  1. It's too bad, I really like the looks of this map, it harkens back to the days when you got a "shitty" cloth map with your Elder Scrolls game......... Hang on a minute... I just ordered the Elder Scroll Anthology and that comes with several "shitty" cloth maps... what do others do with these cloth maps?
  2. With Shimmering, do you mean z-fighting? (probably shouldn't ask, as I don't have a problem with it since I don't know about it..... :) )Â I've had grass "shimmer", like they are partially transparent and I fixed that by keeping the shadow on grass ON. (I have learn to live with z-fighting as fixes in the ini files that mess with block distances (for me anyway) makes my game less stable (not a scientific fact though as I haven't tested this theory enough) It's probably something I would try to fix once I got my game super stable and have been playing for 50+ hours with no (or at most 1 or 2) crashes.)
  3. My favorite ENBs are Ruvaak Dahmaan (for a more vanilla palette cinema experience that works great with Climates of Tamriel which is a BIG plus) and Somber (for a more stylistic vintage cinema experience), so you can gather that I am a cinematic loving sort of guy. As it stands currently I prefer ELFX, I found RLO overly warm, realistic yes, since most of the light sources in a medieval world is fire, but it made the game less colorful and I prefer the darker dungeon of ELFX, in my opinion, I don't think the dungeons or nights are dark enough even with ELFX & Blackout! The light through the windows is very nice and looks amazing of course. (too bad COT's darker nights mess with brightness of light sources as well as the ambient brightness, or it would fix my issues with ELFX) I agree that if ELFX toned down the brightness of light sources in taverns and inns, it would be perfect. Looking at the screen shots alone, no doubt in my mine ELFX, RLO looks unfinished in some of those screenies. Not to mention that most ENBs (the ones I like anyway) out there support ELFX over RLO. As for Vanilla lighting.... meh, talk about moonlight effect, its amazing how bright everything is!
  4. I noticed that the outlines around trees is indeed there when ENB is turned off. But... I have it installed for my current playthrough, you sort of get use to it and Somber ENB (and many other ENBs) look better when it's cloudy. I notice you do get blue skies where the character is, but you rarely if ever get blue skies nearer the horizon. I am currently not using and Climate mods as Somber ENB doesn't support them... (I miss COT and supreme storms and more fog and stuff, big time though!) Does anyone know if other weather mods work with ENBs that don't like COT? Meaning: do all weather mods mess with color? Could I use say enhanced dynamic weather system with Somber ENB? Without messing with Somber ENB's author's vision?
  5. I can't seem to get this mod to work, I get the map to load but the markers seems to float on the map and as I scroll the map, the markers move not relative to the map scrolling and end up changing spots. Anyone have this problem? Have I installed this incorrectly?
  6. Nice, I am not sure about the scale of Tamriel though, as it seems to get smaller with each new Elder Scrolls game, but I am not sure you should be able to see the red mountain from Skyrim or even Solstheim. Especially if you look at the world with the scale that was in Daggerfall.
  7. Let me redirect you to my post here about my experience with Skyrim Crashes, the crashes I address you described exactly. In summary: It's because you use HD textures. But the long explanation is here: https://forum.step-project.com/showthread.php?tid=3319 A quick look at your mod list, I would consider uninstalling deadly spell impact (this mod "spawns" a lot of new textures and causes problems with heavily modded games) & Nernies cities expansion (any mod that adds stuff to areas that are already full of stuff is a cause of CTDs & infinite load screens) & Wet & Cold (great mod, but is very script heavy and in my experience, crashes my game in areas such as the Windhelm docks where it's snowing and there are lots of NPCs walking around) & dead body collision (the game wasn't designed with this in mind and you'll get twitching bodies and crazy physics occasionally, but this probably won't cause CTDs though) & automatic variants (this loads a lot more textures in each cell and similar to extra spawns, it may cause intermittent freezes and CTDs.) I used to get random crashes, it can happen almost any where and the frequency is random as well. Very annoying, now I don't get any crashes. Me personally, I found it unacceptable for any game to crash once every hour. It is very immersion breaking and it usually happens when you are really into the game and having a tense moment. Extremely annoying.
  8. Not a AA technophile, but here is my 2 cents, I use the TemporalAA in Boris's ENBSeries which works wonderfully. There is a little blur if you look at the ground when moving (why would you do this in-game?), but its pretty amazing. It does take some your machine's power though. The EdgeAA is pretty amazing for performance (doesn't affect performance at all on my machine), but then again, its pretty darn weak and barely fixes them "horizontal" wood fences in towns. I haven't compared this to SMAA though.
