Haven't had any of them either. I've already done benchmarking with 2.2.9.1 and whilst that done the intro scene about twenty times and the beheading scene about ten times. Yet I know the beheading scene bug from a mod build about two years ago. Don't remember what caused it back then, perhaps an old version of DBC? This is from my fresh 2.2.9.2 installation with Dead Body Collision active: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRyx1hsLqoU I also know the walking cycle inside Helgen Keep as I had it in my last mod build. However, it didn't appear until I had installed a variety of other mods, not with the actual STEP build.

Civil War Overhaul - Chance using it or no?
elwaps replied to aaltair's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
I get your point. But I and many other people prefer starting with Alternate Start and have a completely different main story instead of immerdiately being the Dragonborn. And if you're choosing the military start, nothing is cooler than having CWO installed. I am very aware of it still being buggy - although my experiences didn't match the horrible talking about it being unplayable. I know that there's a medium probability of having to use the console to fix something stuck. I also know there's a tiny probatility for screwing my savegame. The former doesn't bother me because the mod, especially with a military start, gives so much more than it demands. I wouldn't put it in the modlist of a friend, but I see the advantages for myself and I'm also not entirely helpless with things like using the console. The latter is approaching zero as I'm gonna use Autosave Manager with alot of incremental 10 minutes saves and the same with all scriptheavy mods anyway. I mean, we're not talking about putting CWO in STEP or even STEP Core. I'm just saying that the mod provides tons of fun and immersion when you're okay with losing some immersion for a handful of times during your playthrough and if you're not a total noob with the console and such. :) -
When doing my last benchmark I noticed medium range mountain flicker, to be exact on the mountains left of Helgen when passing by the first citizens you see. It wasn't the usual black-ish distant mountain flicker that looks like clipping shadows but much closer, white-ish and looking like snow clipped through rocks. I'll do a video later. /edit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3a4GO1xAok Look at the rock sticking out of the snowy mountain top left at 2:35 Look at the rock in the background behind the tower and the yellow roof at 2:40

Civil War Overhaul - Chance using it or no?
elwaps replied to aaltair's topic in General Skyrim LE Discussion & Support
I've had it running in the past and played for about ten hours until I encountered the first problem at all. Which could be easily fixed with a console command. From that point on another few hours without CWO related bugs. Then I killed my installation, as usual, by adding too many mods without testing and couldn't track down CTDs anymore, so I reinstalled. ;) I'm gonna give it a try after my current 2.2.9.2 installation and report back. Might take some time tho, this time I'm gonna do a several hours test session after each few mods I install on top of STEP to get a rock stable setup in the end. -
ACCEPTED XP32 Maximum Skeleton Extended (by Groovtama)
elwaps replied to EssArrBee's topic in Skyrim LE Mods
As far as it looks from my noob perspective, if using XP32, my benefits are... none?! XP32 Extended, my benefits are being able to install HDT, a variety of body mods, a variety of animation packs and kinky adult stuff So. Why shouldn't I perfer the extended one? -
New STEP with some Immersion-survival mods works like charm!.
elwaps replied to navuhodonosor's question in General Skyrim LE Support
It would be awesome if you could add the load order settings and the patches you've used. CoT, for example, needs to be patched into Audio Overhaul for Skyrim 2 and ELE. -
Thanks alot. I also got 4GB of VRAM and only filled about half of it with STEP Extended (2.2.9.1) so I'm gonna give it a shot after I'm through with 2.2.9.2 & VividianENB! :)

pack A Real Explorer's Guide to Skyrim

Thank you for your time and effort you've put in up to this point, REGS was always a mandatory add-on for my STEP installations, loved it! As for the first reason, I wish you all the best and a ton of good grades. As for the third reason - although I don't think that will change your mind - I've already used STEP 2.2.9.1 with REGS and a manually added Immersive Citizens. This is what I've experienced after applying all patches and load order recommendations I've found: - it is rock stable when it comes to CTDs and freezes, everything worked without sending Skyrim to Oblivion even once - the ETaC patch may not look good in TES5Edit but it appeared to work just fine, at least I never found NPCs doing weird stuff in ETaC areas beyond what you would expect from Vanilla Skyrim - there were some minor "Where the hell am I?", "How did I get here and what do I do?" and "Huh? That cart wasn't there yesterday, lets try to walk through it" issues in JKs Cities, however, they never broke immersion as they were more rare than you would expect - I had some NPCs standing instead of walking on the roads, however, all of these issues happened outside of JK and ETaC but on open roads so it was probably another mod I had installed As far as I understood it with my noob understanding, all one would have to do is completely NavMesh JKs Cities, whatever that would mean in detail. Whatever, looking at your first and second reason, I really hope there'll be someone picking up your awesome work. REGS is too good to be abandoned. Especially looking at the integration of the bigger city/town/building/... overhaults and the quest mods that always seemed a bit broken to me, every second one of the latter ones had to be cleaned in TES5Edit. Without REGS I wouldn't have had any of them in my games. -
pack Perkus Maximus (PerMa - PaMa) Pack
elwaps replied to phazer11's topic in Step Skyrim LE Packs (retired)
Sorry guys I didn't really understand what you were talking about. Isn't SRLE more like a standalone installation comparable to STEP instead of a pack that can be added to STEP? I also don't get that double negation, sorry, no native speaker here. "SRLE Explorer's Edition isn't ready for use yet I don't think." Just asking as I plan to install REGS and PerMa too after I've finished STEP 2.2.9.2. The better the compatibility the better for my installation. So what should we best use? In the past (2.2.9.1 and before) I've always installed REGS and tried to manually make it compatible to STEP which usually was stable, all I had to do was checking all STEP mods for compatibility patches (ETaC etc) but I had to do that anyway as I will also add an ENB (Vividian) with its weather mods (CoT needs a ton of patches too for example) aswell as PerMa (patch needed for that visual perk replacer for example). So what is the best way to place REGS, ENB and PerMa on top of STEP? -
Hyped for 2.2.9.2 :)

