This shouldn't be neccessary as the STEP instruction about aMidianBorn Book of Silence says at the very bottom: "Required: Right click the aMidianBorn Book of Silence mod > Information > Optional ESPs. Move aMidianborn_Skyforge_Weapons.esp from the lower pane to the upper pane." which not only deactivates the esp but removes it from the plugins list. Already tried that? For me, there's no errors moving it to optional. Do you perhaps use non-STEP mods requiring that esp?

I got another problem with STEP 2.2.9.1 Extended + REGS 4.0.6. After installing ETaC with the according patches for STEP (2x Cutting Room Floor, No Snow under the Roof, Oblivion Realms Series, Better Fast Travel) I know that ORS and BFT are to be added later during the REGS installation. CRF and NSuR however refer to the esps provided by STEP. And they are not available as I've replaced them with the Extended Patch. So what should I do? Add more esps by using CRF and NSuR in addition to the STEP Extended Patch (any problems to be expected?)? Or is there a workaround to make the patches believe the Extended Patch esp would be what they're looking for? -

I've found my old post and thereby the file with absolute filepaths that needs to be edited. So if you're still interested I indeed could do the upload. Requirements Probably CPU comparable to i5 Modern graphics card (probably GTX660+) with 2GB VRAM+ 4 GB RAM 30GB of space Installation 1) If Skyrim is/was already installed and changed (mods,...) by any means, uninstall it via Steam and make sure everything Skyrim related is deleted from ...\Steam\steamapps\common\ ...\Documents\My Games\ ...\AppData\Local\ To save some gigabytes from the download you can also revert it to vanilla but the according link on STEP isn't working at the moment so better go the safe way. 2) Install Skyrim via Steam, if installing it in a protected folder like C:\Programs (x86)\, after installing make sure you got full access to the folder 3) Follow STEP 1C and install Mod Organizer, LOOT, TES5Edit and WyreBash into the Skyrim directory 4) Download my installation and extract it to overwrite your Skyrim-folder, if it asks for overwrite permission click "Yes, for all" 5) If your Skyrim wasn't installed to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\ (Steam default path) open the ModOrganizer.ini in \Skyrim\ModOrganizer\ and replace all entries with that filepath with your installation directory 6) Enjoy watching him play a fully functional STEP Extended setup -
Losing up to 12fps in average after applying the STEP INI Guide - why?
elwaps replied to elwaps's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Indeed. Still tons of VRAM left to fill with visual mods. I'm almost done with STEP Extended by now, I've only left out Dragons Shout with Voice, regardless of lore I think it sounds way less frightening. However, now as DynDOLOD Worlds is running I got a question before benching the last time. It only works by deactivating and reactivating BirdsAndFlocksHF. Before I deactivate it, the esp is priority #40. After reactivating it got the highest priority in the load order. Should I put it back to 40 or leave it at the bottom? /edit Put it back to 40, seemed to make sense to me. Now here we got the performance changes during the STEP installation packed into some fancy charts ^^ While beginning the installation of REGS I've also already found out what I'll be needing all that performance for. JK's Cities alone eats up 18% performance and increases VRAM usage by 18% in Solitude! -

Allright, lets see how many fps I got left in the end then. ;) Update, made it to 2G. The last two sections basically just added lots of VRAM usage. 0 Intro - Having FRAPS run for 240 seconds after the vanilla game intro start 1 To Riverwood - Walking from the exit of Helgen Keep to Riverwood and stop benching after I've reached the town's exit 2 To Riften - Walking from Heartwood Mill to the entrance of Riften 3 Brittleshin Pass - Starting inside at the north entrance, doing a short run through the dungeon to the south entrance 4 Solitude - Starting at the entrance, walking on the right side to the palace, turning around, going through the Imperial castle and back to the entrance ALL BENCHMARKS COMBINED -

Another idea why my old setup was instable as hell. I've found out that I've used the ENB Memory Checker for DX11 and got a value of almost 30000. This time I've run the DX9 one and got closely over 4000. Any hints on how to gain performance in general via ENB? Or should I just finish my setup and try afterwards? I've just finished installing and benchmarking 2D (Fixes). Lost a little bit but should be okay. Except for the Intro and Solitude. /edit Realized that Media Player Classic Home Cinema with a paused SD video was still running in the background. This should explain parts of the framerate loss from 2D. 2E looks way better. 0 Intro - Having FRAPS run for 240 seconds after the vanilla game intro start 1 To Riverwood - Walking from the exit of Helgen Keep to Riverwood and stop benching after I've reached the town's exit 2 To Riften - Walking from Heartwood Mill to the entrance of Riften 3 Brittleshin Pass - Starting inside at the north entrance, doing a short run through the dungeon to the south entrance 4 Solitude - Starting at the entrance, walking on the right side to the palace, turning around, going through the Imperial castle and back to the entrance -

