Hishutup. There may be a couple different installer options I need to pick on either side, but those I can almost certainly determine on my own... otherwise it seems like as long as I install XPMSE instead of XMPS, that makes the major difference in the two animation sections. Will Neovalen's Animation section conflict with STEP Extended Patch 2.2.9.2? My thought here is that the end result will be pretty damn close to SRLE though, making it potentially smarter to just use it instead? The only reason I don't want to go that route is that it looks like a pretty heavy setup to me, and there are some choices he makes that I don't want. I was definitely experiencing some small script lag already with my previous setup, and SRLE + what I would add to it is naturally heavier (though I could lighten the load probably if I wanted to)

  14. Did my best to search for a post on this one and couldn't find it. As I'm not really a modder, it's not the Behavior Organizer i'm interested in, so much as Character Behaviors Enhanced, a mod by the same author using this framework. Nexus page for SBO here; https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/38376/? on Downloads tab is where CBE is located currently; https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/38376/?tab=2&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fmodfiles%2F%3Fid%3D38376&pUp=1 Brodual video; Magic casting, shouting and weapon swings while jumping, with natural animations. Underwater combat is being worked on right now as I understand it, as well as additional underwater features, attacking/blocking off your back, and jumping while sprinting. Apparently the SBO framework can potentially allow for new animations for attacks, allowing for real spear thrusts, etc. It's in Alpha, and the last release was May 2015 - can't find anything about where this is at right now, but it sounds incredibly promising? EDIT - keep in mind i'm a total noob, so I have no way to suggest whether this is actually technically interesting or not. but the features of CBE certainly are - i mostly posted this here to hear what anyone who actually knows what they're talking about has to say about it.
  15. i definitely thought it was funny, but the moment was slightly ruined for me because i didn't play for a couple days, and then it didn't rain for a while in Skyrim, so it was like two weeks later that it happened - i was thinking at the time like "crap. that's a serious conflict right there" lol. it's funnier now.
  16. I used to use Realistic Humanoid Movement Speed https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/32229/? wasn't entirely satisfied, this looks like an improved version, I'm going to test it in my game and see...
  17. using the requirements only version right now, and loving it. I'm only at the very beginning, doing quests for the Circle members, but already it feels much more natural. barring some odd bug or performance issue, this one is staying in my LO forever.
  18. lol. I downloaded that addon, not knowing what it was... pretty sure i saw it's effects in game yesterday, as a heavy rainfall set in, slaughterfish started falling from the sky. I haven't read this whole thread, but this is by far the best weather mod I have ever come into contact with. The beauty and diversity it adds to my game is immeasurable. Whether it gets put in CORE, Extended, or a pack, where it goes is in my LO, moving forward. I say put it in CORE, but my guess is that's outside of the mandate?
  19. Just reading a thread where you expressed irritation at Nexus commenters, then found this one, so I had to drop a line; I don't use SRLE, I do STEP: Extended plus Dreadflopps' packs (though I might try SRLE for a next install), but I couldn't play my game without Dual Sheath Redux, and the commitment and dedication that you and others display in keeping this community going is nothing short of amazing. I only hope I can one day contribute back to this community with some mods of my own. A big thank you man, don't pay even the slightest attention to any loser deriding you over content you created and gave to everyone for free.
  20. No I'm saying SCO is an incredibly promising mod, but it has been abandoned by it's author. If you check the nexus page, you will see that the author has recently elected to declare SCO a modders resource, meaning anyone can take what he's done and run with it. Thereby, I say let's convince the incredible Gamwich to take up this abandoned mod, and create the definitive child overhaul mod for Skyrim. .... and if that's not clear, it's a joke. The point is that I love the concept, and it really deserves to be finished. I plan to start teaching myself modding in the near future, but my guess is that resolving what's going on there would be beyond my currently non-existent level of skill, or I would take up the project myself.
  21. I looked into Endgame NPC's, and I was aware of ESF Companions and Immersive College of Winterhold and their effects on those NPC's - I'm using the requirements only version of ESF Companions right now, and really loving it - but aware that the full mod will require some genuine conflict resolution to integrate. Endgame NPC's doesn't quite do what I had in mind, and generally it just sounds like what I had in mind will be intensive at best, and simply by it's nature, not a super-noticeable change to the game (probably many of the NPC's I would make more powerful you wouldn't really see in action - Ulfric, the Archmage, Septimus Signus, Kodlak, etc.) I guess I'll have to figure out something else to make my first contribution to the world of Skyrim modding.
  22. Realize this is an old thread, but as a long-time STEP user I have to say it's truly unfortunate this mod is not being developed further. Apparently the author has turned it into a modders resource, so if anyone felt like taking up this fight, we could have a truly epic child mod on our hands.... sadly, it appears as though Rustic Children is the best option for STEP otherwise. We need to convince Gamwich to finish SCO, if you ask me.
  23. I use the Steam GOTY version.... just read your "Why SKSE plugins can be installed via MO and others can't" thread... the whole manual placement of OBSE plugins doesn't thrill me. Not sure if I should just figure out this MO workaround or suck it up and learn more of WB. Sort of a moot point ATM as I recently purchased a 500GB Samsung 950 Pro SSD, and will shortly be transferring my whole setup to it, as I currently have everything installed on my main drive SSD, contrary to STEP instructions. So it might be a bit before I'm really ready to start modding Oblivion. to throw it out there, I hope you have at least Shivering Isles, as it's potentially the best DLC ever made for a video game, IMHO.
  24. Hey, recently purchased Oblivion after seeing how good it can look all modded up, and obviously this guide is the place to go at least to get a start there... couple questions; first, is it possible to use MO to mod Oblivion? I've done multiple installs of STEP as well as Essarrbee's Fear and Loathing, and am very comfortable using MO, to the point where I can intuit what to do most of the time without the help of the guide, but I know next to nothing of Wrye Bash other than building a Bashed Patch. Especially if I'm going to be using the guide only as a loose framework, I'd much prefer to use MO. second, will there be an update to the guide anytime soon? I have a masterpiece modded Skyrim and FNV right now that I have only begun to play, and could definitely wait for an update if one was coming... otherwise I might tinker a bit for now.
  25. Hey, I realize this is an issue that has been addressed in the past, but I'm wondering what the current state is on DSR with cloaks/backpacks/shields/bows on back and clipping? I have a STEP 2.2.9.2 Extended Install, with a modular install of Dreadflopps packs + Survival by smile 44, don't use many weapon/armor mods or any other equipping mods, and am getting pretty serious clipping, at least with backpacks and shields being the most noticeable. *I get it, I am one of those people. I'm trying not to be. Apologies.
