Agree with Jorus, but again, I'd like confirmation from admin and site mods. This mod thread is a fine place to post screen compares for reference to SMIM versus vanilla. I will duplicate that post to the SMIM and Wearable lanterns threads. Please post someone!

The solution is really to optimize textures and meshes in exteriors. Interiors (including dungeons) can use 4K textures or higher. Even exteriors can exceed in some cases, but we have yet to determine the situations and places that demand the highest texture/mesh loads. We need more performance data by mod ....

This coming weekend is the 2.2.5 release, so ... for any more [ TESTING ] mods to be [ ACCEPTED ]/[ DENIED ], they will need either testing input or admin feedback on the stickied mod threads in MS. For any [ ACCEPTED ] mods to make it into the guide, each will need a mod page created ([ ACCEPTED ]/[ DENIED ] mods are not stickied right now, since the sticky list is too long, so please refer to the OP to determine which mods need a mod page and how to create one) I will be spending most of my time seeing to mod order (i.e., updating my own STEP install) , changelog updates, and Guide updates ... and what little leftover time I have scanning these forums. REMEMBER: Anyone in this community can help!

Update to 2.2.4 was March 31st, so this weekend is the update ;)

SKYRIMLE Realistic Lighting Overhaul (by The Realistic Lighting Team)
z929669 replied to Kelmych's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Good 4 U. The RLO project must be a nice add to your XP list then I am a biologist with 11+ years of XP as a student in academia, so I know how it goes ... good times though, so enjoy it. -
Hmm, we need to determine if SMIM version is too far from vanilla or not. I'll wait for the other site mods and admin to chime in on this before taking further.

Hi Swish, Glad to hear about someone interested in the wiki. You may not have noticed, but our wiki is augmented with Semantic Mediawiki. This adds lots of functionality that would not otherwise be possible. Also, this means that adding functionality requires more care and planning, but the payoff is ease of maintenance and "intelligence". While we do need to clean some things up (and would appreciate and encourage help in that area), there is a lot of dependency and interconnectivity of functionality across the wiki. For example, we largely use Semantic Properties rather than categories, as they allow the same functionality and more. Feel free to look around and discover what you can, but adding functionality will require a team approach and direction from stoppingby4now, Farlo and me. We have some plans, but we are currently not actively developing SMW functionality right now due to the time and planning needed (and we are all busy with RL things at the moment). We'll plan something, but feel free to learn SMW and add your ideas to this thread, as that may help to spurn ideas and creativity. Cheers.

K, thanks

Any reason to use this if we are going with Wet & Cold again?

I say that we bring it back then ... Are the options same? Could someone update the mod page?

Optimize, optimize, optimize .... reduce, reduce, reduce ;) I still think that it is definitely best to have 2-3 GB VRAM, regardless.

SKYRIMLE Nordic Lantern - Replacer (by css0101)
z929669 replied to hylskrik's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Yep, I just commented on the wearable lanterns SMIM patch thread. I definitely prefer vanilla lanterns (and barrels for that matter) to SMIM and this one. In fact, I think that we should recommend NOT using SMIM lanterns either and stick to vanilla. -
Personally, I like the vanilla lanterns better than the SMIM'd ones, and I also like the idea of lantern variety, which is what it seems like we get without the patches ... other opinions?

Unfortunately the only issue I'm having is the 3 gb RAM CTD. VRAM is 2.7 GB out of 3 GB which is fine and my fps is basically a constant 60 even with extreme S.T.E.P. It's just the damn RAM issue :(. I really hope someone can figure out a loophole for this because I feel that more and more users are going to run into this problem as they upgrade their rigs and try to run extreme step. But optimization and VRAM utilization will also translate into RAM savings for the process. I believe that this has been established on this thread somewhere.

Seriously though, use DDSopt to tweak textures. This application includes several optimizations that OT does not. The algorithm used to re-mip for starters. It is very easy to use and will in many cases reduce texture footprints without changing resolution. Theoretically, OT does some of these things, but it is not clear if it does or how it does it. Also, be on the lookout for NIF optimization. Visit the NifTools site and prod them to spur devel of PyFFI solutions that work for Skyrim NIFs. This is a big need right now, especially for winning back FPS in addition to VRAM.

DROPPED Argonian Sneak Tail Twist Fix (by Callak Skytower)

Seems like a no-brainer ... I think this can be accepted without further ado. -
SKYRIMLE Nordic Lantern - Replacer (by css0101)
z929669 replied to hylskrik's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Nice, but it looks more like an aristocrat's version to me. Most lanterns should look simple and drab IMO. Also, Wearable lanterns now looks right with SMIM, but not this one I suspect. -
SKYRIMLE Realistic Lighting Overhaul (by The Realistic Lighting Team)
z929669 replied to Kelmych's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Better send to me and Farlo on the Nexus as standard practice. Farlo is swamped with academic responsibilities intermittently. -
OK, now I get it. Could you post some screen compares of with and without this patch? This sounds like a no-brainer as long as the textures look good enough (which I imagine they would). Added to testing ... but just need the screen compares and the mod page created ;)

SKYRIMLE Realistic Teeth ( by Anton0028 and Brumbek)
z929669 replied to DCS78's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
I just installed this mod and find that it is so large due to the inclusion of all the facegen data. These are also high-poly meshes, which will cost in performance. The textures can be reduced though. In the end, this should cost a bit more than HD Teeth, but not too much more I wouldn't think and only due to the meshes. -
Hmm, given the lack of explanation on this mod's description, I naturally assumed that a "compatibility patch" meant a plugin ... I no understand ...

Wow, this is a big job, so I am glad that someone is doing it -
... however, we'd be happy to pick it back up if someone can do the testing ;)