Thanks for your time. I know that framerates way above 60 make the physics go wild, I've experienced this when benching the Vanilla Skyrim at "low" and "medium" Launcher settings. But be informed that I want to add an ENB, Verdant Grass, Skyrim Bigger Trees (Lite), JK's Major Cities and ETaC. The ENB alone will eat up fps like Homer Simpson eats donuts. Luckily I haven't touched Reduce Decal Fade as its description made me a bit afraid of it. A potential factor of instability wasn't what I was looking for after giving up a messed up installation. So all I changed about decals was the number of decals shown. In general I sticked with the Recommended Changes. To be exact, from the Other section I only took bAllowScreenShot=0 fDefault1stPersonFOV=81fDefaultFOV=81 fDefaultWorldFOV=81 fLightLODRange=50000 iNumHWThreads=12 fGrassFadeRange=10000 iMinGrassSize=40 fBookOpenTime=200.0 fMeshLODLevel1FadeTreeDistance=6144 fMeshLODLevel2FadeTreeDistance=4096 fTreesMidLODSwitchDist=8192 iWaterReflectHeight=1024 iWaterReflectWidth=1024 All benchmark scenes are at daytime so it is improbable that the light LOD did any harm, HWThreads should if anything improve performance (tho there's almost no serious CPU load anyway), grass fading and density shouldn't apply to Solitude, same goes for the trees and there's no water in the dungeon. That's why I was heavily confused. But nevermind, in the meantime I've applied STEP 2C (ENBoost, SKSE, Papyrus, StableuGrids) and it ate another ~5% performance. BUT reduced the stress on the SSD (~2 MB/s instead of ~4). If this goes on like that I'm gonna end up with a negative framerate once the build is done. :D By the way, is it possible that I had frequent freezes with my last build because I used the XP32 Extended skeleton while STEP says "do NOT use it"? -

elwaps replied to lukeyboy89's question in General Skyrim LE Support
Is it only STEP or are you talking about a complete mod setup with something like SkyRe and an ENB? If the latter (respectively in general), some infos about his computer would be very helpful. If he got something similar to mine I could zip my setup after STEP and upload it somewhere. All you/he had to do was install Skyrim through Steam, install the stuff from STEP 1 (Mod Organizer, LOOT, TES5Edit, WyreBash) into the Skyrim folder and extract the archive into it while having it overwrite everything. Also, there's a file somewhere containing some absolute filepaths (need to look it up again) that need to be adapted to your/his filepaths and that's it. By far the easiest way to pass on a complete mod installation, already successfully tried it with a friend. :) -
Just looking for a short explanation as this time (I gave up my bugged last setup) I benched every step during STEP installation. Compared to the STEP Launcher settings I'm losing about 10fps in average after having done the INI Guide. Initially I thought this was due to the popping tree fix and the 200 instead of 20 rendered animated trees but looking at Brittleshin Pass I'm wondering where this loss comes from. I've followed the guide PRECISELY with exception of the HUD and map fixes (as I'm gonna install mods fixing those things anyway). I also "gained" about 100 MB of VRAM usage except for Brittleshin Pass, where I've had even less than before. So at least the VRAM thing must be something that is present in the worldspace aswell as in Solitude but not in dungeons. As for Solitude, I have no idea why I don't run into the GPU limit there, that's probably also the reason nothing changed compared to the last run. Any ideas? Just asking as I know I will NEED those 10fps later when it comes to ENB and vegetation (grass!) mods. ;) Specs are i7 3930K @Stock GTX 680 4GB OC @Stock 8GB DDR3 1333 @Stock SSD Tools are FRAPS for the FPS Windows Perfmon Logging for CPU, RAM, Pagefile and SSD Transfer Rate Nvidia Inspector for VRAM, GPU Load, Temp and Power Here's the results: 0 Intro - Having FRAPS run for 240 seconds after the vanilla game intro start 1 To Riverwood - Walking from the exit of Helgen Keep to Riverwood and stop benching after I've reached the town's exit 2 To Riften - Walking from Heartwood Mill to the entrance of Riften 3 Brittleshin Pass - Starting inside at the north entrance, doing a short run through the dungeon to the south entrance 4 Solitude - Starting at the entrance, walking on the right side to the palace, turning around, going through the Imperial castle and back to the entrance

