  1. Hey guys: A question. I am trying to setup new Oldrim and SSE STEP builds. I think your SRO WIKI pages need updating. Took me a LONG time to puzzle out the https://www.moddb.com/ information for SRO. Everything except the "Original" patch say it's for SSE; but it could be used for Oldrim as well, which without further explanation seems wrong. Your STEP SRO WIKI didn't clear it up, either. No mention of how/why one can use the SSE files on Oldrim. It took poking around and reading all the posts here on this forum to finally explain how this all works and how to install SRO on Oldrim. For Oldrim: Your WIKI says to download the first 3 parts, then the 1.7 update. That's out of date now?. According to this forum, the 1.7 update has been replaced by (2) 1.8 updates. I believe the install order for Oldrim is the first three 1.7 version parts, then the 1.8 update (Skyrim_Realistic_Overhaul_1.8._Update.rar), then the 1.8 Original update (SRO_1.8._Original_Skyrim_version_update.rar) on top of it all. (5) files total. Correct? And maybe mention that the 1.7 files and the main 1.8 update are, in fact, supposed to be used for both Oldrim & SSE, and that it is the "Original" patch installed last that makes it work for Oldrim. For SSE: Your WIKI page says to install the first 3 parts, then "Install the update file, choosing to merge as well." You should probably add a caution not to install the "original" file? In the Oldrim WIKI you say you can install them separately or merge them into one. For the SSE WIKI you just mention Merge. Shouldn't you be consistent? I know you're focused on SSE now; but there are those of us who still play Oldrim. Might be good to bring it up-to-date?
  2. Anything new on this? I just went into LOOT 15.1 and still the Global Priority is not available under Main. I tried @SmashingQuasars post; but it made no difference. I also note that there is a reminder not on the LOOT page to address this; but nothing more...
  3. Just occurred to me - Since I cannot fast travel with the map acting up: Could I use the console COC command to travel around? (Wasn't necessarily designed for that; but...) What would be the downside of using that method? (Aside from finding the area ID's...) - Do followers & your horse follow you if you COC? - Any accumulative save corruption possible? - Any other downside?
  4. I'll have a look to see if I have any loose assets or not. I used to do that as it was recommended "long" ago; but I stopped doing that a while back. There may be some left overs... I also forgot to mention that once the issue crops up - my frame rate drops to the single digits once you are out of the map. I also ran more of my old toons, and found, actually, most of them had this issue on MO1. Only one or two do not. I even started a fresh toon with this MO profile active. Same odd map issue dang it. (I also noticed my visibility indoors to be waaaay too dark, so there might be something else going on.) The map mods I have are really only texture and INI related, so I'm not sure what affect those would really have. CURIOUS QUESTION: When you consider the STEP mods from 2.2.9.1/2.2.9.2 era - what sort of, or which mods could affect the world map "positioning" (for lack of a better word)? (Keeping in mind the local map is just fine.) You guys know these mods way better than I do. Anything I could narrow in on?
  5. Haven't played Skyrim for a while, and decided to try setting up Oldrim in MO2 for convenience. I am using MO 2.2.2.1. Used Gamer Poet's guide to copy Oldrim from MO1 to MO2 in its own instance.( ) Using INI files, Mods, etc. as-is copied from MO1. After rerunning LOOT, Dual Sheath Redux, FNIS, Wrye Bash to make sure all still works, the game loads up fine, no issues. However: Going into Map [M] key or by [Tab] > Map On Entry - World Map scrolls (up or out - can't tell) really fast. I usually see clouds briefly. Screen is then blank. The active quest marker is in the far upper left corner. There is the Dawnguard 'castle' marker sort of visible in the upper left as well, and some other city marker in the lower left corner; but neither can be clicked on. Moving mouse cursor to the edges to scroll map has no effect. Neither does mouse wheel. Net result - cannot fast travel. Local map seems to work fine. This is a huge issue with no Fast Travel... Profile used is based on STEP 2.2.9.1 (or 2.2.9.2, it's been a while, I can't recall which), and has worked fine up till now. The Mod List is pretty much strict STEP. This issue is also a problem in another more personally customized version (profile). My Base/Vanilla versions do NOT have this issue. Maps work fine on those profiles. Strange. Tried deleting all map info in [MAPS] section of Skyrim.ini. No change. Tried different combinations of [MAPS] settings. No change. After pulling my hair out for a day, I went back to my MO1 setup (legacy version 1.4). Fired up Skyrim - Same Profile as used in MO2 - Same INI files - Same game saves - Map functions completely normally. WTF? I'm inclined to think it is an issue in setting up MO2 to work with Oldrim, and not a mod issue, even though the base/vanilla profiles work fine. Mainly because I'm using the same saves/INI files in both versions of MO. I can still play the game in MO1; but I'd rather play it in MO2 (If for no other reason than it's easier updating the Mods in MO2 as the feature seems to be locked out in MO1... Anyone have any thoughts?