  9. I am using a sexy Nord, I will not hide her beautiful UNP neck. :) Her neck is my lure for horny vampires.
  10. It depends on which ENB you use, some author will recommend it for their ENB and others will tell you not to use it. In my experience, I prefer the fog indoors, which makes these cells look more 3D.
  11. I am NOT stuffing my backpack with ruined and burnt books no matter how cold it is outside! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  12. I like dungeon fog, without which interiors look flat when using an ENB Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  13. I use spells cast light for a long time, works great and I've had no issues, what's the difference? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  14. Nope, I know how to manual merge esp together, but not sure how I would go about making patches. I think I could work it out with guides that are online, but only as a last resort. Probably could get more mods working together if I did though.
  15. The trick was to get rid of extra NPCs even Insects! (I intend to install skybirds and try in its next update as I like the ambient bird noises that mod adds, much better then SOS's fake noise.), keeping ASIS spawning only 0-3 extra creatures, get rid of Wet & Cold, no immersive patrols/3dNPC/radiance/Orbis (these would mess up Skyrim Unleashed's balance anyway), even inconsequential NPC is a luxury that I've kept. Then I went through the STEP/SR and got rid of all the mods I can live without, and then I went through the remaining mods and short list those that use scripts and soul searched further. Found that Skyrim Unleashed did a lot of the changes I want, which helps a lot. (weapon degradation I really like, and I have found to be stable.) (I think if I got rid of ASIS and inconsequential NPCs I would probably get rid of the last ILS as well. But I drew the line where I am at now after all my testing.) Then finally to get rid of final ILS during cell changes, downsize the textures as I explained about. and Voila! Stable game. Trust me: I stress tested the game both artificially and in-vitro big time before deeming it ready! This process took many many weeks, my wife would kill me if she knew how long it all took!! I will further install mods like "becoming a bard" or "Better vampires" if I am actually going to use them in-game. Had a look at your mod list... looks like my mod list before I bit the bullet. Nice taste in mods you have. One more tip: Add the animations in at the very end. Apparently some of those that uses FINIS can cause hangs even if you don't play the animation. (I suspect its the poses mods. But to be safe, I added very few of these. only Breathing Idles in fact!!)
  16. Skyrim Revisited: LE, all landscapes, weapons, small items like sacks and baskets and food 1024x1024, armor and skin 2048x1024, caves & dungeons same as SR:LE. No LOD objects installed. On a Titan & 32Gb RAM. ILS never occurs whilst I am actually playing. Like leaving an indoor space, so its not a real problem. I've had to make a lot of sacrifices to get it running predictably (as you can see in my load-order), but the core mods are there... even one or two luxury ones like expanded cities and towns and better docks. (At the beginning of the game I made a save game called "safetoload" in an inn and if I have loading issues, I load this up and then load the game, works like a charm.) Boris told me that's how he deals with the issue, even though he made an attempt to fix it around version 0.202, it helped a lot but it didn't solve the problem totally. But he told me to do it (he has the same issue obviously) this way till he finds a way. Even he is having this issue.
  17. Level 24 at the moment. The ONLY issue I have very very occasionally is, when I come back to my game the NEXT session, and I saved in a busy outside area, I may need to load an indoor save first to get my game to load. BUT NO CTDS whilst playing!
  18. You know what... I am a Commodore 64 Wasteland Veteran and I obvious love Elder Scrolls too.. Believe it or not, I have not played New Vegas and I think I played 2 hours of Fallout 3... I have a lot of modding to do!
  19. Nice, I posted my load-order because like you, its taken me FOREVER to be comfortable with my setup, especially stability-wise to start a new serious RP playthrough. So I'll like to share what I've finally picked mod-wise!! I couldn't wait for the new S.T.E.P. or S.R:L.E. any longer!! The bard setup is nice, as there is many reasons for a bard to experience what Skyrim has to offer. Next playthrough... which I hope will be a LONG while will be the Daedric loving character, in search of fealty for a powerful lord... @rootsrat Nice photos! We have similar interests I teach photography and ran a photographic art gallery for awhile there (I am a Veterinarian also). Here are my webpages: https://lynette-and-drericlai.smugmug.com/ https://hkcamera.wordpress.com/
  20. You could use the earlier version of it before they messed with the dragons. I uninstalled this because apart from the vampires being annoying & maybe having control of the start of the dragon born adventure, I don't know how best to set the other settings. So I decided that this wasn't enough to install another mod with scripting.