Hi everyone. I hope this part of the forum is appropriate for my thread, looking at the sections I haven't found something more fitting for a general mod build thread than the General one. If threads like this aren't allowed or desirable in the STEP forums please tell me (and don't just delete it - that way I got the chance to copy the content and post it elsewhere). If you're not interested in investing some time going through stuff please leave this thread now. On the other hand, as I'm trying to improve my modding in general, you could also learn something (more likely from others potentially helping me than from me myself). Goals: 1 Immersion (first person mods, no fast travel except for carts,...) 2 Lore Compatibility (no LotR stuff, no weird monsters,...) 3 Visuals (maxed out as long as the game is just playable) 4 Realism (no overpowered stuff/homes, deleveled world, SexLab,...) 5 Performance (aiming for stable 30fps with my card as 60 turned out to be unrealistic) in this order. Great, I've just finished more than an hour of patching (mainly DynDOLOD). Still thanks for the heads up, this will save me some esps. :) Still a great advice, I just realized I'm using Skyrim Enhanced Camera together with Immersive First Person View! I must have overlooked the former as I probably had STEP 2.2.9.0 in mind where SEC wasn't integrated yet. Will fix this later and see if it helps! :) -
I have to admit that I've never completed a single Skyrim playthrough despite several 100 hours of playtime. :O_o: And I guess I have even more "modtime" than playtime. From time to time I get hyped by a "Skyrim modded graphics 2015" video or something similar and start modding Skyrim again with the aim of creating THE perfect version. This time it was the release of Fallout 4. I've heard about some more or less minor issues and decided to wait for some mods and unofficial patches and instead mod Skyrim again. ;) Good thing: as I don't know all the quests there's always something new for me to discover. Although my focus is on immersion anyway instead of just completing the game.

Thanks again guys. As for the tree popping, I don't have "classical" popping, popping (out of nowhere) actually disappeared since I'm using DynDOLOD. Instead I'm having trees popping to life from their flat LOD (?) picture way too near to my character. Speaking of ~40-100m/130-330ft. However, I'm gonna backup my inis, read the settings guide aswell as the tree settings guide and modify accordingly, check the object ID and identify the mod, check if I got the right version of JK and remove SkyTEST and then, hopefully successfully "recomplile" my patches, which will take me an hour. And THEN see if I/you were right. :D /edit Major thumbs up for TirigonX for guessing the problem right and for darkside for showing me the method. Actually you don't have to use TES5Edit (anymore?) as when clicking something with the console open, the actual esp/esm sources of the object (in this case JK's Skyrim) are displayed. And indeed, ALL of the clipping objects were coming from JK's Skyrim. Exchanging it for the cities version will be the first thing to do for me. :) /edit2 - JKs Skyrim replaced with JKs Skyrim Major Cities Only - Applied Skyrim Settings Guide (only the usage of CPU 12 cores and a tree option was missing) - Applied Skyrim Tree Settings Guide (only the far view/LOD stuff was missing, potentially fixing my popping problem) - uGridsToLoad set to 7 and iGrassCellRadios set to 3, testing - Replaced Skyrim Bigger Trees with the Lite version but 4096 instead of 2048 LODs, will probably be pointless anyway because of DynDOLOD but just in case... - Removed SkyTEST, hoping to resolve the hopefully script related freeze - Moved Immersive First Person View after the SexLab stuff as it was perhaps SL that bugged my view once leaving 1st person for the first time - LOOT done - DynDOLOD replaced by unmodified version, deleted LODs - Bashed Patch done - DSR Patch done - Requiem Patch done - waiting for DynDOLOD... ~1 hour remaining... ^^ Two questions: How can I disable the zooming/switching perspectives via mouse wheel entirely? I want to play the entire game in (immersive) 1st person and also have the clipping bug when going to 3rd person with Immersive First Person View. How can I fix this bug to be able to use 3rd person via button from time to time without harm? When I start a game, it starts in modded 1st person and everything is perfect. Once I change to 3rd even once and then go back to 1st, the view is bugged and I'm clipping inside myself which can't be fixed anymore. :/ -

@darkside Thank you. I know that I can get the reference ID by clicking on stuff with the console open ingame. How can I check afterwards which mod it belongs to? Loading everything in TES5Edit I assume - and then? @TirigonX This may actually be possible. My esp is named "JKs Skyrim.esp". I assume the esp of "Major Cities" would be named differently. Unfortunately I can't check at the moment as Nexus is on maintenance. REGS recommends the "Major Cities" version too, I've probably made a mistake there I guess. I've to re-do all the patches (including 1 hour DynDOLOD) anyway in order to deactivate SkyTEST as I guess the freeze I've recently experienced was script overload related (CWO, Lanterns, SexLab, BeeingFemale, Immersive Creatures/Patrols,...) and SkyTEST seems to be a script monster. By the way, I got another bug. I'm using Skyrim Bigger Trees (probably switching to the Lite version then as some trees visually appear to be bigger than mountains) and especially when travelling in the Riften area the change from LOD to 3D trees seems to happen VERY late and therefore looks ugly. I often get fragments like seen in the screenshot below (unfortunately got no shot of the trees but look at the island in the background). Any idea why this happens? Incompatibility between Bigger Trees and DynDOLOD? While I'm at it - is there a better looking alternative to Bigger Trees? -