  6. @GrantSP: Thanks for the thoughts on Hialgo Boost. I will try that. ======================== Further to my issue - I think I found a culprit. - Uninstalled stuff I indicated in my previous long post. - Ran through my suite of anti-malware programs. No issues. - Left ENB boost and Hialgo Boost on as before. - Tried Skyrim again. It worked again. Yeah!- Reinstalled LOOT 10.1. Skyrim worked. (No ENB or Hialgo issues) - Turned on nVidia in-game overlay. Still working. - Reinstalled Razer Synapse which forced a reboot. Still Working. WTF? - Enabled Synapse in-game overlay. Still working. WTF? - Rebooted 2nd time. Now I get the ENB/Hialgo crashes again. (What I expected) - Uninstalled Razer Synapse again. Rebooted. - Now Skyrim is working again. I think I can claim the Synapse software is the culprit. Why - who knows? Fortunately I don't need that stuff anyway. I'm not that hard-core a gamer. I can still use the thumb buttons the way I need to on my slick Naga Chroma. Somewhat muddying the waters is that Microsoft rolled out some mandatory updates today. Twice. First time happened before I ran the above tests after I had to install SolidWorks 3D. 2nd time came (I recall) at the 2nd reboot after reinstalling Synapse in the middle of the above tests. I find it interesting that an Anti-Virus issue for one person, and gaming mouse software for me caused virtually the same errors. I will claim victory and move on. If someone thinks of a reason for this behavior - I would be curious to know... [Though let us just appreciate for a moment that considering what we graphically impose on machines that can't count past one - it's wonder computers work at all...] Happy Turkey Day to all in the States!
  7. I was running Synapse. I uninstalled it. Have yet to test that. I have Mumble; but I've had that for months with no issue. I am running malware scans now. <Fill in name of body part> crossed!
  8. Question: Are there instructions included with the tool on how to use this when you use Mod Organizer?
  9. Interestingly (the polite term), I am having the exact same error, starting about the same time as Lorgren's error. I run Skyrim with SKSE, HiAlgo Boost, and ENB Boost. Have had the same setup for months with no issues. Haven't updated any of that either. My event log is pretty much identical to the above; but has skse_loader.exe and the d3d9.dll as the Faulting Modules, not an AntiVirus/Malware. To my knowledge the only thing updated was Win 7 (x64) on the 9th as above, GeForce Experience (with game overlay), my nVidia driver, added a Razor Chroma Mouse and it's software, and updated LOOT to 10.1. I reinstalled LOOT 8.1 (no change), reinstalled SKSE (no change). I've uninstalled the Razor software and will test that. I also disabled the in-game overlay in GeForce Experience (I think) and will test that. I will post again the results of that. So this is not just a one-off error. It's driving me mad. If I uninstall the ENB Boost and Hialgo, SKSE throws the error; but vanilla Skyrim will launch. My moded Skyrim versions will not load (infinite loading screen to CTD) as the full SKSE is used there, and not in the Vanilla version. (I use Mod Organizer to launch Skyrim and use the STEP recommended setup for SKSE.) I am also getting other errors which started at the same time. HiAlgo Boost gives me the error (A Mod Org message, I think) "Unsupported Skyrim® version. HiAlgoBoost is Disabled"; but does seem to start. I run ENB Boost (ver 236 wrapper binary for HiAlgo) and this is REALLY BAD. If this is installed, I get a message box (which appears to be from nVidia GeForce Experience - can't upload an image, can't figure out how). I can find nothing in the event logs that seem to relate to this error or the HiAlgo Boost error. I tried the latest wrapper binary. No difference. I have not tried the Injector version. Wrapper's been working fine 'till now. Error box Title: "ENBHost for ENBSeries". Body: "How to use." "This is memory host process for ENBSeries modification and it will be started automatically by the mod, do not run it manually" Then there is a copyright data for Boris Vorontsov. And a "Quit" button. The BAD thing is that message generates infinite versions of itself to the limit of my computer resources. It generates so fast, I almost cannot shutdown the computer. Keeps shifting focus to itself. Task manager is useless. There are SO MANY of these messages I can't kill them fast enough. The only way to stop it is to reboot/shutdown. I run McAffee Antivirus, which I cannot edit to exclude programs. Doesn't have that or a gaming feature. I have several Malware programs; but they haven't been updated as I haven't run scans for a while. As far as I know they do not passively scan. I can't run modded Skyrim at all now without ENB Boost. Won't load. (SKSE error "might" be the reason there...) Game runs through Steam and Mod Organizer. I have a 2015 Alienware 17 notebook Windows 7 - 64-bit i7 8 GB Ram OS and games run off SSD's nVidia GTX-970 Tried verifying the game cache with Steam. No difference. Have not tried reinstalling Skyrim. Not sure that will make any difference. I have most of the same software and versions on my desktop; which runs Skyrim OK. (Slow as it's a Core-2 Duo with nVidia GT-640.) Sorry about the long post. Frustrating couple days... This is REALLY puzzling. Any thoughts? Need anything to help troubleshoot? If this is better in another forum area - let me know.
  10. I find it difficult to disagree, especially after reading some internet security stuff (I recommend computercrimeinfo.com), and a lot of the above posts about Win 10. I would still like to see what you all have found or not on my questions, even if only to satisfy my curiosity. OBTW: I did run spybot anti-beacon on my Win 7-Pro notebook, and did find several telemetry issues to fix. Yeah Microsoft :O_o:
  11. So - After best part of a year now, what is the verdict on Windows 10 vs. STEP and all the modding utilities? Everything work? Anything you need to do to make them work correctly under Win10 if they don't? --------------------------------------------- On my laptop, I have several DOS MKLINK (Make Link) commands setup to create a directory “Junction†to move save folders around. Does anyone know if they will transfer on a Win10 upgrade? Or even work anymore? (As in mklink /j “{my docs path}\my games†“n:\My Gamesâ€) --------------------------------------------- On another note - I have ALL of the Elder Scrolls games and several other "legacy" games running on DosBox, or are vintage 2006 or earlier. Anyone know if they will work on Windows 10? (I know this is a 'Skyrim' forum; but others must have older games they run...)
  12. Is there an issue with this mod & MO 1.3.11? All of the installers fail to install (both current and the 8.0 version I already had). Had to load using Optional files as recommended by TechAngel85 above.
  13. Out of curiosity: What ramifications would there be if you, say, started with LOOT, then decided to go back to BOSS if LOOT started doing funny things to you?
  14. Question: As I do not have VS installed (any version), specifically what SDK should be downloaded? I tried the one for .Net 4; but it would not install. Errors seemed to be for other components it was looking for; but were not present. The install prompts don't really look like Neovalen had on his SR page, either... What, specifically do I download for Win 7, 64-bit? What version of .Net redistributables or full versions does it expect you to have? (In other words, what exactly did Neovalen use in his build?)
  15. @MadWizard25: Not about the Overwrite folder, though I do get those... @DoubleYou: There is nothing in STEP to say don't use the ESP; though MO does say it is superfluous if you extract the BSA file... I am just curious as to why MO is expecting a different order from STEP.