  21. Same, my first play through was a Nord Heavy Armor Board & Stick guy, vanilla Skyrim... almost had a stroke how disappointed I was. Love the lore, happy with the new perk system, happy with the graphics, okay with the games's story and okay with the side quests...wished there was more, but the gameplay was soooo... Tomb Raider, hand held affair. I immediately uninstalled it for 1.5 years hoping someone will have a Realistic Needs and Disease mod by then... imagine my surprise to find Frostfall, ENB and no bath mods! Can't wait for all the awesome quest mods that are coming down the line!!! Can't wait to start Falskaar!!
  22. I live in Hong Kong, you could spend US$400 if you have your own monitor and get it looking amazing with an ENB. Easy. A LOT better then the console version. And I am not even taking into account all the mods you can install to improve the gameplay. I say this, using a US$3330 monitor ... and probably another US$3000 for the the computer... but that $400 computer will surprisingly come close to what I can do with Skyrim... super bang for your buck!
  23. I can't see how they can fix the engine but fiddling with the gearbox. But any improvement is welcomed of course.
  24. You are correct Aiyen, that's why I rarely play sneak characters either. I think there must be a mod out there that deals with the sneak being too easy issue.... I think the problem with sneaking is, I find it believable that your initial sneak should work at high levels, but after that, you shouldn't be able to run to cover and hide and re-sneak again. That just makes no sense! I think after you kill the first guy and the rest should be alerted or at least a high chance of being alert if they are close by and you have to run for your life and can't hide against that mob ever again... That should make the sneak characters more challenging... you've to work out who is the toughest, kill him first and plan on how to face the rest of the mob in fair combat.... Still powerful, but not crazily so. @Elenear Works fine with Skyre too! I use Forgotten magic, apocalyse & Mighty Magic on top as well. You'll have a few more illusion options with these mods as well. Balanced still and fun. Here is my current load-order: https://pastebin.com/FaDmhQ8M
  25. I am sure this build is nothing like your mage playthrough, which then to be conjure/destruction -centric especially if you didn't plan it out. Here are the Major skills: One-handed: Scimitar because they are awesome, both as a spellsword and dual wield. Illusion: bard's voice is powerful, using mind altering magics. Alteration: flesh spells, mage armor just in case your illusion magic fails. Enchanting: needed to enchant clothing, illusion/alteration very expensive magicka wise so you need cost reduction. Also Paralysis! Minor: Smithing (Just a couple of perks to improve steel & maybe later arcane blacksmith) Restoration (you don't have armor remember.) Shouts: Unrelenting force, Ice form, become ethereal, dragon aspect and bend will. Illusion magic is useless against dragons, you'll need to dual wield against them. I use Skyrim Unleashed with SkyRe and Duel V5, so I CAN'T do the main quest till I am pretty high level any way, so its perfect. You get murdered in Bleak Falls Barrow until you are like level 12+, 15+ if you don't have a companion (which is up to you.). If I intend to play with a companion, Skyrim Unleash has an optional addon that toughens up the NPCs to make the experience balanced and challenging. To get the scimitars, I usually just console an iron one to begin with... there are a few places in the game where there are some. Them warriors of Hammerfell, they have curved swords....curved swords! Low level: get them enchanted with Soul Trap, Absorb Health or Paralyze, High level: Soul Trap/Paralyze, Absorb health & stamina, Absorb Health/Paralyze Keep your enemies busy with illusion and shouts and then move in for the kill. You need to avoid getting hit. if you are up against someone tough duel wield. Example: Frenzy then become ethereal then mass paralysis and stability if you get mobbed. Rout and frostcloak and poke poke in the back is a good combo. How about: Muffle, Frenzy then Invisibility.... For super woman/man: Dragon Aspect, Become Ethereal, Dragonhide, Dual Wield Scimitars with absorb health/stamina. Use Earth Stone/Vegetable soup at low levels. You are a MACHINE! But it will take a long time to get to this build... its the journey remember. Add a little poison to spice it up... not necessary, but could be fitted in. Not a very perk intensive build. So there is a little flexibility. Trick is refrain from non-illusion range attacks from the start... VERY hard. That restoration comes in handy. Good fun build: Even at High Levels you still need tactics. Need to come up with a fun archer build.... how to nerf it and still have it make sense.... @Elenear You don't need Skyre to play this build! I did it without Skyre and I am doing it again with it now! With weapon degradation mod... the early game is very different....