Just added REGS to STEP Extended (fresh installation). In case it may help, I've also installed Legacy of the Dragonborn (should only affect wilderness and Solitude), CWO (not started yet) and Inhabitants of Skyrim (should only change the look of Vanilla NPCs), Alternate Start aswell as Requiem (as far as I know doesn't change cities aswell). However, my problem are floating items that I first noticed when entering Riverwood. It looks like old stuff wasn't replaced but literally overwritten, now the door of the cow cattle near the inn comes out of a stone wall, a shield is floating above the place where the old south entrance was, same with a torch and some other minor items. I've had this problem in the past (a year ago when I last used STEP+REGS) and somehow found a solution back then, unfortunately now I'm unable to fix things. Probably its a very minor thing and I'd be very glad if you could help me. Is it a small patch I've missed? A load order thing? /edit Did a test run and stumbled upon heavy clipping at the docks of Dawnstar too. Riverwood stuff still present. Took screenshots of both. As the max filesize is restricted to 10.05KB I've uploaded them on abload.de. I've used the forum search (after accidentially posting into the dev thread) and didn't find anything about the topic so I'm asking you guys. I've recently installed a new Skyrim setup starting with STEP Extended and including Even Better Quest Objectives aswell as the old Unofficial Skyrim/DG/HF/DB Patches (not the Legendary one). Unfortunately I'm always getting the "Missing Master" thing referring to the Unofficial Legendary Patch from EBQO (aswell as the Alternate Start and Requiem patches belonging to it). I've already tried the esp uploaded on the second last page of the EBQO thread but it didn't change anything. As I'm pretty unexperienced when it comes to modding I'm wondering if I got that thread right that one should ignore the error as it isn't substantial but only refers to some old entries in the file (yet it doesn't let me do the DSR and Requiem Patches because of missing masters and the Bashed Patch at least complains) or if I totally overlooked some instruction telling me how to deal with the problem. Using the Legendary Patch doesn't solve anything as many esps demand for the old ones and using both "worked" but the new patch constantly complains about the old one being installed and I guess that'll lead to some problems. Should I use the old Better Quest Objectives (without "Even") to fix it? No need to tell me my savegames will be fked or something, I haven't really started playing yet, I'm still testing and completing my installation (just added REGS for example). So what am I supposed to do? Sorry if the solution was explained somewhere and I didn't get it (no native speaker here) but there should be some sort of official instruction from STEP on that topic anyway. Or I'm just too dumb and seriously messed up something myself, sorry in that case! :/

UPDATE Reproduced the crash (Skyrim stopped working) in Windhelm and in Riverwood. As I'm running the fps-counter since yesterday, I've noticed that the crashes only happen when the frames go down to about 30. As this usually doesn't happen outside towns and cities, I guess that's the reason why the crashes only occur while inside a city or a ETaC enhanced area (Riverwood, area in front of Whiterun). The last time the game crashed in front of Whiterun, the counter was stuck at 29fps, now, in Windhelm, it was stuck at 31fps. Now, how does a low framerate lead to "Skyrim stopped working"? And what can I do to fight it? I would really really miss JK's cities and ETaC. I will try disabling these and similar frame-eating mods (Better Docks, Better City Entrances,...) to see if the problem completely disappears or only "gets better". On the confusion site, the Solitude docks sometimes go down to ~30-35 but I've never seen any crashes there. /edit By the way, I would rather reinstall everything, sacrificing another two or three days I don't have, as disabling all optical enhancements. At the moment the files load order (left pane in MO) is STEP -> VEGA -> REGS -> Other Mods but I guess the best and most stable way would be to integrate the "Other Mods" into the load order properly at the right places anyway.
-
It doesn't have to be instable. I got an i7 2600 (without "K" and without OC) and a GTX 680 4GB and I'm currently running 257 esps. Performance-wise everything's perfectly fine despite STEP Extended (HD textures, mesh replacers,...), a lightning overhaul, 1080p and DS2X AA. I've even installed WARZONES 2015, which is pretty resource heavy, and don't have stutter during large fights. You should be fine running a similar amount of mods plus a nice ENB. Stability-wise, everything's fine too except for one single mod that I'm trying to isolate at the moment but that's not even a general stability problem but restricted to Whiterun and Riften. Probably something from the REGS pack. Other than that, not a single CTD, freeze or anything similar in roughly 100 hours. Have fun!