To add to this, its best to install Mod Organizer, TES5Edit, WyreBash and so on into your Skyrim directory. Given you got enough free space (on your SSD?) you can easily backup your entire folder once your mod setup is running and it will include EVERYTHING, such as your entire mod setup, all Mod Organizer profiles including the respective skyrim.ini and skyrimprefs.ini and all of your savegames. You can even transfer your entire setup to a friend that way, just by zipping your Skyrim folder and extracting it over his virgin Skyrim installation. All you have to do is adapt the filepaths in the MO ini file to his system. Already tested and it worked flawless. And given you're at some point more experimental when it comes to modding and you totally *** it up (this WILL happen at some point when you're not working like a scientist when installing lots of unknown mods), you can of course always unzip your backup over your current directory to completely restore the earlier state. Alternatively you can create a new Mod Organizer profile for every new iteration of your mod build. As long as you don't touch the previously installed mods in the left pane of your copied new profile you can always switch between profiles with nothing more than two mouse clicks.

Dyndolod causes severe FPS drop after character creation
elwaps replied to WizardDoctor's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Isn't the ENBlocal.ini default already 60.0? Anyway, thanks for the heads up with Num, now I can easily switch between benchmarking and playing without tearing. -
Sounds great! Where in the load order should we put this one? The first one is from 2D, the last one from 2L, that's why I'm asking.
-
So all one can do is playing with 8192 shadow resolutions and buy this with 5-10fps? ^^
-
I'm currently trying to merge some AOS2 patches (that for some reason include a huge amount of sound files when merging and therefore apparently take ages to finish) followed by an approximately half hour reproccer and a one hour DynDOLOD run so I can't test for myself at the moment - but what would happen when setting both values to 0? Incredibly smooth realtime sun transitions bought with 30 instead of 17% CPU load? :O_o:
-
@Yakuza Forget about CPU load, I didn't have a single situation in four years of Skyrim where the CPU became the bottleneck. I've had the 0.25/1.5 settings recommended by STEP so far but the "not moving for a while"/"moving alot at once" transitions always annoyed me. It becomes smooth when for example using 0.25/0 (inspired by your 1/0 video) - but even when using an ENB (Vividian default) the shadow isn't smooth enough to not look weird. Is there any solution to this except for going to extreme shadow resolutions? I would but I actually have to GAIN performance (thanks JK/ETaC/Verdant/CoT/ENB!) to get a well playable Skyrim in all situations. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObXhsBIjXNk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1XJpqjugYA /edit Recorded with "set timescale to 100"

Losing up to 12fps in average after applying the STEP INI Guide - why?
elwaps replied to elwaps's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Thanks, I'll try that. I would guess you wouldn't notice it that much anyway as in JK's cities and ETaC's towns there's so much detail to look at and as in the wilds there's grass everywhere. That's because I've added Verdant in the meanwhile, which killed what was left of my performance. ;) -
Dynamic Distant Objects LOD - pre 2.xx
elwaps replied to sheson's question in DynDOLOD & xLODGen Support
First of all thank you for this wonderful tool! I think I've found a bug while checking a bunch of player homes for glitches, lore friendliness and clipping. As I'm no expert I'm not sure if it is caused by the player home or by DynDOLOD, that's why I'm asking here. I'm talking about Vjarkell Castle which is located in the Forgotten Vale. The front door looks odd with something rock-ish hovering in front of it. While the rock ID pointed to Vjarkell Castle.esp only, the wall of the entrance put out the ID as shown above/below. I've put the ID into TES5Edit and it showed me the following The only actual difference seems to be this "Is Full LOD" thing on the player home esp. What does that mean? Should I exclude the mod like Birds and Flocks HF the next time I'm creating my LODs? Or could it be a LOD fragment that was still shown as I was flying around with speedmult 500? Anyone ever seen anything like that? -

elwaps replied to CJ2311's topic in Step Skyrim LE Packs (retired)
 it indeed doesn't! Thank you! Good thing I've reinstalled it. Hope I didn't make any more mistakes during STEP install... Is there any way to make those two esps temporarily accept the old Unofficial Patches? Or aren't they that crucial? -

Forget about No Snow under the Roof, that was my fault. However, ETaC - Complete CRF Patch.esp and ETaC - Whiterun Ext CRF Patch.esp both refer to Cutting Room Floor.esp which should be deleted after installing the STEP Patch. However, I've installed it again just for the laughs. Unforunately they now refer to Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch.esp which isn't part of STEP 2.2.9.1 at all. -
Anything new on that topic? I guess you're still busy doing 2.3.0 but perhaps someone else might be of help. 1) STEP: Core is mentioned. Is it also compatible with a full STEP Extended 2.2.9.1 installation? 2) It probably isn't due things like JK's Major Cities - but can it somehow be made compatible with REGS? 3) I'm quite overwhelmed by those faction mods (War Zones, Immersive Patrols, CWO,...). IP and CWO obviously work together, else you wouldn't have put them into the PACK. However, why do you favour IP over War Zones for example? Or other patrol/faction mods?

Mesh problem - SMIM's smeltermarker.nif causes flashing with ENB
elwaps replied to darkside's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Thanks for your workaround, I've encountered this on a regular base while using Tundra ENB. Here's my screens, it doesn't occur only 2 or 3 times but is totally replicable. What is wrong with hiding the mesh by the way? Seems like a fine solution to me or does it look odd somehow?
