Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback
z929669 replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
When we move over to IPB, we'll likely close this one (and other really big ones) down and propose a revised forum structure overall anyway. Just wanted to prime folks for that. -
ACCEPTED Audio Overhaul for Skyrim (by David Jegutidse)
z929669 replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
Still love this mod, but I have noticed one annoying thing after playing many hours with it: Ambient sounds of people having conversations and singing/laughing/etc are often present without any obvious source. It is as if there is a party going on behind the closed door of a house (Solitude), but when opened, there is nobody around. The market area of Riften is also way too loud, and the conversations carry way too far. lastly, footsteps and armor clanking, etc carries waaay too far and seems to go right through walls as if there is only a linear distance relationship between source and reception (i.e., obstructions don't seem to muffle sound). This is just as annoying as sneaking in a room behind a closed door and the sneak icon indicates that you are being watched. These may be engine limitations, but not sure. I will attempt next to reduce certain volume levels via the game settings, but it would be great if there were some way to fine-tune more specific volume levels via a MCM menu. -
The new 2.2.8 STEP guide (in dev) details some of the ideal settings for high-end cards to maximize quality/performance. Things like FPS limit, driver-side SSAA/vsync/triple buffering. The new guide URL can be extrapolated from the URL of the current guide. ENBoost + Mempatch 3.0 obviate the need to worry too much about 1k versus 2k textures any longer (on higher-end 64-bit systems anyway). It is now more about CPU/GPU bottlenecks than it is about VRAM for RAM-heavy systems with modern GPUs.

Skyrim Revisited Pre-Release Feedback
z929669 replied to Neovalen's topic in Skyrim Revisited (retired)
@Neo My thinking is that this thread is no longer relevant (in the larger context of the forums overall) ... Is feedback being collected or is this mostly just a catch-all for people not wanting to put more thought into their posts? :/ (That was a rhetorical question :P ) the pre-release has already happended, and the current pre-release is SR:LE ... why not close this thread and create another more specific thread? Or simply close this and use the already-more specific threads that exist or are waiting to be created? Anyway, I thought I'd mention it, because searching for topics will often produce multiple results from this huge thread, which is mostly irrelevant to any info pertaining to 'today' Would you mind closing this one Neo? -
Sounds like you have a mod-setup issue or a more general OS/hardware issue. These MM solutions work without a doubt. If you use only: SKSE (correct version set up properly),Stable uGrids (not really necessary in your case)ENBoost (the correct setup is important), andthe dll in the OP (with skse.ini tweaks),then you should not get any crashing. Use MO and set up a vanilla profile with the above solutions. This should run without error. Set up another profile with onlyh STEP:Core installed (again, this should run flawlessly). Finally, run your current profile, and if you crash, it has nothing to do with the memory optimization mods and is the cause of your mod lineup/plugin order/invalid plugins/missing masters/bad Bashed patch, etc., etc. ad nauseum. Note that of the four MM options above, only Stable uGrids is installed via a mod manager. All other solutions are persistent in your directory, so if there is any issue with them, you should get that in all of your profiles.

DROPPED aMidianBorn Solstheim Landscape (by CaBaL)
z929669 replied to rootsrat's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
That would be awesome. The best critics are those that actually are looking at the textures in game and producing screens. Too bad we don't have at least two or three people doing this -
Should be fixed. Someone please try the BCF now.

Just Core. -
Fixed, thanks!

Sorry for not correcting this ages ago ... I am attempting to upload a corrected version, but dir security settings are wrong and preventing me from doing so. s4n set up SElinux, so I am waiting for him to confirm that I can chmod that dir on the server.

All I can say is that it works for me and manyothers ... so ... Just use MO (STEP now recommends), and use the installer from the FOMOD

This mod makes the rock look scrunched up, effectively turning much of the igneous rock into some kind of metamorphic rock or even lava flows in some cases. I personally think that the vanilla mountain meshes are better without the UV remapping (in most cases but not all). The meshes need way more work than just UV remapping (Brumbek knows about this and seems to be taking on small chunks here and there). This post has the rationale

ACCEPTED Waterbreathing Breathless Emerge (by Alek)

I can agree to drop this one as well. thanks for the suggestions! -
When I asked about this s4n said you can't link to a subsection within a tab.Correct. the one downside to Headertabs.

No, nothing 'fishy' about ENBoost at all Your issue lies elsewhere, no doubt. Again, set up a vanilla profile under MO and be certain to use a clean Skyrim install (see the STEP Guides on the wiki). Then follow SRB's link above.

I'll be checking these out for sure. I also asked if he would be inclined to create some patches for kryptopyr's work.

Those having trouble with ENBoost should be certain to use the correct INI version for your GPU and VRAM capacity. As a test, abandon your standard ENB, and use only the barebones ENBoost with UsePatchSpeedhackWithoutGraphics=true. Also, playing without Steam could be introducing unknown behavior, so try with Steam configured properly as another trial run. Lastly, CTDs and ILSs will still be a problem if there are any mod issues or incompatibilities, so this is a likely possibility. Try using MO and set up a different modding profile with, say, STEP:Core as a base just to rule out this possibility (or even a vanilla setup would rule out mod problems). @hellianos FPS limiter applies if you have a higher-end GPU and often run at and below 60+ FPS with vysync enabled. (correction) Microstutter occurs as a result of frame asyncronization with the monitor refresh rate. Limiting, keeps the frame rate below refresh (instead of going over/under all the time), and vsync with tripple buffering resolves the async issues. See the Display section of the new STEP guide (under construction!) for a quickref on some recommended settings for your card if this applies to you. https://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:2.2.8

ACCEPTED Complete Crafting Overhaul Remade (by kryptopyr)
z929669 replied to statmonster's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
The manual can be opened with any PDF reader, so I wonder if you are referring to the same thing. Look at the one in the "mass effect" download. I use Foxit reader, and it works fine. I am now in the midst of asking azirok about creating some patches for your stuff. He/she does a bunch of Requiem patches. Maybe he'll come over and comment. -
Thanks for the feedback keithinhanoi. I suspect that all of the heretofore 'dangerous' skyrim.ini settings may be on the table as well now that we can assume taht most creashing has been due to MM issues. Perhaps you can push things by increasing UseThreaded* ini settings and shadows, etc. I am doing just that with uGrids 11 and playing as normal for a couple of hours (hopefully) tonight. A logging solution would be great if you can find one. More on using VMMap for anyone willing to learn and report back. More tools to evaluate
